      @@thespiritoftheglen This times 1000. I do not want or need a new phone, but if I want to buy Insta360 I have to buy a new phone as well JUST TO ACTIVATE IT. I understand the performance requirements for EDITING but, Insta360, why don't you come down off your high horse and make a simple app that will JUST activate the camera. Or at least give people another way to ACTIVATE their cameras. Talk about designing inside an echo chamber.

      @@thespiritoftheglen Just ran into the same problem, I thought i did enough research before i bought it but not being able to even run the app on my phone to activate it is just fucking retarded. At least it is when you spend this amount of money on a camera.
      I cant even find the app on the appstore i guess because my phone is not supported and downloading it from their website wont let me install it, I again assume because my phone version doesn't match the installer.
      So now I have spent hundreds of dollars on a camera that I can't even activate and why should i even have to activate it to begin with, It's a camera ffs, I guess they gotta collect as much info as possible about their users, The money was not enough apparently.
      So now I have to figure out a way to virtualize a phone to activate it, Borrow someones phone to activate it, Or buy a new phone, Or return their trash back to them. So far i am not impressed by the software/spyware that came with this camera and all the responses i see from 360 staff on this subject sounds like bots completely disregarding how incredibly stupid this whole ordeal is, If their software is so ultra taxing on hardware that it can only run on a few select phones but that same app has to be used to activate your camera then that is something that needs to be on the front page of the advertisements, Or just simply make a standalone activation app or being able to activate it trough their official website.
      I am fucking pissed at how easily this could be fixed and it should be when you spend this amount of money.

    Not being able to use a camera without connecting via an app is major fail. I understand you're desperate to get access to customers data. And, speaking of that, your privacy policy is horrendous.

    I'm going out hiking how do you connect the insta 360 x3 to my phone and take photos and videos WITHOUT WIFI can you Bluetooth the both together on a selfie stick..

      @@rasspaille you can't connect your phone without WiFi...
      I ended up purchasing the remote which uses Bluetooth to connect to the camera this works but to a limited use, as the remote only takes photos or videos but doesn't adjust settings on the camera..
      I hope this helps...

      Damn, I'm disappointed that you can't pilot with your phone, only via Bluetooth, I don't know about you, but me I would have liked to be able to keep the camera on my helmet or my backpack, and be able to start for a while walking on a high mountain ridge or on a climbing route or via ferrata etc!
      It's annoying to have to access the camera on the helmet or on the boom to turn it on...
      I'll look to see if there's an unofficial Android app perhaps..

    It tells me "Please go to your phones system setting - WIF_ Smart Network Switch and turn it off" and this does not even exist on my phone

      I have the same issue on a Samsung S21 Ultra.
      I cannot connect it to my phone and cannot update the camera firmware.
      At this point I have given up on using the insta360 app.

      Let's follow the steps below to do some troubleshooting.
      Step 1: Please check if your camera firmware version and the APP version are the latest (v1.0.23 or above for X3 / v1.28.0 or above for the APP). If not, it is recommended to upgrade and re-test.
      Step 2: If the issue continues, please check if you can detect the X3's Wi-Fi signal normally and follow the Q2&Q3 troubleshooting advice in this link: onlinemanual.insta360.com/x3/en-us/faq/troubleshooting

    When connecting via WiFi, the connecting keeps getting lost and I get asked frequently to reconnect! Why is the Wi-Fi connection so unstable?!?
    I am using an iPhone 12.

    Please tell how to access internet in mobile after connecting with camera. I dont have any sim in my phone so i use wifi only.

      Hi there, sorry that since the camera requires a Wi-Fi connection while connecting to the phone, the phone needs the mobile data to have the internet. If the mobile doesn't have a sim, I'm afraid the phone wouldn't have internet during connecting to the camera.
      If you would like to edit the video in the app with the internet, you can download the files to the app album first, then change the Wi-Fi to home Wi-Fi to edit. Thanks for your understanding!

      As you should, I found out about this epic fail shit camera too late, now I missed the return policy window, and stuck with a camera I can’t control on distance, PEOPLE!! BE AWARE, YOUR CAMERA WILL EVENTUALLY STOP CONNECTING TO YOUR PHONE!

    Every time it tries to connect but it can't. Then i have to go to wifi and do manually like a router. But when i connect it with wifi my data stop working

In theory, you still can enable mobile data to get the internet when the camera connects to the app via Wi-Fi. Does there have any error messages when the data stopped working?     My phone seems to only be transferring footage over Bluetooth instead of wifi, and it's transferring at .01mb/s. If I go into my phone's wifi settings and manually connect to the cameras wifi it goes much faster, is there a way to set the app to use wifi by default?

