is he being honest or is he appealing to your biases, not an honest appraisal with the warfarin, pricing he did not factor in the costs of the frequent blood tests
I figured that I would give an update. All this started about 2 years before the Covid pandemic hit. I started getting mini-strokes of vision loss in my right eye that would last a few minutes then clear up. It progressed to 2 or 3 a day, Well that was when the fun really started. I had emergency corotid artery surgery that didn't stop the strokes. I was put on 80mg. Atorvastaton/ twice a day that worked in the complete opposite of what it was supposed to do that almost killed me for 3 years. no more statins. I was on Apixiban/5mg./twice a day right from the start, Also 5mg. Ramapril twice a day, plus 40mg. Propranolol for the betta blocker for my eassential tremor. I had to scrape the barnicles off my outboard motor. Well with that little exertion my heart rate went up to 367/298 and pulse 109. I spent the next 10 days in the hospital while they ran every test they could think of. They even ran 2 Persintene tests because of my sciatica I couldn't do the treadmill. What they did find that I had hepatitis C of which I beat at a later date. Now, when Covid hit I figured with how down I was feeling that I better get the shot (maderna) against my better judgment. The next morning I woke up in a swimming pool for a bed and have had incontinence since. I kept telling the doctor to send me to a urologist but he wouldn't for 2 years. Finally he did and a few blood tests later I found out that I had a very aggressive form of bladder cancer. I was put on the BCG treatment for 7 weeks before my body rejected it, but I am so far cancer free. I heard about Nattokinase and decided that big pharma failed me on the mini-strokes. So I researched it and bought the highest dose capsules I could get 4,000fu so I took 3 once a day. The strokes stopped in 1 week and I haven't had one in 7 months to present. I have reduced the natto down to a couple every other day when I think of it. I also take Serrapeptase once in awhile also.
Nowhere did any of the literature say it will “Prevent” stroke, it says it “can reduce the chance” , etc, At best, maybe a possible 20% decrease, that’s not very impressive, considering the cost and efficacy.
My research has shown that Eliquis is used to prevent heart attacks and stroke, then further on I read that Eliquis can cause a heart attack or stroke... How do pharmaceuticals get away with this?
I do not have factor five In the 70s I was 14 after car accidents blood clots to both lungs but at that time they didn’t know what was going on At age 27 I had more clot to the lungs. All there was for treatment was warfarin. It’s on record that it did cause me to have clots I made the decision for over 10 years not to be on blood thinners. In 2010 I clouded up from the IVC Vein down to both legs and feet - I now have stents over half my body At this point, I had to go back on warfarin, which causes blood clots inside the stents I was fortunate that they got the clots out. I didn’t want to live at this point, and I was put on put Pradaxa which saved my life. Insurance company made me switch to Eliquis. Mentally it’s been really tough because Pradaxa has kept me from having any blood clots. Now I’m on Eliquis and scared to death.

I get Eliquis for $10 a month because the pharmacy will give it to anyone for $10 a month if you have insurance. With no blood tests needed, the answer is easy. Eliquis.
You sound pretty good but what do you do about the none stop bleeding from Eliquis? Do I have a choice to die of loss of blood even 2% is no good , aspirin causes heart palpitations ,sometimes feel like a heart attack, and cause A mental disruption , the ones you mention affect a serious side effect to emotion , mental , physical, warfarin is rat poison.
Significant value was in reality a half of a percentile. I looked at it and if I had a 2.5% risk of having a blood clot one year then taking warfarin versus eliquis would be about 2.4 or 2.35 as opposed to 2.5% per year. That's not significant for me but at least you can get vitamin k in your diet which is going to help your cardiovascular system and that's why I decided to switch.
I had a fib they gave me eliquis took it for a year or so but I hated the co pay and after talking to doctors and pharmacist I switched to warfarin had a few problems and asked my doctors if should go back to eliquis they all said NO warfarin was best for me , the question is why did they give me eliquis in the first place ??? But I know why they said warfarin in best that’s because they know about it warfarin has a long predictable history it took a while to get dosage right and getting blood tests every month is no problem neither is diet that’s my story
@alexciocca4451 Yeah, I think blood test once a month and diet would be the least of my problems, though if nutritious foods are banned, that might have consequences. Thank you for sharing.

How would YOU go about it if you had tis problem?
