- How I made a Victorian chemise, based on designs from the 1880s, 1890s and early 1900s, with a pintucked yoke, eyelet ruffles, and feather stitch embroidery.

If you want to make one of these as a nightgown or house dress, a Liberty Lawn print is stunning and makes it a treat to wear.
That's a lovely idea 😍
Yes please! More historical sewing videos. Yours are so clear and relaxing to watch.
I love 19th century fashion, look simple yet so elegant. As a beginner in sewing I am so grateful to you for teaching us, thank you so much 🙏
The chemise is so adorable! Definitely one of the things on my list of items to make
Your videos are so soothing to watch! Your voice is so precise and crisp, but gentle and simply lovely! 💗
You're so kind, thank you ❤️

Beautiful! Another of your makes I want to try myself. Chemises are such a good idea. I have a very plain tatty antique one that I wear but it’s time I made myself one 💗🌸
Yay! They're great as pajamas, a dress, tucked in to a skirt, so fun ❤️
Beautiful. I would love a sew along with me video to help and make this. Im just starting to get into sewing and i love these beautiful details you did! Great job.
Thank you! I would like to do a sew along with this chemise and other other types of chemise necklines. In the meantime, you can view written instructions and more detail on my blog, linked in the video description ❤️
Hello I appreciate your written instructions on your blog too, I second the appeal for a sew along. 🪡
Yay! Your chemise is beautiful (as is your kitty!) 😉
Thank you! 😊
Bravo, I have to give this one a try. Thank you.
Thank you ❤ I'd love to see your version of it!
Lovely! You look elegant in your underthings, something i aspire to be!
Wow, thank you, so kind ❤️
I'm inspired by your video to make this chemise for myself. Your blog shows steps so very well illustrated. I do need help finding the pattern guide. Your link, Manual of Needlework and Cutting Out, 1907 by Agnes Walker doesn't match your photo of page 234 unfortunately. Can you help, please. 🙂
Восхищаюсь!❤
I like you style of sewing!! I was looking for something like that 🎉
I would like to try this. Where can I find the pattern? I am very new at sewing clothes. So would this be a beginner project? I would like to wear this as a slip.
This would make a lovely slip, especially in a lightweight fabric! The pattern is linked in the description - it's a diagram in an 1890s sewing book so you have to draw it out on paper per the measurements given in the diagram. Good luck!
I notice the pattern has a scoop under the arms. Does that effectively replace the underarm gussets? The problem I have with late Victorian-Early Edwardian chemises is the fact they got rid of sleeves, which obviously serves the purpose of protecting the outer garment from underarm sweat. I hate staining my shirts so much, I don't dare make a chemise without sleeves. This pattern seems a little different from the very distinct no sleeve chemise. Have you found it to protect your underarms? I must know this before I make the thing.
Your sewing is so meticulous!
Thank you 😊