      Hi Rob! Normally X3 can only transfer files via Wi-Fi by default at a speed over 150Mbps. Please update the App version and camera firmware version to the latest and see if it works better.     The icon in my X3 is not just a computer icon, but a computer with a wifi icon. When I tap that icon, it says that I have to turn on wifi and Bluetooth (which of course it always on in my phone). And that's it. I then try to connect the wifi manually, but it ask password. I tried to find the password, but still no luck until I write this comment. Can anybody help me?

    Can we connect the Insta 360 X3 to more than one mobile phone device? For example if we have an Android and iPhone both so will it be possible to connect the camera to both the phones?

      I'm sorry, but it is not possible to connect the Insta360 X3 to more than one mobile phone device at the same time. The camera can only be connected to one mobile device, at any given moment. Hope it helps!

      Hi there, please follow the steps below:
      1. Turn on WiFi and Bluetooth on your phone.
      2. Turn on X3.
      3. Open the Insta360 app and tap the yellow camera icon at the bottom of the page.
      4. Here you should see your camera listed. The name of your camera is "X3 ******" by default, where ****** is the last six digits of the serial number on the box your X3 came in.
      5. If connecting for the first time, a prompt will appear on the app and you will need to confirm the connection on the camera’s touch screen.
      6. If the above does not work, go to the phone's WiFi settings and search for your X3. Tap to connect, then return to the app.

    why doesn't the insta360 app work on the iPhone 15, Pro and iPhone Max? It doesn't work with the quickreader either. I bought the x3 in the summer. The ISG really sucks. Please answer me

    hello, the wifi for my x3 does not show on the wifi network i have tried everything even manually entering the wifi but this unable to find network and unable to join network on the app as well when i try to connect to the camara. I am very tech Educated and I have a few X3 Camaras but this one just keeps giving me trouble.... can you help? I have submitted a return repair but no email yet its been almost week now

      If I understand correctly, you're asking if the Ratio on the camera is also adjusted synchronously when you adjust the Ratio in Single Lens Mode using the app on your phone after connecting your phone and camera? If that's the case, then yes, the app's control of the camera is synchronized.

      @@insta360tutorials Hi, thank for the reply. but what i mean is, can i use the phone as a remote recording in landscape view on the phone instead of viewing on the phone vertically? because i dont think i will be able to see the full view and/or it will be distorted if i view the phone vertically while the camera lens on the one rs are horizontal.

    Hi whenever my wife’s phone connects to the camera it kicks her of the home network. Which seems silly. How can we just have a Bluetooth connection? My Osmo Action 3. Doesn’t disconnect me from home network. Thank you.

      Please check if your phone can detect X3's Wi-Fi signal. If it can, please connect it manually with Wi-Fi password 88888888 and try again.
      If there is no Wi-Fi signal of X3 on the system settings page of your phone, please follow the steps below to troubleshoot.
      Step 1: Please make sure that the phone can search for other Wi-Fi signals to confirm that the Wi-Fi function of the phone is normal.
      Step 2: Please use other devices or computers that support 5GHz Wi-Fi to test whether the camera's Wi-Fi signal can be detected normally;
      a: If one of the devices can search for signals (no need to connect), then it proves that the camera can broadcast Wi-Fi signals normally. Please check whether it is the mobile phone lacking support searching for 5GHz Wi-Fi signals (please check the mobile phone specification: if it is not marked to support dual-band Wi-Fi or 802.11a/ac, then it is likely that the phone does not support this); if it is not supported by the phone, please refer to the steps below to switch the Wi-Fi frequency of X3 to 2.4GHz.
      Android: open the app-enter "Settings" and tap "Set the current region to camera"-select Indonesia-click on "Set to the camera", restart the camera and check again.
      b: If all devices cannot detect your camera’s Wi-Fi signal, the camera may not be able to broadcast Wi-Fi signals normally, please contact us for assistance. Our email address is service@insta360.com. Thanks for your kind patience!

      Hi there, we checked the spec of the Huawei Y70, and sorry to let you know this phone doesn't support 5G Wi-Fi. Please refer to the steps below to switch the Wi-Fi frequency of the camera to 2.4GHz and test again

    Why when i connect my x3 to my phone, it turns wifi and turns on 4g? It is really annoying! I dont want to use my data to update software and stuff! Please any fix?

