When I was a kid, I remember my mother having a slushy cup. You put it in the freezer over night, pured whatever you wanted in it and would scrape the sides every couple minutes until you had a slushy. I tried everything in that. Coke, water, tea, milk, you name it, I probably tried it.
I thought grant gave them one small shake to create the ice crystals. That's what I do to mine and I leaned it from grant. I love you guys every video makes me happy ❤️
I did the bag method earlier today with root beer and honestly it was the best thing I’ve ever had and the consistency is better than the slurpees from 7-11😌 we forever Stan TKOR❤️
Anybody else just randomly start missing Grant? We love you Nate we love Callie, but we miss the king too 😢 As I was writing this comment, Nate mentioned Grant in a previous video from months ago maybe a couple years ago showing us how to do it
It's weird how every one knows what the flavor of colors are now Purple is grape Green is green apple Orange is orange lol Red is strawberry Blue is raspberry Ect.
The coke bottles from the freezer were actually supercooled. the temperature of the soda was below freezing, but there were no seed sites for crystals to form. Once the bottles were opened, the escaping carbon dioxide provided enough of a disturbance for the ice to start forming.
as a kid in the 80s I had a frosty mug - a plastic mug with an fluid-filled plastic nsert you freeze- pour any drink into it, stir and it becomes a perfect slushy. I still have one and use it often in summer.
The amount of “non comment” comments there are prove how many people are obsessed with being early, first, or unoriginal to cover up the fact that they are bragging about being early 🙄
if you want to freeze something in a freezer a bit faster or just cool it off, try wrapping it in a wet paper towel. Can get a room temp can of soda to ice cold in 15ish minutes depending on temp of freezer
I tried the coke one already and it didn’t work for me, but I’ll keep trying it!! I gotta figure out my freezer. But I can’t wait to try some of these methods!! Thanks for the ideas!! 😊
Finding this out in 2022 while everything is not back to normal, this will be something to do in the coming years. So freaking creative. Glad I got around to find it! 😌
Personal trick for homemade slurpee. Boil the soda down around a third of the way, and then freeze it. You should be able to break it apart with a spoon pretty easily and when you stir it will just break up into the slush (like if you freeze a real slurpee it gets a bit more solid but doesn't hold together) My theory is that they use a much higher syrup ratio in the mix. You'll notice if you just freeze soda in a cup you get a white ice layer at the top, but with this method you don't get that.
Hey guys, not sure if you knew this, but you can do a syrup reduction by filling a saucepan with your soft drink of choice, bringing it to a boil and then, reducing the temperature to "low" and letting it simmer for (approximately) half an hour. You can reduce the volume up to 1/9th of the original (1/6 is the recommended). Very useful when you need a more concentrated flavor!!!
The syrup has a foaming agent in it that normal soda syrup does not have. Syrup (with a foaming agent in it), water and CO2 is all you put in the machine. The machine has a pump for the syrup from a bag in a box, a CO2 line and a water line. Quillaia extract is an example of a foaming agent used.
Hey guys I've been a big fan of the show for years! First time commenting though. So truth be told I've worked in a couple places that sell slushies/ slurpees, and funny enough the way we made them was literally to crack open a 2 liter of soda and pour it into the machine. That's it. So you guys got it spot on. The only minor difference which is a reason I never buy slurpees anymore. Is when the machine ran low. They just have us top it off. So in my opinion that minor difference in taste/ texture.... is just old soda.... sorry :(
My favorite method is by mostly freezing the drink after opening it, then with the top properly screwed on you shake it with force so the frozen drink breaks up into pieces and you eventually have a slushy that tastes better than the fast-food ones imo. This method might not work with those thin water bottles that are supposed to be more eco-friendly because thinner plastic means weaker plastic.
Reminds me of what I’d do in the winter. I used to build a snowbank beside my window, and put my drinks in them. They never got cold enough to break, but they did come out like a slushy most of the time
You can make ice cream by getting a large zip lock bag, put ice and salt in it. Then tmget a small zip lock bag with any flavour milk. Seal the small zip lock and put in the large zip lock. Then seal the large zip lock and shape while keeping it upright. Top tip, wipe the lid of the small bag before opening so no salty ice cream!! Edit: Oops, posted this before you did this method very similarly. xD
Take it from someone who's worked at 7-Eleven for close to a decade now. The syrup used for Slurpees are contained in anywhere from a 1.5 gallon bag or a 5 gallon bag marked FCB. Which is short for Frozen carbonated beverage. There's a series of hoses that go from the bag to the machine. At the end of the day it's just Frozen syrup
Its hard to think about that a year ago on this day you were still with us, but as of tomorrow its been a year that you've been gone. Its still hard to believe. RIP Grant

7:49 Calli tastes the blue syrup, grimaces, then tastes it again (and grimaces again). What do they call it when you do the same thing over and expect a different result?
It does if you haven't opened it, but you will want to do it in a freezer with nothing else in it, because it is easier to clean up. What's above the soda can in particular gets covered with frozen soda. You won't get hurt, but you will make a great mess.
Slurpee syurp mix is different from the soda fountain syrup as it's a 5:1 mix ratio....and the CO2 is contained within the barrel as it's injected into the mixing chamber to freeze and mix
As a kid I used a hand stiring slurpy maker. Unless it was ment for ice cream? But it was the same method with the ice and salt. We had to hand stir it for about 15 min to slush up. It was great I used the strawberry crush soda :3
