This comment is hella late, but their Hot House album was leaked. All the songs are on SoundCloud. They are not releasing the songs so might as well listen to them.

They were in the recording studio on Jan. 26. They have to lay low right now due to "contractual silence." They will be releasing music THIS YEAR though. We, fans, just have to wait a little bit longer. We've waited 5 whole years we can wait a bit longer. They are working on an Album, which will be released later this year. They are big. They used to be "Aly & AJ", they just changed their name
You know what I mean, talked about and popluar. I know what they used to be but they havent been that for a while. They need a big comeback unless of course theyre not worried about being all mainstream, then i understand why they ARENT huge right now.
nltcraze Seeing as how they've been 78violet for a handful of years now (back when myspace was still popular), I would guess no they don't care about that. Especially since Aly is on Two and a Half Men now, so it seems quite apparent they're not focusing 100% on their music.
Kim N..... Adam Griffith Has already answered this question, if you just google them you will see that due to their contract with Disney they were forced into silence - which means they weren't allowed to release anything but they have been working on music ready for when they can.....
So sad that they didn't pursue their album release due to the lack of attention to HotHouse. Hopefully they eventually make another attempt. This is the 3rd shelved album from them. I really loved Insomniatic.
Yes - they were developing two different albums, which were to be their last albums w Hollywood Records, but they got shelved + ended their contract w the label. They then started self-funding this newest album, but for whatever reason it's shelved indefinitely now. :-(

I follow them on twitter and they said they have been working on a new album but they reverted back to their old name Aly & AJ instead of 78violet. They also said that Boy will be on the new album!!!
did they say if Hothouse would be on the new album??

They need more recognition. They were popular back in the day. I bet they would've been popular again, despite the hatius, but the name change kinda stunted that. I missed them though. Lmao I used to have the biggest crush on them. I was like 6 lol. I'm turning 16 now.

I'm glad my girls' first concert was theirs. They were sweet and fun, their mom was so nice. I honestly had no idea they were 78violet. Amazing powerhouses.

People are so quick to talk shit but they've never experienced anything like these two girls performing, they sing/play instruments while remembering their harmonies and all its not easy so Aly and AJ are amazing artist ♥

Do you really think they wanted to stay Disney active pop stars their whole career? This is them trying to go in the direction they want. You can like or not, I personally think this is pretty badass.

OMG I agree so much! People are mostly used to the pop crap on the radio. This is music with actual instruments and lyrics that are different. I love it, it's so raw and to me has more meaning I guess :)

But...you see... "good" is a subjective term. There is no such thing as "good" or "bad" music because music is art, and taste can vary. Don't be so pretentious.
MinaIvyShow Just because you can't derive meaning out of "pop crap" doesn't make the music bad. Life is a whole lot more enjoyable when accept that popular songs aren't "crap" just because you can't get beyond superficial lyrics or because you can't appreciate a song that doesn't need to be deep.

Beautiful music!!! Can hear it over and over especially driving in the rain or a foggy day, it creates such a nice ambience regardless that the lyrics are about regretting being with a "boy". Love it!