@Broxine When I was forty, I got off the plane after 16 hours (delay caused due to a strike in Heathrow). I was wearing tight boots throughout the flight because I was ignorant of the dangers. Landed with swollen feet and the next day I had dVT throughout the length of my legs. This was in 1990 and even my doctor in India had no idea. But she just put me on a medication called Dispirin. The clots dissolved and I was lucky enough to escape with no more harm. Edit: A fortunate side-effect (or a coincidence) was that suddenly I was cured of my life-long eating disorder and I developed a healthy appetite, which continues to this day.

I know this is 6 yrs ago, what a brilliant doctor you are. I had my second ablation 2/2024. Then I was put in Eliquis. Hoping by getting a Watchman and get off it. It is $600 a month, with my insurance it’s $125 a month. I live 1 hr from hospital. When you are on Medicare no coupons are accepted.how about that for a shocker. (2024)
My mom was on blood thinner went over a year losing blood getting blood transfusions, dies from complications due to colon issues. Fast forward 7 years my 81 year old neighbor just got told he is bleeding somewhere and should have a colonoscopy, taking Eliquis🤷♀️
Me tpp
Thank you Dr. LANDAU
I'm on Eliquis 5mg 2x daily for Afib. I've requested my HCP to take me off and I'll be going on Coumadin. After thinking about it I may refuse any anticoagulants. This is BIG PHARMA'S DREAM! I HATE THAT!!
why were you on blood thinner in the first place? The only person you are screwing is yourself.
Just Joan: How are you doing on Warfarin a year later?
Just Joan, like Mi Sha, I too would like to hear how you're doing now.
Just Joan, did you stay on Eliquis or switch to Warfarin?
I would love to have an update on how you are doing @Just Jone .
I had a weird fluke DVT when i rolled my ankle a few years ago. Got tested for a zillion potential causes of how or why, 0 explanations discovered. Couldnt walk. Got on elliquis for 90 days, was 100% normal after 3 days. Had 0 side effects the entire time, toward the end i cut myself pretty good working in the garage and was like uh oh.... literally was like any other cut. Didnt bleed really any more or less than a regular cut wouldve
They put me on Eloquis as I took too much allebuterol for my asthma .. I don't have AFib.. I have broken out in a rash and no one will listen to me !
I have been to a terrible dermatologist doctors .. and ER twice .. no one will take me off so I'm taking myself off it and I'm tired all of the time .. bruising .. I am off this awful medication!
@lindajohnson Good luck to you - I hope you get well and stay well! Asthma is an autoimmune condition caused by inflammation. Some of my family had it (as well as other auto-immune conditions like psoriasis) really bad and for decades, till we realized that diet was the culprit. We eliminated sugar, starch, oil, junk food and processed meat. Almost 100% reversal!
The FDA are not fit for purpose.
I’ve been taking Eliquis for 6 months, i’m always fatigue no energy at all, i gained 15 lb even with healthy diet, lots of fluid retention, and the period is terrible heavy and long .. i just hate it
Any anemia issues?
Nora, we're you able to get off Eliquis? Did you switch to something better?
Check out everyday health. These meds are nasty. This is the best they can do?
WHat if I cannot take eliquis for a day or two. My insurance got cvancelled asd the new one takes a couple of days to process. So I cannot take it for a couple of days as I cannot afford 500$ for 30 day. Iis it fine? please let me know anyone!
I went to get mom's pills said the insurance isn't paying it because something about deductible. She has to pay 500.She is getting samples from the dr.
In india for 6 dollars you can buy whole months supply of apixaban ,just buy the generic one
I have been taking penicillin since 2020 and I appreciate your video I have pulled away from eliquis and it has ate the inner stomach lining up. I am trying like heck to get my stomach to work I am going to take no more blood thinner do I live or do I die the bleeding was very bad and I'm sure that dying is not that painful
The only opening on my head that was not bleeding or my ears and my eyeballs 👀
Mine was an aorta valve, and I'm not sorry I did the surgery but I've learned
P
Side effects?
14:17 It seems if you're going have a DVT clot pulled out the doctors I have spoken with want you on Eliquis for at least a month. The possible catastrophic bleeding is very scary though.
In India Eliquis price is rs.75 per tablet. But Indian company NATCO launched APIGAT at rs.24 only per tab.
Well now we can reverse 🔄 with Andexxa so which would you chose if cost was not an issue ?
