The rest of the conversion team and myself would like to thank you once again for a successful mega-campaign; we look forward to it each year and you never disappoint. Looking forward to the redux!
So I'm not new to the whole mega campaign thing but I never have done one myself, so I am curious, so in the most basic way you can, how the hell does this work?
China having a million unification wars before finally setting aside ambitions of conquest and forming a faction together is basically the same story as the European Union.
It would be cool if you did a run where in CKIII or imperator you got mad overpowered but allowed for your empire to collapse and splinter like Rome, allowing for you to cut a slice from it or play as someone different!
The end of year megacampaign is actually a really nice tradition, I look forward to it every December, hell I start rewarching the old ones in like November to get ready
0:27 Food for thought: instead of continuously staying with one polity, you could perhaps expand the narrative by roleplaying a multitude (who have been referenced) across the mega campaign. It also would mean you could be much more proactive in the EU4 stage.
Cog and barque torture (CBT) is a naval activity involving transportation of troops or landing to the enemy country. This may involve directly painful activities, such as building galleys, fighting the English navy, taking naval or maritime ideas, protecting trade with light ships or even attempting to understand naval combat.
Next mega campaign idea, start as Viking, take Mediterranean islands, specifically ONLY islands, become the scourge of the Mediterranean and raid everything for a thousand years
I think for next year, what you should do is change countries every game. Set up a very powerful Empire in CK3, then go to a completely different region for EU4 and do something different, and so on. That way it's fun to see what happened to the empires/countries you've set up further down the line
Next year there’s really one or 2 regions you haven’t put much into with the mega campaigns, north east Europe and Africa. I think you should start as a Polish wanderer and form the kingdom of Ghana!
He didn't *really* do China, tbf. He did India. I'd personally like to see him try to take out the Ming in Eu4, without having a huge amount of land before then.
I personally think that a run where you start in Europe as some small nation and run away to Oceania and become a development powerhouse would be a fun run of playing tall.
Really liked this campaign being less overpowered than the others, and I don't have any real critiques or anything to improve, but I am excited for the insane redux possibilities. Happy New Year gravy Father
Have you ever thought about doing a keisreich style scenario for your campaign? Like how the mega campaign at the end of the year is your "historical path" and throughout the following year you can go back to hoi4 for example and say "what if Japan woke up?".
wow this was a informative and helpful video that i am not just commenting to push engagement on, but one that i received life changing and inspiring information from!
My headcannon for the 3 Germanies is that at the peace deal they decided to ethnically split Germany among ethnic lines of German, West Slavic and East Slavic
I think it would be nice to watch a mega campaign where you have to go all out - where the difficulty is so high (such as via starting conditions, game difficulty rules, or mods, but not roleplay decisions) that you have to use all the tricks and tactics you know across all four games to succeed.
If you're going to do do a CK3 part in the Redux, then what about creating another Adventurer just after Anglyptian culture has been made in Britain? (CK3 allows creation of Adventurers post-start) That way you'll be able to play the part of the world you want and not sacrifice iconic Aneglytian culture in the process and Alexander's legacy (which is also a way for you to see how AI will handle all that)
As an Idea for an Alt History Redux Campaign maybe: 1) Could you have saved Lorraine in 1817 (VIC 2 Start Date) 2) Could you have survived as one of the smaller east EU States (EU4 Start) 3) Could you have kept the Mogul Empire alive in Vic 3 (and beyond(?)) Idea is to have a bit more Challenge in them and really get an alternative way of the history playing out.
an idea i had for the next mega campaign, instead of being sleepy for a while in the middle, you could start as a bigger nation and conquer lots, and then have like a fall from grace/implosion of the realm and then battle it back against lots of equally strong powers? happy holidays
Next year you could do some sort of steppe civilization and create a giant central Asian empire but then maybe purposely fall behind technologically and militarily and allow the rise of nationalism to fracture your empire in a sort of “century of humiliation” in Vic 3 before finally falling to radicalism and revanchism to reconquer your old territories in HOI4
This might not be applicable to the Redux campaign, but I think starting as a wanderer was a fantastic choice to prevent snowballing. It might be worth it in the future to play as more than one generation of wanderers before settling down? As well as this, I would like to see a non-European place next mega campaign, such as north Africa, the middle east, or Iran. These are always a pleasure though!
The positioning of Europe being ruled by 5 emperors was really interesting and generally this was good, maybe not as enjoyable as Pepe’s version but that was mostly down to the CK3 character quite literally having no personality. Speaking of CK3 I really want more content on that, roads to power has made both landed and unlanded characters so much fun that I really want to see more.

the biggest irony of the campaign is you ending the campaign on the same side as the Byzantines considering you ate like 1-2 of their emperors
If you can't eat 'em, join 'em.
A deposed emperor doesn't count. He only ate 1.

I think next year a Persia run would be great, maybe take some odd religion like nestorianism or tengri into the Iranian Intermezzo
There's this one nestorian county on a stupid island that is pain to play as they are in the middle of the ocean and are near persia
Or maybe go Zoroastrian, going a bit ham in eu4, then having to deal with westernization/unrecognized depending on which Vicky game he plays
