The fact that this is even being discussed after purdue beat the number 2 team while IU's highest ranked opponent this season has been ranked in the mid 60s is ridiculous
The Purdue Win over Alabama was impressive, Especially since they also had to Rebound last week Broken Foot Loss suffered by Freshman Phenom Jacobsen. He might have been a Raw talent, but was improving rapidly & he looked to me like someone that could replace some of the Shot Blocking & Defender ability from Zach Edey. He didn't have the bulk of Edey, of course...but he looked to be very athletic for his size...
Comparing an apple to an orange. With Painter, he still builds through recruiting and refuses (so far) to become a mercenary team, spending millions via NIL. Indiana is the opposite. They have become a mercenary team.
Proud of Painter for respecting relationships he builds with his players on scholarship. Painter skipping the Portal is the most exciting sports experiment of the 21st Century!
I'm an Indiana fan who thinks Painter is the best coach in the country and Purdue will win the Big Ten basically every season. Rice is very, very good. Smith is phenomenal. It's OK to acknowledge that Smith is great and probably the better player, but Rice is also very good and there are some things he can do just based on his size and athleticism that Smith can't do as well.
Let's see if Rice can produce the numbers and stats that B Smith has while leading his team to championships. Until then it's just talk. *Edit* I agree Smith is better!
@ LOL. I think Purdue is the better team. And Painter is the better coach. And Smith is the better player. Just acknowledging Rice is also a very good player with great potential. Don't get your little panties in a bunch over there sport!
@@TheIceWatkinslove this take. Myles Rice is awesome. No doubt. I hope we can acknowledge this without having to instantly turn it into “he’s the best PG in the Big Ten and better than Braden Smith.” Because that whole discussion gets so exhausting. Braden’s numbers are absurd. He’s was first team all conference last year, has won 3 big ten championships in 2 years, taken his team to the title game, has a record of 67-11 as Purdue’s starting PG, set the single season all time assists record in the big ten as a sophomore, etc. Dudes as much of a proven star as you’ll find in CBB.
There’s almost an unrealistic obsession with talent. Talent is good, it can get you a lot of places but more often than not teams who know their roles, know the scouting reports, execute effectively, play with toughness, sacrifice for their team, and have a real competitive spirit will beat talented teams without cohesion. Talent without cohesion is exactly what IU has been for the last decade.
I love how people underestimate Fletcher Loyer. hes slow, he cant create, hes not consistent. Hes only leading the team in scoring right now and is top 4 in the nation in 3 point percentage right now
The beauty is that Woody, who is 3-3 coaching against Painter, gets two chances every year to show that he can coach up a team with arguably better talent on paper. Will be fun to watch.
Why are we talking up IU like it wasn't a single digit home game with a couple minutes left against a team that just lost to North Florida last week and is supposed to finish 18th in their conference?
It’s so weird how Field of 68 is convinced Fletcher Loyer is mid. These guys are so obsessed with athleticism and shot creation that they can’t give Fletcher any credit for making the tough plays, being a leader on the floor, showing up in big moments, driving and getting to the line, being one of the best shooters in the nation, being the 2nd leading scorer on a team with zach edey for 2 years, being our leading scorer now, or anything.
Goodman roasting Dauster over being more right about Purdue....sign me up for this commentary all day. I think the Goodman and Hummel podcast is wearing off and Jeff is learning finally!
Braden Smith is overhyped and always will be because of Edey Would never want to go to a Poverty Program like Purdue. They are good for 2 years and people act like did anything out of the ordinary. Their 15 minutes is up. IU is the next up team in CBB. Dont know why they keep hyping Purdue up like they are gonna be good this year. They will be above average.
@nathanmurphy5736 Who has won games that actually matter to College Basketball not just Indiana? These people are talking about a wide perspective and Purdue will never win a National Title....IU hgre5 already and are working towards another now that they don't have recruiting restrictions and sanctions. Purdue is only going to get worse.
@jackfekete4123 Remember 2023 cause it's the last time you'll be talked about as an actual contender. Well nevermind you guys are a contender every year in your delusional fanbases eyes.

What? Scheduling d measuring ?
@Cooliewhistles I don't understand what you're saying
Let them overhype themselves only to be dissapointed at the end of the season 😂
Rankings mean nothing at this point of the season
@agentallstar7 are you really going to say alabama isn't a significantly better team than south carolina?
For the last 15 years IU has almost always had the more talented team and year after year Purdue produces more out of the pieces they have

Keep doubting Braden Smith and Matt Painter, thats exactly how we three pete.
*the big ten championship
I will cause without the 7'4 guy Braden Smith is a high school guard 😂
@@IHav3No3n3miesYou clearly have not been seeing Braden’s stats from the past 4 games
@Braedendillss Everyone has....doesn't change anything I said
@@IHav3No3n3mies “High school guard”? Arguably the best pg in the country btw
This is the dumbest question ever posed on here. Purdue is an absolute juggernaut.
Indiana beat S. Carolina. Whoopdy do.

Goodman shitting on Indiana? No… surely you jest
Purdue fans look crazy sensitive in the comments lmaooo they chose Purdue relax....
I agree (Purdue fan). Given the comments I did NOT expect them both to pick Purdue.
The Braden Smith and Myles Rice comp is crazy though.
Taste great!
