Good video overall but you did a lot of the rebuild out of order. Disassemble all the bits, then clean, then start with the shaft seal, then the vanes, then the rings. Also to bleed the system you just turn the steering from lock to lock 2-3 times while stationary. You can also avoid the dry startup by hooking up all the lines, adding fluid, then turning the pump pulley by hand (belt not installed yet obviously) to get some fluid into the pump body. Cheers
This is a super random question but I also own a e28 and the weird panel that’s next to the rear door broke and I don’t know where to find replacement fasteners to put it back on. Do u know where I can find some?
I’m glad I found your channel. There isn’t a huge amount of e28 specific content on UA-cam and I appreciate the DIY videos. Please keep doing what you’re doing
Great video.! Quick question though, you said you replaced the power steering filter inside the reservoir, what filter did you end up using as everything I’ve found seems to be NLA.
I got lucky finding one on google but they are definitely extremely hard to find now, Part number is 32411128167 I have heard some people are modifying ones they find online ( cutting and making shorter)
Nice work. I've got three cars all using this same ps pump, will have to try soon. I noticed your front bumper tuck, Nice! how did you secure it so the bumper stays square?
Rear still has to get refreshed but front was partially addressed in most recent video. But with my suspension setup the car still feels really planted.
I will never understand why half e28 owners say use ATF and the other half say use Pentosin. I have an 88 e28 that has a bad power steering whine and I argued with my father for 15 minutes about this. ( still haven’t fixed it yet , but I have 2 bottles of pentosin )
You can use any brand as long as it is Dexron II ATF. Says it right in the E28 Bentley service manual. Dex II is now called DEX iv which is what is used in the video. Your whine could likely be from using the wrong fluid.. let me know how it goes!

Best e28 pump rebuild I have seen on yt.
Thank you for sharing it.

What sand blaster was that?
Yea what sand blaster do you use, and where can I get one?
I think I got it from Tractor supply a while back. Definitely not the best but it's for sure getting the job done.
@@MissionmadeAirsoft what is it connected too? like what size compressor?
Hi, car wheels 17 radius? R17?

Hopefully I can find a way to restore the dash that’s what 90% of owners are struggling with

@@MissionmadeAirsoft I have to give that a try.

I see a quite lot of body roll when you're cornering in that parking lot. Have you sorted out all the suspension components?

There is NO pentosin that goes into an E28. ATF only for the steering.
Love your videos man, started watching when you fixed your blower motor, helped me do mine, now power steering pump is next on my list!
