Yes, this aircraft is still flying. Samaritans Purse bought it in 2015. I know one of the pilots who is flying this beautiful plane. It’s now registered as N782SP.
I worked at Evergreen E.A.G.L.E @ KPHL. I handled ATI DC-8s every day. 2 flights .. both inbound/ outbound. 1st arrival @ 06:50 which was the first daily flight allowed per KPHL sound ordinance. I marshalled them in , hooked up the gpu, staged the trucks, operated the K-loader unloaded/ load. Before moving the machine away from the jet .. I'd write RUSH on the ceiling over the cargo doors. Then pull everything away, air start engines and push those beautiful birds back , uncouple and give a salute to flight crew as I back away. Unfortunately Evergreen folded and that was the end of our business relationship with ATI. Great company, great people
Probably the most advanced DC8 in the world. All flat panel instrumentation. No CRT's Plug and play. A flight director indicator could play a compass. 721CX was a special project for me.

721CX. Number 1 of the 72's.
Much like the 21CX to 71CX. It was a brand that most didnt know.
721 and 722 were the French air force 72's. 2 existed outside. NASA and an oil company.

Still flying to this day as N782SP for Samaritan’s Purse.
DC-8-72CF, N721CX had always flown over my house in Japan until 2013.
Incidentally, what happened N722CX??!
Sadly N722CX was scrapped in May of 2013 at the Sacramento Airfield after some 7 years of storage.
Fresh out of ATI D Check, scraped.
Great, What company do I do the updates?
Why was the Capt HSI having a conniption fit?
Is this considered heavy equipment?
