Generic Fractional Silver - THE WORST SILVER TO BUY!

    • War Nickels - 5 Reason...
This video is about generic fractional silver and why I think that it is the worst silver to buy. Generic silver is silver bullion that is not vintage or a collectible. Silver coins are generally not regarded as generic silver either. Fractional silver is silver that is less that 1 ounce. These fractional generic silver pieces are in my opinion the worst silver to stack and buying them would be a huge silver stacking mistake. If you are stacking silver then I highly recommend not buying this type of silver bullion. Stick to 1 ounce generic silver and larger pieces to keep the premiums lower. I do think that generic fractional silver could be a nice gift or add on to get an order over the $99 mark for free shipping, but other than that pass on it. This is just my opinion and is not financial advice. I personally do not stack generic fractional silver. If you are wanting to buy fractional silver to barter with in SHTF then stick with constitutional silver as the premiums are much lower.

These prices look good now, over time the dollar price doesn't matter that much. Yes it's more expensive... but buy some fractional after the bulk 1ozt. or larger bars have filled out your stack. It would be good to have some small silver for the possible barter scenario. I think .999 tenth ozt. silver labeled as such would go farther to the ignorant public in accepting the round for trade as most don't know about pre 1965 coins silver content.

Thank you so much for the video even though this was 4 years ago but it's still fun to watch these kind of things. I absolutely enjoy collecting fractional silver. Sometimes I have a dollar sometimes I have $20 but I like having the small amounts. It's worth it to me to have those small little dinky things which I absolutely enjoy, I think for every single person who wants to collect they should definitely be able to collect in what way they see fit. I collect to collect. I don't click to invest although it is an investment of sorts but over the many years that I have acquired my small little rounds, I have enjoyed them and love them. I love the opinions that I read and it's super fun to see what everybody thinks, there are for sure one-sided views and there are all sided views. But thank you for making videos like this. I do enjoy being able to see what others think.

Just my 2 cents, most high school kids working at fast food restaurants can’t even figure out how to make proper change . Most people under 40-45 have no idea what a Silver Eagle or Maple Leaf is. As Constitutional Silver has not been minted for over 50 years, I would venture to say 90% of the population has no idea what it is or what it’s worth, or the % Of Silver it contains. The majority of these coins have so much wear on them that the print is not readable. Plus wear means loss of weight. I will take my chances on generic that is at least well readable.

    • @SilverDragons47

Hmmm I've been buying and selling for awhile and Incuse Indians (in all fractional sizes) by Golden State Mint have been a product I can't seem to have enough of because I'm able to resell them so quickly at a solid rate of return on my initial investment but maybe it's just a fluke. I agree with the majority of your points and I don't understand why they've been so easy to resell. Possibly because some people just want silver and may not have the money or know how to buy brand name premium products at a decent price and speaking of fractional I'm really diggin the 2020 1/10th Brittannias. The monster box was a trip to break into😂so many coins to only be 32 ounces of silver. Great vid!

I mostly agree but I will buy 1/2 oz rounds if there's a special or flash sale that brings the price of the 1/2 oz down to about what a 1 oz round will cost regular price. That's about as far as I'll go though. Anything less weight and constitutional generally makes more sense than fractional generic rounds.

Good advice for anyone that is just starting with staking silver or gold. Constitutional silver would be the way to go and at least with that you can have fun looking for errors or filling in a date series. One area of generic silver that I use to collect many years ago were art bars which now have become collectible and on some can have a very high premium for a 1 oz bar

Yes but not as a major portion of your stack. It's cheaper than generic fractional. I just started stacking this year and my goal is 250 oz of silver, 200 in silver eagles and 50 oz in junk silver. They have value in silver content, antique/historical, and collecting. Often times you can find it online close to spot.

Buddy, silver is silver. As long as it's the quality of silver that it's advertised to be then it's a good investment. ANY form of pure, real prescious metals are a good investment.
Edit: Of course I'm not justifying stupid unreasonable premium's. You can find generic bullion very close to spot if you shop around. Definitely don't pay foolish premiums. Beyond that I stick to my comment, silver is silver.

