    Yah and the major side effect of an asthmatic not using their inhaler is death, so I think these side effects are more tolerable!

    Thanks for your uploads Dr. I have pulmonary sarcoidosis. Most of my sarc symptoms have gone. But I was left with asthma after it subsided. I take Breztri currently and suffer mild side effects like muscle spasms and insomnia. Your videos have been very helpful and informative. Saves me virtual appointments with my pulmonologist for these kind of questions. Thank you.

    Thank you Doctor for your clear,concise,and understandable explanations. Your patients are lucky to have you! Having lived with COPD/Emphysema for 18 years I’ve experienced about all of the different medications and conditions you’ve mentioned.
    Due to previous pneumonia infections, I’m now complicated by pseudomonas aeruginosa and the accompanying Ciprofloxasin therapy and all that come with it. I just want to mention that through research I’ve learned of Hypertonic Saline. I’ve incorporated it into my nebulizer routine and it really helps to dislodge the mucus that accompanies pseudomonas. If you concur with my observation,you might mention it to other sufferers. It might help them as well. Thank you again!

      Hi there, I also suffer from COPD/Emphysema for about 8-9 years now. Almost a year ago I was also in hospital with pseudomonas bacteria I was also given really heavy doses of all the antibiotics like Gentromycin, Ciprofloxasin and others via drips, IV and tablets But there was also this one called colomycin which was inhaled via nebuliser. That colomycin felt really harsh on my throat and chest and would make me cough. And since then my condition has declined rapidly and I'm now on 24/7 oxygen and 10hrs plus of bipap machine.
      Did you also go through anything similar and also what is this hypertonic saline?
      And also where are from my friend if you don't mind me asking.
      I'm from the UK btw.

    I once used an inhaler, similar to your green one, which pierces the capsule. I had to discontinue it because the small broken piece of the capsule would stuck to my throat or pallet.

    Hi! - when using a volumatic spacer like the one shown in your video here, do we still need to rinse the back of our throats & gargle to avoid getting complications like oral thrush?

    • @DrStefanCristianStanel
      @DrStefanCristianStanel  11 місяців тому +4

      The spacers really do help a lot with reducing the deposition of large droplets on the throat and voice box but personally I would still rinse gargle spit as it's such a simple step although I do understand that there may be times when this is not appropriate

    Hi. Your video is very helpful. Thanks for taking time to share. I noticed I've gained weight and got puffy face after starting using an inhaler with these generic names beclometasone dipropionate/formoterol fumarate dihydrate. Is this normal? I am unsure if its water retention or the steroid stimulates weight gain. I've been using this 4 months.

    I have a question about asthma and inhalers. I don’t have severe asthma, but the past month my asthma has been really really bad, and my doctor is trying to stabilise it. He gave me a really strong asthma medication called trimbow, two puffs every morning and night.

    I HATE steroid based inhalers. Not only do they make me gain weight, i also notice instant mood changes (negative), muscle aches and pains, fatigue, mouth infections, and i become a lot more susceptible to colds, chest infections & the flu.
    I'm perfectly happy with the reliever inhaler (ventolin) as it provides me with instant relief as and when needed, and without causing me any side effects, but the doctors in the UK are now limiting prescriptions for the ventolin inhaler (only 2 per 12 month period) and they're forcing me to use the steroid based inhalers.
    This is causing me an extreme amount of stress, and I'd rather just have an asthma attack than be forced to use the steroid inhalers because of how they make me feel and how they lower my day to day quality of life.
    I don't understand why they won't just continue to prescribe me the ventolin inhaler monthly. I've been using it for over 30 years, and I've NEVER had any issues with it. Yet, they are forcing steroids onto me, and unnecessarily, along with the whole host of negative side effects that they bring.

    • @barbiekat6352
      @barbiekat6352 10 місяців тому +2

      He mentioned the amount of steroids contained in the inhaler dose is extremely small. The side effects you list seem unlikely to be caused by this medication.
      I’m not doubting you are experiencing these symptoms as I myself am extremely sensitive to medications… just that you might want to explore other causes.

      Weight gain is unlikely from a steroid inhaler. Either you’re overeating, not moving enough or got another condition that’s causing weight gain such as an under active thyroid.

    I’m getting desperate. I’ve got mild/moderate copd and atrial fibrillation. I’m on about my 5th change of inhaler and everyone gives me very painful reflux. I had a hernia repair and nissen fundopilication last year and hadn’t been on reflux medication until I started on inhalers. My cardiologist has me on Sotalol which I’ve read isn’t that good for copd but he says fine. I’m out of options for an inhaler. I tolerated side effects of anxiety, depression and nausea but the pain of reflux I can’t do this.

    🙏Thank you so much for your valuable explanation as to why it’s important to also gargle when rinsing mouth after using inhaler containing steroid. I was never told this. Also that it’s the larger particles that may cause the problem BUT they will usually remain in the spacer if it’s used…
