In the finale of season 1 when the missile hit the council there's like a golden glow around Mel. Now I don't know this for sure but I'm 90% certain that that was some kind of magic protecting her and apparently Jayce as well.
2 big references in the new opening: Jinx waving a banner like _Le Liberté Guidant le Peuple_ painting, and Caitlyn's shadow crown mimicking a scene from Macbeth.
5:57 they didn’t show the clip in the reaction, but right around this time of the episode it opens to a wide shot of the ground of the council room once it starts raining and you can see all the damage and cracks on the ground except for where Mel and Jayce were standing in the room. In a perfect circle too, almost like Mel shielded her and Jayce one could suspect.
You have to be patient to understand why Mel and Jayce survived, there is a frame from above the council room after the explosion where you can see a region that suffered no damage...it was where mel and jayce were sitting
I definitely also interpreted the golden glow from Mel's armor at the end of last season as some kind of defensive countermeasure magic. The missile triggered it and Jayce was within the protective bubble.
I wish they showed the golden glow again on the last episode of season 1 on the back of Mel, lots of people were confused. I feel like it will be explained more though as Jayce even acknowledges, he is questioning how he survived.
They are going to show you that, that's why Jace asked a question why am I perfectly fine we are just like her friends we don't know anything just like Jace, there's a reason for everything trust me
My favourite little Easter egg I’ve picked up on in this show, during the opening credits, the characters are depicted referencing classical plays… Caitlin is Macbeth, Viktor is phantom of the opera, Jinx is les mis, and mel and ambessa are shown in a shot resembling Ceasar I think… which is very interesting cus all those are tragedies in some way or another, which has me worried about how this season is going to go
Sunshine and roses no doubt. The question is, will it end more depressing than it started, with two orphans in a warzone, the younger closing her eyes and singing so she can't see or hear the violence and death surrounding them
They're not going for real, they're going for a fantasy world where these extreme body types actually exist, alongside robots, fish folk, and Yordles. It has verisimilitude, in that it realistically depicts what human beings would look like if we naturally had that much variation.
I think the missile pierced the glass and hit on the other/middle side of the room. That would make sense with who was really hurt and it wouldn’t make sense for a middle to explode from impact to glass.
Not going to comment on the glowing amulet because it seems somebody (everybody) already commented on it (does nobody peruse comments before posting one? Say it aint so!) I thought it was also notable Jayce commented on coming off without a scratch and Mel handwaved that *real* quick. On top of Jayce being on top of Mel in the opening meaning Jayce probably jumped on her as a reflex even though he was next to Victor. However Mel came out fine, there's more to it and it protected Jayce as well.
I get your point about the explosion, but the show addresses that point through Jayce and as a little hint, there some shots from the coucil room, where if you play close attention to the floor, you will reckognize something. I m sure this will be explained in future episodes.
Reviewing this chapter with you, I was able to notice that you can see small light blue lights that correspond to the use of hextech, which leads me to believe that they are perfectly fine because somehow Vicktor protected them, or some hextech element did.
I don't even go here (Arcane) but I saw the thumbnail and I was like, did nerdy shave his head? I got to hear the story. Edit: And then there was none and I just saw the short. 😂
I've talked to a bunch of dudes that lived through explosions. The glass would not cause the bomb to go off. So it likely hit the opposite side of the room. Every other person was killed or seriously injured. If you throw in the possibility of Mel's armor then it really all makes sense.
At the very end of the first season the gold in her outfit glowed just before the missile hit and at the very beginning of this one it is glowing for a brief second. my theory is that Merdarda is in fact a secret mage. which is why they're both perfectly fine.
"The physical reality has to match it" remember, there is magic and crazy steampunk technology and chemical technology *that we know of* in this world. Mel was literally glowing at the end of S1 before the missile hit, probably some kind of shielding (like Vi had with her Gauntlets when she fought Sevika) and Jayce was stood directly opposite of Mel in that room, I know, that's not how explosions work but, suspend your disbelief a little :P Also, remember Viktor had already started experimenting on himself with the Hexcore, he was already melded with it before Jayce connected them.
i too was weirded out at first bc of the “one of the good ones” talk, but upon rewatching the scene i think maddie just meant people in general bc she mentioned marcus right before, who was from piltover. idk, it’s up for interpretation i guess!
Mel's armour seems to glow when she is in danger. I assume she has some type of personal force shield which would have protected her and Jayce. Which would not be surprising for someone of her status and position.
Great reaction! Here's a few points of insight I wanted to share with you guys: 1. Silco is dead. The guy in the end credit scene is Singed the doctor that was working with Silco that created shimmer, Viktor also sought him out when he was experimenting with the hexcore and he offered him shimmer, and he was the doctor Silco brought Jinx to when she was dying following her fight with Ekko on the bridge. 2. There is a very prevalent fan theory that the golden accents all over Mel's body are actually some kind of magical artifact which activated when she was in danger which protected her and Jayce from the explosion. Mel is not in the game so we don't really have any additional information about it outside of what is offered in the show so this, for now, is just a theory. 3. Calling this season 2 of Arcane is kinda disingenuous because it makes you think there will be additional seasons but unfortunately that isn't true.. the creators have announced that this is the final part to this story in the world of League of Legends. But on the bright side they have said its a possibility that they create something new within the world of Runeterra after this.. but we don't know any more. Fun FACT!! The lore from earlier years of the game is extremely vague.. Jinx was added to the game in 2013 and based on her login screen music (which was a parody of Vi's login music) and one in game voice line the community speculated that she was Vi's sister, this was never confirmed by Riot until the release of the first season of Arcane in 2021.
@@vRED13vTTV That doesn't take anything away from my point.. it still sets the expectation that there will be additional seasons beyond this one, which is not the case.
Frankenstein isn't the monster, it's the doctor who made him, and acted like an immoral monster, although I do think Dr. Victor Frankenstein is an influence on the character of Victor, at least in the game. Also, I wouldn't tell Vander he's not their father. Explosions can be very random. Just because you are close doesn't guarantee you will be more injured than someone else. The location of furniture, walls, and all kinds of things like that can change how the blast shapes, and there's alotta randomness to how shrapnel goes out from the actual explosive itself. ACAB, but yeah, Vi and Caitlyn are cops, so this is kinda where we knew where we were going, it's just how did the characters get there? Or at least Vi, Caitlyn was already a cop.
Go back and watch the end of the last episode of season 1. When Jynx's missile is about to hit. Mel's armor began to glow. I think the armor protected her and Jase.
I suspect the show isn't focusing on the protection offered by Mel's golden glow because its going to tie into big reveals later in the season. I think at this point we should all have sufficient faith in the writers of this show to know that if you think you found a plot hole, you probably missed something or will find out in a future reveal.
