    Yes you saved our day! . We have the same garage door opener as you , yet we had already purchased the liftmaster 878. The graphic reference on the instructions indicated our learn button was red, but,,, here you called it purple. When we followed the instructions for the purple learn button,,, it finally worked!

    I tried something different and took the keypad off and brought it to the opener with the door shut and sure enough, it worked the very first time, Thank You for your concern. I would like to tell you something that you might have already picked up on youtube but it sure helped me when I found this out. My remote in the car stopped working unless I drove close to the garage and I would have to click it over and over sometimes the door would open and sometimes it wouldn't and then pretty soon my wife's remote started doing the same thing, I looked on UA-cam and found out that some LED light bulbs cause interference with the opener and so I went back to the incandescent bulbs and the Opener worked like normal, I guess some CFL's will work also. I went online and found out that Genie makes LED bulbs that have shielding so as not to cause that kind of interference, I also checked online and found another company that makes LED bulbs for the Garage Door Opener but they are very expensive. I just thought if anybody had put LED's in their openers and they started having this trouble now they know it is the bulbs, not the battery or the remote.

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  6 років тому

      Robert Klein I’m glad you discovered your issue. I actually have a video discussing the issue with LED bulbs and even have a follow up recommending the Genie bulbs. Thanks for sharing that information here as well. People like you make the UA-cam community even more valuable.

      Ian W Great question. I don't know but I think you could get one keypad to work with both openers. The keypad simply emits a frequency based on the code keyed in. The keypad doesn't know the code for the opener. You should be able to set each opener separately.

      Eternal U Burgess This may sounds simple but did you try new batteries? It could light up with a weak battery but still not have enough power to transmit a strong enough signal.

    That's a noisy door. You might want to get your tracks aligned. It'll be much quieter. :)

      @TightWadDIY  8 років тому

      William Gibson You must have a different brand or model. What brand and model do you have?

    • @williamgibson736
      @williamgibson736 8 років тому

      TightWadRepairs keypad doesn't have anything identifiable, the opener is a Chamberlain electrolift superglide

      William Gibson Check inside the battery compartment for a model number. If you can't find one I don't think I can be of any assistance.

    For next time consider not hiding any steps... some people can get confused. But overall thanks for the helpful video

    You don’t have to cover your hand to secret your code , you still reset a new number easily

    well after two years of owning that brand of pin pad opener, it glitched out and locked me outside.

      Danny Pops Did you replace the battery? The same thing happened to us and that’s all it was.

      @DannyPops 4 роки тому

      @@TightWadDIY hmm, no. I think what I did is somehow reset the code accidentally when I was typing it in. But that usually takes two simultaneous presses.

    I don't like how any schmoe can just come up, take the battery out, and leave anyone counting on this panel for access out of luck. They should have designed the battery cover so that it was at least secured by the bottom screw hole. It wouldn't be foolproof, but still way more secure than making it accessible to anyone who comes along.

      There are about three major brands. Just stay within the same brand and you are usually good. The only issue is when you have really old equipment.
