- Canva Tutorial: How to Create a Countdown Timer Video in Canva // In today’s Canva tutorial you’re going to learn how to create a unique countdown timer video for FREE!!
Follow my 5 easy steps to create your own countdown clock that nobody else has seen before.
It doesn’t matter if you want to make a 30-second countdown timer or a 5-minute countdown timer. Once you learn the technique you can use it to create any kind of countdown video.
I’ll show you how to animate the template using Canva’s ‘timer’ feature so that it counts down each second.
Once done I’ll show you how to download your completed timer as a video and then add it to your video editing software.

I usually change the slide timer on my first page and then I duplicate it, and the time of 1second will be copied for other pages.

Hi Nicky thank you for sharing! If I wanted could I keep this timer as square just to resize it to small? And is it possible to make a round timer in Canva?
You can make whatever size / shape timer you want in Canva ;)
can you make one for 25 minutes using this method? counting down by seconds? it would be about 1500 slides
No, unfortunately you cannot use more than 350 pages at a time in Canva.
Hi Nicky, your video is very helpful, thank you so much...it helps me a lot with my workout videos. With Canva free, is it possible to add a beep sound into the timer? for example for the last 3 seconds, so the viewers know that the workout will be over in 3 seconds.
Hi there, thanks for your lovely comments. What you could do is upload a 'beep' audio file from a site such as Zapsplat (you'll find a link in my UA-cam descriptions) into Canva. Then add the audio file to the video editor in the final 3 seconds. If you're unsure how to use the video editor I'll grab the link for you...

Great tutorial. I only have one problem. I need to make a 5 min countdown and canva will only allow me to do 250 pages and there is 300 seconds! 🤦🏼♀️ Now what do I do? lol