You put out a really good video on April 30th 2019 on junk silver. For the last two plus years I have been buying junk silver I prefer junk silver it’s not worth it for china to counterfeit silver dimes and quarters it would become a federal offense also everyone knows what a minted US silver dime or quarter is, post collapse or inflation they can be used for bartering, in Portland OR during the 70’s there were gas stations accepting silver as payment for gas, dollars were losing value silver was gaining value they got more gas using silver verses the dollar

It's a simple formula when it comes to fractional silver bullion or previously circulated junk silver and that's this, if one can of beans can be obtained for one gram of silver and you have tenths of an ounce or 1 oz or even larger denominations of silver what good will it do you? In a survival scenario or a currency collapse scenario silver is not seen as an investment it is seen as a potential medium of Exchange and of course the smaller the coin, round or bar, the more divisible it is. Larger denominations of silver and gold can be seen as an investment but smaller denominations are all about the survival currency collapse context. Of course fractional silver costs more because of higher premiums associated with it and this is precisely because the dealers understand and it costs more to manufacture and produce smaller denominations. To say that you hate a certain kind of silver just shows that you don't understand what is going on. I hope I have explained it so that now you understand why people buy such small denominations and why manufacturers produce it in the first place.

    • @DrSchor
      @DrSchor 10 місяців тому

You did not explain why larger denominaitons are less divisible than smaller. anything can be cut as small as you like.

  • @Ninjasnail1926

so question, if you stack the smaller rounds to use as a way to barter? why not the smaller rounds? wouldn't you want smaller rounds to pay for small amounts of things you might get? lets say all I want is a loaf of bread. I pull out a 2 oz or 1oz round. when I could of used a half oz. if that makes since ? all answers welcome Shalom

You say these small quantities of silver are the worst silver to stack, but how do you think you're going to split your silver up when you need to barter for what you need you going to take a pair of snips and cut it into pieces or perhaps a saw use your brain and some common sense these rounds are made for that reason. You're not going to give an ounce of for something that cost less then the value of that silver.

I have always had trouble saving money (my wife is a little worse about that than I am). I had to find a way to get her onboard with my silver stacking journey (get her to help budget silver purchases into our monthly budget). One way I found to do that, was to use it to appeal to her personal interest. I found a way and will get to that in a minute. Being on a budget though, yeah, economically, it may be better to avoid fractional silver and just go with FULL ounces, but for every budget and every situation, how practical is that? We have found some cool looking 3 and 4 nines coins and rounds, and not all of them are one ounce. Why does it matter if they look COOL you ask? Well, this is kinda a personal security feature. See, the wife and I developed an emotional attachment to the coins, based on their beauty and that goes for the generic rounds too. See, she LOVES cats (house pets, felines, Lions, cheetahs etc). It just so happens there are coins like that and we have some. There are also a few rounds like that, and not all of the coins and rounds are one ounce. But for the sake of stacking and making consistent purchases every month to grow our collection, I have at times convinced her to buy a half ounce coin or round with some kinda cat on it. The emotional attachment to our silver (and what gold we have) prevents her from wanting to sell them at the wrong times. Saving fiat currency just dont work, cuz someone always wants this and that (usually her but even I cant throw any stones there). When you stack silver coins though (constitutional, 3 and 4 nines coins and generic rounds) if like me, you are fascinated with coins, then selling will be a really hard thing to do, even when spot price gets to $80, $100 or maybe $120. Not sure how realistic that is anytime in the next few years, but I can hope. It'll be a bitter sweet day when we do sell our silver and gold. I am fascinated with coins and always have been and I even like the designs on many of the generic silver rounds. My wife is fascinated with them too now and I enjoy doing this with her. Finally, we agree on something lol

And recently bought some more generic 1oz coins that were less than $1 above spot. Are those any better? I figured buying anything as close to spot was a good deal, silver is silver best price should win? Enjoy the videos man.
