Hi there Lady C, This evening I was watching king Charles depart Samoa after the CHOGM (Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting) and I have to say I thought it was a smashing success. This was historical for a number of reasons. First of all it is the first time in history a small Pacific island country has ever hosted such an auspicious occasion (it is much smaller that Fiji) and the Samoan's were gleeful aming with pride. Secondly Charles following the late Queens footsteps she was the first reigning monarch to step foot on Australian soil, but he was the first king to step foot in Australia and the welcome he got from us Australians was unsurpassed. More people turned up than officials expected by about four fold, infact more than the Buckingham palace officials expected when they came to plan the itinerary I am told. The only thing that put a bitter taste in one's mouth was he looked very tired as he was boarding his flight which is to be expected heavens I'm 44 and would be exhausted, but when asked about coming back to Samoa his response was along the lines "I hope I live long enough to come back". I am a read between the lines kind of Gentleman, so that comment gives me a feeling of unease. Even though it's only held every two years I know the late Queen regarded the CHOGM as one of the most important events in her diary and it is now very clear to all so does the king. This evening I was watching king Charles depart Samoa after the CHOGM (Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting) and I have to say I thought it was a smashing success.
This was historical for a number of reasons. First of all it is the first time in history a small Pacific island country has ever hosted such an auspicious occasion (it is much smaller that Fiji) and the Samoan's were gleeful aming with pride.
Secondly Charles following the late Queens footsteps she was the first reigning monarch to step foot on Australian soil, but he was the first king to step foot in Australia and the welcome he got from us Australians was unsurpassed. More people turned up than officials expected by about four fold, infact more than the Buckingham palace officials expected when they came to plan the itinerary I am told.
The only thing that put a bitter taste in one's mouth was he looked very tired as he was boarding his flight which is to be expected heavens I'm 44 and would be exhausted, but when asked about coming back to Samoa his response was along the lines "I hope I live long enough to come back".
I am a read between the lines kind of Gentleman, so that comment gives me a feeling of unease.
Even though it's only held every two years I know the late Queen regarded the CHOGM as one of the most important events in her diary and it is now very clear to all so does the king.

I don’t think she could claim Harry’s wealth as a Widow. Most of his money comes from inheritance and I think I read some where that if he is not around to collect it then it goes to the Royal purse. This is probably to avoid gold diggers killing the golden goose.

I am not a fan of segregation because I think that we should not group people on the basis of skin colour. At the moment the white population would not be allowed to have programmes or other entertainment mediums, so the best solution would be to have an all white cast in programmes and other entertainment mediums and all black cast and/or an Asian cast.
It should always be based on talent and the best person for a job, not a ticking boxes exercise, but sadly, we are going backward in time not forward. Martin Luther King would be unhappy with the current situation, in my opinion.

Dear Lady C: We're Sicilians, still of the old school, with family members adhering to the old ways and values. If one of us maligned, vilified, degraded, humiliated, lied about and hurt any of our family members as Harry did his, there would never be any love for that person. Let's say, the capo di famiglia would have made an offer long ago ( right after the Oprah interview) that the traitors would not have been able to refuse. Judgment would have been passed, and the traitors' names would never be spoken again. No one in the family would have anything to do with them or their children. They would have been cut off from the family------never acknowledged, with no hope of redemption.

Sicilian American here. In my family, we all have inherited what we call "the death stare". We look at the offending person as though he were invisible, no conversation, no dark looks. Just a basic negation of that person's existence.

Regarding Ukraine, the good news from the U.S. is that Victoria Nuland, who many consider the architect of the Ukraine/Russia war, and who aided the installation of Zelensky as Ukraine president, resigned earlier this year from her post at the State Department, and yesterday, her husband, Robert Kagan, who was Editor in Chief at the Washington Post, resigned his post as well. Dear Lady C, as always thanks for your video. I have to agree with you on your later discussion regarding Russia and BRICS. I'm a little younger than you and also spent time living in London and New York, meeting many people from different countries and nationalities. I learnt a lot from their own personal perspective that certainly differed in various degrees from what was reported in the British press. Like you, I also agree, we should embrace our differences as much as similarities and find common ground that we can work on and grow. Sadly, looking on what is happening in the world today, I'm really not sure what the future holds. Best wishes to you and hope we see the kittens again.
