Gotta love those old ALCO's and MLW/ALCO clones! But I wonder how much longer you'll see them running on these shortlines. I would have to imagine parts for them will start getting awfully scarce. I think the old ALCO 251 engines are still being manufactured under license, but the original Westinghouse traction motors probably aren't easy to replace parts on...
A majority of parts can and are made but yes once they go down for a while but if you take care of them right they'll run for a long time! In the case of the Ontario Midland they'll be getting a fresh ECO GP40 within the next year or so and currently their shops can only hold 2 locomotives so someone's getting kicked out. 416 & 417 are both still great runner's but 416 sure smokes a lot more!
I'm not sure of the lines heritage but if i had to guess i'd say its former New York Central and i think the bell is real, all LA&L affiliated companies use real bells!
Both are! 416 was built as Canadian Pacific RS18 8761 and rebuilt as RS18u 1811, 417 was built as Canadian Pacific RS18 8738 and was later rebuilt as 1850.

Excellent!!!!!!!!!!
wow... a conrail caboose... such a rare rare sight!
It was definitely a surprise to see it!
CR Caboose Is Cherry On Top
Given the colors, is this an old Erie RR line? Love the action, HATE the electronic bells.

@@WesternNewYorkRailfan420sounds like the crossing bells are electronic.
I'm such a sucker for MLW/Alco Locomotives. Is 416 an Ex-Canadian Pacific?

Very nice video. Thank you for sharing with us.
@@WesternNewYorkRailfan420 Thanks! That's what I had thought. I love the RS-18, thanks for sharing the video!
Are those Alcos gas hogs that they need to pull a tanker of fuel with them!!?😁
Alcos and MLW are more efficient than EMD locomotives when it comes to fuel consumption, but the ALCO/ MLW’s will need more attention 😅
*Welcher Rd.
Thanks, no clue where I got Ressue Rd from
