I bought my house in Italy. Calabria but I won't say where. 15 000 Euros, 5000 m2 of land on an olive grove with a beautiful seaview.Still needs renovation. This will cost approximately 15k extra. No direct neighbours but close to the village with lovely people. It's very safe. The sea is turquoise blue, an 8 minute drive away. I feel blessed to have found this place :)
how did you find it? is there a website to use to browse the properties? I'm looking to find a place similar to what you described and then do the renovation work myself.
We visited the Salento to meet up with a very good friend who lives in San Pancrazio. His family is lucky enough to have a beach house in Torre Lapillo ( near Porto Cesareo). What a beautiful, underrated area! The beach, the food and wine, the history...I would go back in a heartbeat!
We've been considering buying a place in Malta where we might spend the winter when we retire but Salento has been short-listed and has the advantage of being on the mainland. Hope we can make our dream a reality, thanks for the videos.
We visited Nardo last summer and stayed in Nardo (August) the town is extremely lively at night and ram packed with Italians very few foreigners and we loved this, authentic. Restaurants and cafes are excellent, and from here you can easily travel around Salento. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nardo for a visit or to stay in Pulgia. My family and me loved it. Plus cheap property as you can see, amazing views for €165K! In London you couldn't even buy a garage for that price!
Great video! That house seems like an incredible deal considering the location right on that square, facing a beautiful church. Add to that the fact that it's two units - not one - and looks fairly recently remodeled, plus that incredible rooftop terrace. It's a fabulous deal. Side note: that meandering bathroom in the 2nd apartment was pretty unique and no doubt a creative use of an awkwardly shaped space! Good stuff!
Nice! I like you add in the pastries in the video. Sometimes you mention the price and that is useful imo because it shows us something about the cost of living in that area.
Wow I just got recommended your channel, and you have impressed me with the quality. Wonderfull color grading and spectacular audio. Keep doing what you're doing because it's working.
Amazing video and presentation, we really enjoyed your style - even better than a TV travel show production! We've now added Nardó to the list of places we will visit when we venture down south in the next year or so! Thanks again for a really great video 🤩
Love Nardò, it's beautiful, but the population is too high to take advantage of the 7% flat income tax on overseas income for foreigners relocating to Southern Italy. However, I think there are still many cool places in the Salento region with populations less than 20,000, which would qualify for the tax benefit. This is particularly relevant for foreigners on an elective residence visa based on sufficient passive income.
@@shamaldambora8931 As I understand it, if a foreigner takes up Italian residency in one of the Southern regions in an area with less than 20,000 residents (or in certain Central regions affected by recent earthquakes), and comes from a country with a double tax treaty or financial reporting arrangement with Italy, they can elect to pay Italian income tax at a flat rate of 7% on their foreign source income (pensions, dividends, rental income, cap gains, etc) for the first 10 years of their Italian residence. Google Italy 7% tax and you'll see lots of info..🙏
Hope you’ll tell us a little about yourself or your connection to the Salento - you obviously speak Italian based on your pronunciation of the place names and foods etc. I enjoyed seeing Nardò again in your video. Thanks.
There are lots of towns in Salento that are historical, beautiful and with a small population. I'm maybe biased, but I would suggest my home town, Alessano. Around 7000 people and a LOT of history. We were an episcopal see (so we had a Bishop and that is reflected by the beauty of our main church) and also had a Ducal Palace used by the many lords of Alessano (even the Gonzaga, vary famous noble family of Italy). We are not directly on the sea but we have a "marina" (like a separated sea location few kilometers away that is still part of the town) with very beautiful sea (Novaglie) and we are at the center of the Capo di Leuca so you can go basically to all the main sea location with some minutes of car and you can always get the perfect sea depending on the wind.
Great video and thank you. I lived near Bari for 7 years and very nice. I'm surprised you didn't translate "tetta della monaca" - it looks just like one. 😅
I've been watching Italian property and tourist videos for years and now has yours shown up on my feed. Beautifully filmed and produced!! Of course the properties and subject matter is fantastic. Very well done!
❤❤❤ Very nice! I love and appreciate the artistic approach of this episode. Also, your calm energy makes watching it so relaxing. How refreshing! Thank you! I am so looking forward to the next one! Bravo!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@@invecedidormire1 well, quite frankly I did not know this or pay attention to the guy showing the property as I was looking at the property itself. 😂😂. Also, I assumed the video was edified that way….Maybe the guy was “camera shy” and in “true Italian macho man manner” would not dare admit to it….assuming he agreed to being filmed beforehand 😉🤨
I like the presentation of your content; more of a casual walk than an infomercial. I'm always curious about the background of the narrator; Local? Expat? Architect? Geometra? Realtor? Traveler who finally settled down? Do you have a video introducing yourself and your story? I am considering a move to Italy after I finish some family obligations and have a colleague (Dutch with Lebanese wife) from my United Nations Peacekeeper days who lives in Brindisi. Take care!
Very good a great feel for a place. It would be helpful to give prices for food, lunches, coffee, beers etc, just to get anunderstaidng of the cost of living in the area
Great video! I clicked because i know Nardò because of the testing track but didn't know anything about the town (in fact i thought it would be way up north). The video is amazing altho i'll say that i don't like the house lol. The ceilings are great and it seems luminous but i just feel like the spaces are strangely laid out. if you're going to rent it all the time then it makes sense but if not it's really not my cup of tea. Also, that location looks good but i'm wondering how it sounds! LOL. do the bells ring every hour? or just at mass time? If you like it it looks like a decent opportunity.
Lovely video of a lovely town in Puglia. I've just returned from Giovinazzo (another beautiful Puglian town) to Rome and it's always painful leaving the incredible light and life of Puglia, the food, the religious processions, the sounds and odors of the seaside and olive grove... The Salento is outstanding with La Taranta as the theme music to life. Well worth a visit and well worth the leap into the lifestyle. David
can you show an example of a roof top terrace that someone has made into a relaxing, shaded outdoor space? Is furniture allowed? Privacy walls? Potted trees? Etc. Thank you!

La dolce vita in Italy or La vida loca in Spain….been looking at towns/villages (under 50K population) in Abruzzo and Molise in Italy; as well as Catalunya, Andalucia, and Valencia in Spain…want to buy a home in both countries and split time between them and our home in the US (in Virginia, near Washington DC).
Grande video! Bravo. I toured Salento last October and was taken under it's spell. So much so, I apparently got a speeding ticket in Maglie, who knew. Seriously, this is such a special part of Italy. I have family in Northern Puglia (Garganico), but very different from the Salento peninsula. Mille grazie. 🇮🇹🙏🇺🇸
Wow, I too toured (for very first time) Salento last 10 days of September, first week of October last year. Coincidently, I had planned on visiting the Garganico part of Puglia ( Vico del Gargano had a property for sale I really like) however I had to drastically alter my plans as my travel companion had gotten sick. Needles to say, unfortunately, I was not able to make it there at this time. 😢Ugh!

Is that the price?? 165,000 euros for all of that?? That's very good.! In Australia you will be able to buy just the Toilet for that kind of money, and don't expect any paper included.!!
Do you realize most people make around 1000 usd per month there? Salento has a massive problem with unemployment and it's fairly depressimg in the winter.
