In the 1970s CSX predecessor Seaboard Coast Line hauled auto racks, trailers, and containers to Miami. By the time Seaboard System came around, they made a deal with the FEC to haul the auto and intermodal traffic from South Florida and interchange with them at Jacksonville. FEC is also Norfolk Southern’s access to South Florida.
