Nice tips ...But the platform changed in July 2022. Yann seems to be the last person who took the exam in the format. New Format started July 1st started with the new format. You will have to use a remote terminal. No local screen anymore . Its an ubuntu remote Terminal. One monitor only, no longer 2 monitors. The terminal can be laggy. Also no notepad but i believe if Ubuntu has a notepad you can use it.
Thanks Asah!
Do you know if kubectl autocompletion works during the exam?
@@alphenit it does, at least when I took it
Yann, Once again a great summary and a lot of insights to get prepared well for the CKAD exam. I referred to your Kafka Confluent certification as well. This year my goal is to complete both of these certifications. Thanks for sharing your experience , Much appreciated !
That’s an awesome set of goals, Kannan! Very useful skills to work on right now. Thanks so much for the comments. :)
I just completed and passed (THANK GOD!) both CKA and CKAD! anyone who tells you the CKAD is the easiest is a LIAR!!! lol i took the CKAD and felt like because it's an all around exam it was a lot easier whereas the CKAD is focused on very particular things! My best tip is manage your time wisely, YOU NEVER HAVE AS MUCH AS TIME AS YOU THINK YOU DO lol
Thanks for sharing this. Can you also make a video/blog about what all resources you used for the preparation.
Thanks for visiting and watching! I share resources at this timestamp: ua-cam.com/video/7UzZU8KUqyw/v-deo.html hope that helps?
I'll list the 3 resources out here.
Labs and practice exam in A Cloud Guru course on CKAD.
Lectures from A Cloud Guru "Kubernetes Deep Dive" course.
Podcast: PodCTL, esp. the explainer episodes.
Indeed very useful tips. Thanks Yann for sharing your experience. Will surely help in my attempt to CKAD exam.
Thanks for your comment Harsh! Good luck on the exam 💪
Thank you so much for this vid. I did the training last year but just never got around to taking the exam. I am going to schedule it soon with your advice.
Glad to hear it Benjamin! That’s the beauty of this exam - you get to retake it for free (at least when I last checked), so you can be less cautious about waiting til you feel super solid on all the knowledge. Just give it a try, is what I told myself.
Thanks to you I passed.
Very helpful content, specifically the demo part. Thanks
Thank you Mohammed! I’m glad it helped :)
19:45 " whatever, I am gonna break my rule of copying and pasting everything" 🤣 thank you!
😅💯

Thanks for watching Mamun!

Aww I’m sorry to hear that. Thanks for sharing the update!
Can we use nano instead of vim?
Hi Eduardo -- I didn't try during the exam. But according to some blog posts and forums, it looks like both nano and vim are supported: dev.to/akdevcraft/certified-kubernetes-application-developer-ckad-exam-tips-4a1b and kodekloud.com/community/t/folks-we-can-use-nano-editor-for-the-cka-exam-correct-if-we-do-that-instead-of/99848
What is the typical size of questions? Is the example given a single question with three tasks or three separate questions? Thank you.
Thanks for watching, IT Learner! Typically there are longer questions, with multiple parts. I took the A Cloud Guru test prep course, and the practice exam was pretty realistic.
@@YannStoneman great, thank you for your kind information
Hi Yann. can you please tell me if we can use nano instead of vim in the actual exam
Hi Srikanth -- I didn't try during the exam. But according to some blog posts and forums, it looks like both nano and vim are supported: dev.to/akdevcraft/certified-kubernetes-application-developer-ckad-exam-tips-4a1b and kodekloud.com/community/t/folks-we-can-use-nano-editor-for-the-cka-exam-correct-if-we-do-that-instead-of/99848
Can I copy paste from browser to terminal directly?
I was able to. I don’t know if it’s changed since then.
Hello, do you know i to cancel the CKS exam purchase
I don’t work for the Linux Foundation, but I just googled ckad refund and found this: docs.linuxfoundation.org/tc-docs/certification/exam-terms-of-service
Looks pretty strict
@@YannStoneman Thank you
I don't think that "Podctl" is the relevant podcast to listen to in 2022 because they are things from 2017, and in IT plus the fast-moving Kubernetes, I will not trust the information so much.
Thanks Easy Snatch! I did also enjoy the “Kubernetes Podcast from Google” but I did think the old episodes from 2017 were uniquely clear in their explanations of the fundamentals … to me, hearing the history of how something was built in a well-explained way helps me build a better mental model.
Do you have any other podcasts you’ve enjoyed on the topic?
