- The Trans-Mongolian Railway is one of the greatest rail journeys of the world. I shot this footage on the way from Moscow (Russia) to Beijing (China) and on to South China. More than 15,000 kilometres.
It was a once in a lifetime adventure.

Since many of you were commenting on how much Nejla, the girl in the movie, is smoking: she quit. 5 months ago. And so did I. Smoking kills.

Amazing video! Thank you for sharing! 3 years ago at this time I was sitting on the train heading to Irkutsk, and then Mongolia and China. I look at your video and memories come back to my mind, like playing basketball in the evening somewhere in the Gobi, not too far from Dalanzadgad. Thank you again!

Pitto - Mono Desire (Feat. Manu Delago On Hang)
Great video great travel, a lot of sensations we could feel there, it´s so real, congratulations.
nice video, nice images. It would be wonderfull to travel in such a beautiful country
Great and informative video. You did excellent camera work, unlike some videos that give you a headache from all the shaking with the camera. You must have very steady hands. The camel ride looks like a lot of fun! It is great that the passengers are allowed to get off the train and interact with the Mongolians. Very peaceful and restful background scenery.
Divinal, obrigado pelo video
Wowww!!! I mean this video is seriously worth commenting on. Fine piece of music, beautiful scenery , lovely people ... I liked this clip a lot, so much so that it made up me sit up and put down a comment (I haven't commented on a video in years). Hats off !!! From Pakistan

3.01 how cutie & fluffy cheek that little kid, too cute ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
it great to connect place to place, but the train need update for better train
before watching, i was thinking it gonna new fast railway train lolz 😂
I just really want to make sure i could remember all the whole station name from Beijing to Moscow. Then i wouldn't lost if i can remember where i am. Hopefully one day i can challenge from Beijing to moscow by the international train.
1.45 is Irkoutsk.
2.30 is Irkoutsk to Beijing train, which was of magenta color. Now out if service.
4.45 I guess it was the famous Yolyn-am gorge in the Gobi.
5.20 Famous Khongoryn-els sands in the Gobi.
Then from a nowhere camp in Mongolia the video skips to Gulin. A lot of railroad stops were missed en route.
13.53 Tiger leaping gorge in Yunnan.
16.00 Fire fest rampage in Dali.
Awesum vid a bit different than other vblog which is good.
Beautiful video, I envy you.
Maybe you should change the video title because there is not much footage from the actual train, but great video. Love it
wow wow wow, very nice piece of documentary here, i really love your artistic sense and your attention to details ! I've done a travel documentary too and always thought that there's gotta be a voice-over on things like this, that otherwise it would feel wierd but i stand corrected. By any chance, are you a fan of Vice News documentary ? there's the same kind of mood in what you do. Well, bravo, it was a nice 20 minutes of voyage, thanks a million :)
BEAUTIFUL VIDEO....GREETINGS FROM mADEIRA ISLAND =)....sorry caps lock
Thisis a good video and very interesting to watch with lots of great sights. Nejla Kalk is a pretty girl, but its a shame to see her smoking, or anyone else for that matter.
Regular railway is too time consuming, I would love to see a high speed rail build from Moscow to Beijing in my life time:) But, thanks for sharing this wonderful video, wished I'd the time travel to Moscow like this.
a very good video, thank you for making it. any chance of a bit more detail on the locations
What do want to know?
Philipp Katzer same here, where did you go? how long did you go for? how did you plan it? or was there no plan? and who was the Mongolian guy who was taking you places in his legendary vehicle? (or was he part of your group?)
I want to do the same thing sometime next year so am very interested in how you went about it. I've never recorded much stuff on trips, always photos, but watching your video makes me want to produce something similar for future adventures! great work - any info on that would be interesting to know
higginsworld We booked the train tickets from Moscow to Irkutsk in advance. Left the train there for a couple of days. Then jumped on a train to Ulaanbatar. There we hired a van with a driver through a mongolian friend. Toured around Mongolia for three weeks. Back in Ulaanbaatar we took the train to Beijing and beyond to Southern China.
the simple things are the best , less is more ..
Awesome!!!不愧是战斗民族!
This is great, where did you stop along the way?
I wish you didn't put so much music, its more interesting to hear people talk from other countries, you took out the human factor.
man! this is inspiring, do you have running blog or something?
i wan travel with this train soon
nice one! whats that track at the end? with hang drum (or something similar) melodies? :)
Not the train I'd get on, with all them smokers.
Thanks for the vid. I've been duly informed.
Thanx for this guyz love the footage..I want to go now...THANX
Hey Philipp, how long are the stops in places like Baikal & Kazan? And how frequently do the trains arrive and depart?
I just have to ask you about the name of the first song... Mesmerizing. And great work btw. Thanks! Philipp Katzer
Nice video!! I read in the comments that you organized the trip around Mongolia on your own, but can you tell me what areas did you visit exactly? Thanks
Philipp this is really great. I'm currently in the process of planning a documentary along the same route it looks like you took. I wondered if there was any way I could contact you to get some advice? Great job!
Thank you, Lawson. To contact me take a look on my website. There is a contact form. www.philippkatzer.de
thanks a lot Philipp. I just sent you a message. Have a great day!
Nice work ! Which is your video camera ? Very smooth quality ! ;)
Canon 60d
Great foottage.. What camera are you using?
Does anyone know the title of the first song in the video?