      Sorry for the inconvenience. The connection between the camera and the Insta360 app is made via the camera's Wi-Fi signal. When the camera is linked to your phone, because most smartphones can only connect to one Wi-Fi network at a time, you would need to use cellular data to continue other phone activities. If you prefer not to use cellular data, you can disable it while your phone is connected to the camera. You can then download the files you need to edit to the app from the camera's album within the app. Once the download is complete, you can disconnect the camera and reconnect your phone to your home or other available Wi-Fi network to edit the content in the app.

Instagram doesn't appear to be an option shown within the Insta360 app's live streaming platform choices.       The Insta360 app is an advanced, AI-powered editing suite and as such requires a certain level of processing power to run smoothly. It is therefore recommended to only use android mobile devices that meet Exynos 9810 and the above chips.
      We checked the spec of the Samsung A13, and sorry to let you know that it has a bit lower than the requirement. Meanwhile, the camera can work independently after activating, you can shoot by the camera itself, then edit and share the clips through our computer software, Insta360Studio.

      @@insta360tutorials This is dumb. Reading the other comments on all the problems getting the X3 to activate. I have the same problem with insta360 app not compatible with my good working android phone with latest software updates. I dont have the camera, but wanted to make sure your app software would work, which it does not.
      What if I don't have a friend that has a working phone to activate your camera????
      What do people do about that????? Return your camera for refund????
      What information are you getting from my phone by activation????
      Why doesn't the app work with all smart phones?????
      Why do we have to jump through hoops just to get a camera to work???? Again this is stupid.
      You have a serial number in the phone which would work with your insta360 studio software on my PC laptop. That makes more sense than this activation nightmare.

    Ugh tell me I just wasted money on this camera. I downloaded app and tried scanning QR code and it fails every time. Phone was even connected to wifi. I tried pairing devices with phone but it asks for password which I don't have.

      Please go to the mobile phone system page to check whether the Wi-Fi is connected;
      * If it is not connected, please make sure that the entered Wi-Fi password is 88888888, restart the camera and mobile phone, then try again;
      * If the phone still cannot connect to the Wi-Fi, please click on the Wi-Fi, and try again after forgetting the network;
      * If it still fails, try other mobile devices to enter the password to connect to confirm whether it is the phone's issue or the camera's.
      If the system settings page has shown the connection, but the app page shows that it cannot be connected or not connected (Android phones), please go to the app's settings page, turn on "Force Connect" mode, reconnect and try again.
      * If it still doesn't work, please confirm that GPS positioning permission has been enabled for Insta360 app;
      * If it still doesn't work, please go to the phone system settings to make sure the WLAN+ or automatic Wi-Fi switch option is off if there is an option.

      Please check if your phone can detect X3's Wi-Fi signal. If it can, please connect it manually with Wi-Fi password 88888888 and try again.
      If there is no Wi-Fi signal of X3 on the system settings page of your phone, please follow the steps below to troubleshoot.
      Step 1: Please make sure that the phone can search for other Wi-Fi signals to confirm that the Wi-Fi function of the phone is normal.
      Step 2: Please use other devices or computers that support 5GHz Wi-Fi to test whether the camera's Wi-Fi signal can be detected normally;
      a: If one of the devices can search for signals (no need to connect), then it proves that the camera can broadcast Wi-Fi signals normally. Please check whether it is the mobile phone lacking support searching for 5GHz Wi-Fi signals (please check the mobile phone specification: if it is not marked to support dual-band Wi-Fi or 802.11a/ac, then it is likely that the phone does not support this); if it is not supported by the phone, please refer to the steps below to switch the Wi-Fi frequency of X3 to 2.4GHz.
      Android: open the app-enter "Settings" and tap "Set the current region to camera"-select Indonesia-click on "Set to the camera", restart the camera and check again.
      iOS: open the phone system settings, select Indonesia under region-return to the app page-reselect the camera's signal-try to connect.

      @@insta360tutorials I have sony xperia iv, what region should I set? I did enter password 88888888 restart the phone some how it work one time the next time i open the app try to connect it doesn't work but with my old samsung note 10 phone very simple to connect

    I had to delete the app and re-download for it to connect to my new X4. Just FYI for anyone else for whom it’s not connecting.

    Why complicate our lives?? Wifi is in my laptop but not in my phone, how come a new model and I need to spend more than one hour and still dont find solution. The first Go pro app works at the first time… this no what a waste of time

    Never got connected no matter how many times I try, error 14174! Why not write a smart app to tell what to do dummies!
    Just another Chinese junk...such a hassle for a $500 camera!
    Returning this c***p and going back to my GP Max.

    Why is WiFi required to use this garbage? Your $80 record button uses bluetooth 😂
