Lived there on Monroe from 2008-2017. The property value shot through the roof. The friendly street market was right behind my house. I miss it but I was renting, and it just got too expensive.

It is definitely one of the neighborhoods with the highest appreciation.

@@MovingtoEugeneOregon there’s a kids sports thing there now, which is great. But civic , while it was a relic, had out lived it’s use as a “professional” venue . It was built in 1938 on NRA money ( not THAT nra, but “ National recovery act” money) and it was antiquated. The 4J school district got it for a dollar, and it was used for various reasons until the area where minor league baseball had always been played here- Lark Park, off of Roosevelt just past four corners- became unusable.
The shift to PK park near Autzen happened because OSU won back to back ncaa championships, and uncle Phil got annoyed enough to build PK park and refund Baseball at the u of o. ( the u of o dropped baseball in 1983 to cut costs and to comply with title IX).
Sorry for the rant. I’m a townie since ‘85, and I’m the sound guy at the Hult center since 1994. Did a lot of music stuff around here.
