    I will show you how to make a throw pillow with fringe.
    Would you love to know how to make a throw pillow with fringe for your bed or sofa? You can easily make one for yourself! I will show you how easy it is to make a custom throw pillow for your bed or sofa and achieve professional results. This video contains all the tips and tricks for your success. You can be a beginner sewer and make a pillow that looks like you bought it from a designer. In fact, I sold many pillows like this to many of my clients when I had my design business. If you make a pillow like this, it won’t be nearly as expensive but look exactly the same.
    Why bother when there are so many pretty pillows in the store?
    I buy throw pillows from the store too but only when there is something so special about the fabric or trim that I don’t think I can find and duplicate. The great thing about making a throw pillow with fringe is that you can CUSTOMIZE it to your decor. I can make a pillow like this in any size imaginable, for any purpose imaginable. There are thousands of choices and combinations that will fit into your room perfectly, without having to compromise on size or style. Brush fringe is the perfect addition to the design of the fabric that I’m using because it is multi-colored to blend with all the fabric colors, softens the square edges nicely and gives the pillow a more romantic touch.
    The pillows that I’m making in this video are being used as decorative bed pillows, as a backdrop for smaller pillows. They are very comfortable to lay on because I chose the right pillow form. I will show you how to choose the correct size form for your pillow, regardless of size. Follow my tips and you can make comfortable and professional looking pillows too.

      You're very sweet, Diana! I'm still doing projects, I just haven't filmed much lately. I just finished gutting and remodeling two bathrooms and am now on to reupholstering chairs. Covid pretty much took took the wind out of my sails for producing videos. I'm trying to find my way back! Thanks for watching! I truly appreciate it, Renee

      Hi Joan, South Africa!! My Dad travelled there a few years ago for a weightlifting event. It was 27 hours of plane travel. You are very far away but thankfully UA-cam makes the miles disappear! I love to sew and I'm self taught so I'm sharing all the things that I've learned over the years to make projects turn out looking professional. I'm so happy that you found me. If you're looking for more information, please go to my website - reneeromeo.com - and look under my SEWING and REUPHOLSTERY playlists for more content. Thanks for reaching out! All the best to you, Renee

      Rina, Thank you!! I made the duvet cover on the bed too. I never find bedding in the stores that has beautiful fabric - well, at the price I'm willing to pay! I've made duvet covers for all the beds in my home and pillows to match. I know that a large project seems intimidating but when you break it down into smaller parts, it's easy to accomplish. And... you'll get gorgeous results. If you're interested, here is the video: reneeromeo.com/2017/03/18/how-to-make-and-sew-aduvet-cover/

    i never clipped the fringe or any corners before as I was lazy. Now i know how much better it will be if i clip. I love your cat so cute. thanks for telling us that fringe is looped on the edge and can be cut. im wondering if a stretch stitch will prevent puckering. or a bigger stitch. in any case it is beautiful what you do and lovely . i mean if your going to make an effort to make a pillow it might as well have decorative edging. I feel like im in a class and its free.

      gypseygirl731, First, thank you so much for viewing this video - I so appreciate your time! My kitty thanks you too. 🙂 I think the issue with puckering has to do with the machine not being powerful enough to handle all the layers of fabric and trim. I also think that it's worth a try to set your machine on the longest stitch and see if that prevents the problem. I rarely use a stretch stitch because it's impossible to take out if I don't like the results (which is most of the time). Also, you can try to let the machine feed the fabric under the presser foot instead of you trying to guide it (I hope that makes sense) and see how it goes. Try checking out my Sailrite sewing machine review too. If you love to sew home decor projects, an industrial sewing machine may be just the thing for you. It's made all the difference in giving me professional results. I love my power tools! Please let me know if this helps, Renee

    Thanks for yet another great video! Just a couple of questions . I have some calico that is very thin, so I was wondering if I could use this instead of the flannel for the underneath of the outside fabric. I also wondered if there was a particular reason that you didn't use a zipper or button closure on the cover for ease of laundering the cover. I also wondered if using a walking foot would save having to ease the fabrics together to save it puckering? It's just a thought that came to me when I saw you doing this. I also loved the way you pulled the fabric taut as you were sewing along because whenever I do that I feel as though I am cheating! lol I have seen that trim but didn't know what it was called before. I've also seen the line with the thread holding the trim together but I thought that it was a part of the trim, so I'm pleased that it comes out because it put me off what I thought could have been a nice trim if not for that side! 😊 Pulling that thread out would be my favourite part too ... The joy of seeing how pretty it was and the magic happening! I was also tickled to see you using your little armchair for your pins! I'm going to make one that will not only hold my pins, but make the seat big enough to hold needles and perhaps a pair of embroidery scissors and a tape measure. I think I will have to make mine a sofa to be long enough to hold the scissors! Maybe I should consider making two armchairs and the sofa to match! lol. Thank you again. I love that you are so clear with your instructions that anyone could follow them while learning a few sewing tricks along the way! I wish that You Tube was around 55+ years ago when I did sewing at school. Perhaps I wouldn't have dreaded it so much for so many years! I've had to try doing things using logic as I had no one to teach me how to sew, but when I was stranded in a country where the fashion stores catered only for women with shorter legs than me, I had to learn how to make slacks. I bought a pattern, but for some reason I didn't think to read it, just used it to cut out the pieces. I managed to sew a few pair that fitted well, but more by good luck than good management because it wasn't until years later that I realised that the rest of the paperwork that came in the pattern packet was the instructions to make the whole thing a lot easier! lol.

      Wendy, Thank you for making me laugh! I love to hear everyone else's experiences and points of view. I've definitely had my share of mishaps in the sewing room - that's why I'm trying to give away all the answers. I'm also self-taught but don't beat yourself up about not reading the instructions. Sometimes they made things more complicated than they needed to be. You're getting all the best of my "ah-ha!" moments. And... I love your idea about making a complete living room set. I'm certain that I have enough needles, pins, etc. to fill an entire furniture suite too! Your calico won't work as well underneath thin fabric because the flannel actually grabs onto the face fabric and almost behaves one unit. The calico is too slippery for that. Also, I hand stitched the pillow opening just to demonstrate that it was an option too. I try to offer options in my videos but I do need to demonstrate sewing a zipper with a hidden flap sometime in the future. It works out really well for this type of trim application. Thanks for the great questions! Have a great day, Renee

    Where do you get your gorgeous fabric, because JOannes is horrible.

    • @ReneeRomeo
      @ReneeRomeo  5 років тому

      Beth Bilous, Gee - thanks! I know that every fabric store is different - even one JOanne store to another - so the best I can recommend is that you go straight to the special order area of the store if you don't see anything in stock that you want. The great thing about special ordering is that you can return the fabric if it's not quite what you expected. It takes a little extra time but the results are worth the effort. Calico Corners is great too - especially when there's a sale! I hope this helps! Happy sewing, Renee

      @@ReneeRomeo thank you i know where the special order section at Joannes is. I do need to go to a Calico corner store too, its a 45 min drive to mine. Do you ever buy fabric online? If you do where please. I am starting to realize designers that make fabric I like. Prices run the gamut though.

    • @ReneeRomeo
      @ReneeRomeo  5 років тому

      @@bethbilous4720 Funny - I have never bought fabric online. I usually order samples and they never look like my monitor does - it's a gamble. Calico Corners has GORGEOUS fabrics in stock but beware because they can easily be over $50.00 a yard! But... I always find great deals in their clearance area (trim as well) so the trip is DEFINITELY worth the ride! All the best, Renee