$58,000 for Andexa, I heard.
Thanks for sharing such valuable information it'll help make my discussion making 2 avoid THIS @ ALL COSTS..🙏
Significant value was in reality a half of a percentile.
I looked at it and if I had a 2.5% risk of having a blood clot one year then taking warfarin versus eliquis would be about 2.4 or 2.35 as opposed to 2.5% per year. That's not significant for me but at least you can get vitamin k in your diet which is going to help your cardiovascular system and that's why I decided to switch.
how do I get a co-pay card?
Need coupons
Long term use of PPIs can also lead to iron deficiency anemia.
I am on xarelto, I've been diagnosed with anti phospholipid blood disease
One of the side effects of taking eliquis is lowering hemoglobin. My mom gets transfusions. So why would a Dr prescribe her this drug?
To kill her.
In my opinion these Pharmaceutical companies don't care about what the medicine does. They just want the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Where is more info on it lowering hemoglobin?I was hospitalized twice with anemia in two months in 2023. Nearly died.
Few people talk about minor procedures in the hospital, must people stop apixoban?
Thank you for the good info. Eliquis. My husband contracted COVID which affected his lungs. They say there are blood clots in both lungs that need to be treated His Dr at hospital 🏥 prescribed Eliquis but I'm now learning of the myriad of possible side effects. Is there an antidote now in 2022? The price is steep and the risks are frightening.
Please advice!We need guidance.
There is an antidote now if you want to learn more about it. It’s called Andexxa. All the Best.
How long should it be taken?
For AF . . . Forever.
Hello Doctor Landow,
awesome video with lot of explanation, Thank you for all your work on all of those topics, i love yourvideos, they deserve way more views.
Me, 37yo male 77kg am in good health, have a DVT due to an broken foot.
have a lot of sideeffects on Eliquis.
I want to change to Warfarin/Marcumar in EU.
How do i go about disolving the bloodcloth/thrombus so i can get of this bloodthinning drugs in the near future?
Ive heard about bromelain, nattokinase but they all thin the blood even further...
@@MJ-hl1kk thanks for this tip. Its aspirin called in the EU. I got it disolved with warfarin and nattokinase
Thank you.
I never took the ones they perscribed..after falling into a paralytic coma after my kidney was shut down by a new blood pressure perscription called stroke from high blood pressure, not a 1920s bad prohibition booze coma paralysis...
Grew an aortic aneurysm bypass system of the mammary, epigastric, coastal, illiac, femoral arteries and do not need the same surgury that killed my mother..????

There’s more information here then your Dr. has time for.
That drug is hurting my liver.
Taking water pills. Plus, now seeing Liver Dr.😔!
I'm having some liver issues as well. About to have a ct scan and I'm pretty sure this drug is why.
What issues you had plz, how you doing now? My dad also on elquis and on water pill
My cardiologist put me on eliquis 2 months ago.i dont feel I have all the symptoms that they talk about, .these drs, love pills, probably kick backs, cost over 1400.00 yr. Out of pocket.
Is it safe to break Eliquis in half? Will it cause a stomach ulcer?
I was on xarelto switch from warfarin. What a relief though expensive . It was out of stock so had to take Rivelto. I am having bad reaction tingling all over left side of body and was about to switch back to xarelto when cardiologist suggested Eliquis. Hence research. If It has the side effects I’m reading may as well stick to xarelto
I have been on both no problems with either xarelto or eliquis
E líquido, 2,5 mg
This is an old video. Their are antidotes now for Eliquis. It is a much safer drug to choose
What is the drug?
A@@gladyswilliams804ANDEXXA
Can't afford eliquis
In India Eliquis tab price rs.75 per tab. NATCO pharma APIGAT tab price rs.24 only....
Cost 444.00 per month! I got a free one month coupon. I want to be off of this by January.
Eliquis gives me extreme nausea. 😣☹😖🤢
Eliquis caused the following:
GERD
Acid reflex
Loss of appetite
Stomach pain
Belching
Nausea
I’ll take aspirin to prevent blood clots.
Eliquis is of no use to people that suffer from A.P.S. false hope that leads to death if your not observant about clotting issues!!!
Warfarin is RAT
POIS😮ON
Hair is thinning
Me too
Greatly reduced my appetite. Plus a lot of burping.
Update: There is now an antidote. For example: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andexanet_alfa
