Profiting without Producing is the most enlightening book on economics that I've read... probably ever. Its analysis is so much farther reaching than I expected it would be, and Lapavitsas dodges several of the false analyses that plague the left with his brilliant empirical approach. He also does a great job of updating old Marxist (among other) conceptions of finance and money.

Please improve the sound quality of these events. It will be difficult to gain new viewership if your program is difficult to hear. I mean, your interviews are excellent and I do value The Real News but wrestling with the volume becomes a chore!

Finance is like every thing else we consume in life. It needs our awareness before consume it and we need consumer protection agency to help in some ways. It is money products that run around without people’ protection.

I do believe that if you avoid a Marxist historical analysis of why financialization/neoliberalism came to rise 40 years ago you don't establish the basis for the audience to understand what needs to be done. It simply gives the impression that if we can avoid financialization, capitalism would be fine.
Whereas if you explain capitalism itself, especially with a Marxist perspective, you understand that today's financialization was only a matter of when would the next big over-production crisis occur. Indeed the deregulation process started with the 1973 oil crisis that was a world-wide over-production crisis and continued with Thatcher and Reagan selling their countries to corporations and obliterating unions. And if you don't explain that the 1973 crisis itself was doomed to happen because of raising inequalities and monopolies which is the intrinsic product of capitalism you leave out a big part of the economic equation.
Explaining that financialization is the inevitable result of capitalism is explaining the true nature of the phenomenon in my opinion. Also this was very interesting so I'd like to know for the future lectures if you could explain how did the 3 key changes you spoke of occur and why did they occur so much later in Europe than in the US.

Well said - To further pontificate, the securitization of subsidies through rhetorical means of confluence between aligned powers, spoken into mediums that drive our public/ private interests to lobby the exploits of big business and thus recapitalize the social industries that built this republic i.e. education defense health, have ruined the strands of our democracy and have redefined their version of capitalism to suit their own needs.

The most effective way to change a system of governance is not from within, not even by violent means, but by simply implementing a system that has been tried and tested for more than 14 hundred years.

the Protocols of the learned Elders of Zion were clearly in action! While the Christian mind is not at all atoned to hidden unity they got away with it till now, you need have a clear understanding of the past to change the present and the population is aware of those Bolshevik Zionist aggressors who have enjoyed the plunder and looting of our systems unmolsted. The fault is with us for being of the Christian culture who simply do not think in the same way as those parisites.
Now we see if we need a blood revolution or if we can change it. The problem is those hidden parisites have gotten their way for so long i personally don't see any way of peaceful change . Time is running out so we will see soon..
