  • Container comes close to tipping over - lands on building. Not quite a rollover, but very close! Luckily no one was injured and no major damage was done. Would have been a different story if this was next to a house! Tag teamed this with myself in Hulk, our 50ton rotator, and Alex in Big Flipper, our 75ton rotator.
    Alex was doing the main lifting up front, guided by myself to ensure the landing gear on the container came up just perfect so it wouldn't take out more of the street. These are somewhat tricky to do, as the landing gear naturally wants to come up diagonal towards you. That's why I positioned the boom to do almost a direct vertical lift, then playing with the cables to get it out.
    Once free, it was cake walk to set it back down and level so the wrecker from Mr. C's Tow can take it back to their impound yard.

    How many of those haters it says they could’ve done it and half the time actually do towing. I bet you their office workers or drive a dump truck or a small tow truck near what they can do if they don’t.

    That black fence at the corner of the building kept the container from breaking the pipe. Could that be a gas pipe?

    Back in the late 70's I was driving truck and dropped my trailer on a city street in Pasadena. I got a rude awakening in the morning at the motel and was asked if I had dropped my trailer. I said "yes" and they said come and get it as it's about to fall over. Back then it was Continental Towing out of LA that came with their big rig and a smaller medium sized rig to act as an anchor. Punched a hole in the street just like that one! Sure brings back memories!

    An outfit I use to work for found a swap lot for a line haul. First 2 trucks come in
    to drop and swap. Truck pulls out trailer sinks STRAIGHT DOWN. Might be a good idea to carry 2x12 boards to drop on like my dad use to carry. Or put those Florida sand shoes on the dollies like the CROWLEY chassis have. I have permits good to 95000 lbs gross. So 49000 In the box is a nice ride. Especially if it's a 20 on a combo tri 40. Containers are FUN!!!!!!

      Thats a sinkhole. It means water erosion under the street. Usually crack in water or sewer pipe that erodes dirt away.

    • @jameslovitt994
      @jameslovitt994 Рік тому +3

      Asphalt wasn't done to the rating of that amount of weight, which is the case in most places, concrete or asphalt.
      Driver that dropped that trailer should have put wood blocking underneath the landing gear pads, to better distribute the weight.
      Happens a lot.

    That would suck. I picked up a load a few years ago, one of our trainer/student teams tried a shortcut over a mountain on a tight windy road. Didn't make it, no injuries, but rig was on it's side. Funny thing is my 'nav' suggested the same route a few days earlier. I could actually see the mountain from the truck stop, and looked at my atlas at the skinny squiggly line that indicated the road over the mountain. 'OH, hell no' was my conclusion. Paranoia, once again, saved the day....

    tip over
    1. To overturn or *fall to the side*.
    Yeah so close to tipping that it, you know... "tipped".

    • @PepesTowingService
      @PepesTowingService  Рік тому +1

      Why do people insist on being so pedantic. In my industry, tipped over is equal to rolled over, as in fully on its side. Not leaning or against a wall. Always amazed how someone can watch something like this and a comment like yours is the only take away
