Was wearing my Kaplan Cycles t-shirt today up here in NH in an auto parts store and I got called out on my shirt by a nice lady. She said she and her husband were originally from Manchester CT and (I believe both) worked at Kaplan Computers for quite a few years. She had such warm words for Ken Sr. Too funny,,, New England is a small world!
Oh I know what bike that is. That's the grandfather of the gold wings. My dad had an 81 and it was so much fun to ride. I used to ride on the back with him. Ken Kaplan stepping back in time. When the GL1500/6 debuted in 1988, Honda only offered one trim level. No Interstate, no Aspencade, no LTD/SEi. Beginning in 1990, Honda did offer 3 trim levels with the mid-level Aspencade name-badge attached to the previously named Gold Wing 1500/6. The SE was the top-o-line Gold Wing featuring 2-tone paint, CB radio, foot warmer vents, vented windshield and several other exclusive features. The Interstate became the base and budget entry model. And as such, Honda deleted reverse, cruise-control and the AM/FM/Cassette radio. For the 1990 "Anniversary" model year, Honda did, however, retro-fit their surplus Hondaline Kenwood brand scooter stereo radio into the Interstate. The following year, since the stock of Kenwood radios dried-up, the Interstate did not include any stereo system. Any Gold Wing buyer who wanted a stereo radio set-up would need to consider spending more to buy an Aspencade or SE. But if the rider could do without some of the info-tainment & wanted a luxury cruiser that could ride the interstate all day long, then this Interstate is the Gold Wing ticket! I love dude ding burnouts and High rev fly-bys. People have the wrong stereotypes on the GoldWings. I ride mine (96 GL1500SE) like a sportbike when accelerating and in corners and curves. It's a ball considering i can ride the 700 miles it takes me to get from Michigan to the Tail of the Dragon, then have fun there it any other great curvy roads. If only like like a barge. Accelerating and braking and turning in curvy roads, it's fun enough. Who wants to over push it and get hurt or die? Beautifully balanced and composed. Incredible bike, even more impressive than my CBR600 Hurricane was and it was very good too. Older Honda bikes are, remarkable.
Great Bike. I bought one, same color, for my dad. But he wasn't drive so much. I drive it the most of the time. My kids enjoy the ride in the backseat. Best touring bike ever! We sold it after one year, cause my dad was not intresstet and i have noch space in my garage. Lovely engin. Works so well....
To remove stereo cover: Use the key to open the gas cap cover Under the front lip of the faux-tank cover, press up on a small release tab. It is right in the center. Pull up on the stereo cover
Man, I just bought one of your bikes from one of your previous customers. A 1985 V65 Honda Sabre. I made a youtube video of it. I was stoked. Keep up the good work.
Beautiful, well kept up, and low mileage for it's age. Being that the bike is so big and bulky, I didn't think it was powerful enough at 100 horsepower to the rear wheel. I was definitely wrong. That bike is surprising with it's power and torque, that makes it move, quite well for the size of it. Great video. Thanks. ML&R
my first bike was a yamaha venture 1200 rode that thing all over the back roads wide open with only back brakes lol traded a older zero turn mower i got for free for it
