The Emergencies Act was invoke bc of the failure of Premier Doug Ford, for allowing the border closure and the occupation in Ottawa. After all both of these happened in the Province of Ontario.
And a number of other failures.
Also an issue for me was Trudeau not allowing them a voice. He dismissed them as fringe, and to some extent I agreed, but they should have still been able to have a voice. It was weird from both sides.

They were protesting government over-reach which I agree with. Didn't like the blocking of roads and traffic, but these protesters were on the whole, peaceful. They weren't spewing violent rhetoric like many of the pro-Hamas demonstrators are known to do. We know they are not facing the risk of having their bank accounts frozen as was done with the truckers.
They were literally demanding an election government to step down

Right to SPEEDY trial, WHAT is going on, these charges as I understand are minor. In R. v. Jordan (2016), the Supreme Court established that a delay longer than 18 months from when a charge is laid to the trial's completion is "presumptively unreasonable" and any delay by the Crown beyond that time that is not justified by exceptional circumstances that are either unforeseeable or beyond the Crown's control must result in a stay of proceedings. When a preliminary inquiry is held or the accused is tried in superior court, the presumptive ceiling is extended to 30 months.[4]
