I'm really glad I found your channel! Just found it today and I already binged all your videos until this Video - Now, I can't wait to watch the other ones! I love your content!
Fantastic video! Could you do a short video or some sort of explanation as to why Constantius and then Constantine got Hispania added to their territory and why Galerius got Asia Minor. Was it because of their change from Caesar to Augustus?
Thanks a lot for your feedback ! Indeed this is, according to the sources I used, because of their accession to Augustus. If I was to guess I would say that Constantius didn't see the point in moving his already established headquarters from Trier to Mediolanum. And both Galerius and Constantius wanted a bigger piece of land since the provinces they already had (Balkans, Gaul, Britannia) were not the best the empire could offer. Plus this did not reflect their new imperial rank
He,also, managed to reconquer Lower Germania, along with the Dacia.I wish he had lived long enough to win against the Persians,he would have been undoubtedly number 1.
I wish there were more videos on Constantine's foreign wars, conquests, and building projects. It's always the same narrative with the civil wars, Christianity, and Constantinople.
@@ancientsight Constantine's military records are impressive, so his reforms and building projects. You need a video of an hour to deal with all he achieved.

Everyone understands that the late empire refers to the centuries leading up to the fall of the West in 476. Youre not more knowledgeable or special because you go “um actually muh eastern Rome 1453” it’s just a way people divide up historical periods
@@mike-gn1wi The motive behind the division is based on centuries of false information and bigotry. @@mike-gn1wi What you imagine about my motives is irrelevant. 1) The term "Byzantine" was created for nefarious purposes which pretty much everyone acknowledges 2) Although most today hold no ill intent with the inaccurate labeling, the use of it creates a false view of the past. Bravo!!! This is an excellent and clear (and fun) explanation of how Rome went from Diocletian's tetrarchy to Constantine by himself.

At the creation of the Tetrarchy, the reason for such an initial repartition was that, each emperor was to have 3 of the 12 dioceses
Been slowly burning through your videos, tip top shit my man, honestly.

Great video love your work thanks
Constantine deserved the title of "The Great" just from his military achieivements alone.
I believe his actual title is "The Greatest" from coins I've seen of his.
Maximus means the Greatest in Latin. I don't recall him using Magnus.
Great video man!
Thanks ! And it is only the start
Licinius along with his sons where ready to revolt and that why Constantine put them to death.
Definitely possible, I would add that Constantine learned that lesson with Maximian's betrayal
Licinius only had 1 son who was like 10 when Licinius was executed.
Licinius II was spared until 326 & killed around the same time as Crispus.
I wish there were more videos on Constantine's foreign wars, conquests, and building projects. It's always the same narrative with the civil wars, Christianity, and Constantinople.
This video fails to mention that he had reconquered Dacia and most of the territories Rome had under Trajan,
@Christus Regnet You have a point, I had to make a choice in order to limit the video to 20 minutes, I chose to focus on the main story

All I ask is don’t change map colour from red to purple just coz the Catholics said so! RIP Rome 1204
Yes I think I'll keep the roman red
Thats the canaanite color. Why would you keep the roman one if theyve been conquered?
Red is the colour of Rome.

Did the emperors not wear purple after the Republic ended?

How exactly is Constantine late Roman Empire? The Empire lasted for a thousand years+ after him. By that standard he'd be early or mid Roman Empire.
