At Gyradiko you gotta get the pork. If you get away from the tourist spots in Greece that do lamb and you go to where the locals go it's mostly pork and chicken. Lamb is fairly expensive in Greece too and most people don't eat it as often as you'd think. Only us loaded tourists eat it all the time over there.
The Yeeros Shop is the best hands down. Their chips are probably the best in Sydney and their calamari is Sydney's best kept secret. Their burgers are gun too, old school Aussie takeaway style. That place does it all.

My nonna used to live on that road going down where the church is, YEEROS shop in Marrickville was a staple in the community, can you believe it was better about 10 years ago? It's still good to this day and the tsatsiki has always been the bomb, was really good to see you visit there.

i am very impressed with spainios's knowledge about greek food i was suprised in his criteria and expectations and discriptivness he clearly knows more than me and me being greek on the other hand being spanish they would know alot about olive oil and all the diffrent olives and would imagine they also would have some very simulars foods as the greeks but another very good and very informative video on the best eats in sydney, its a pitty i now live in qld were there is not really any greeks or greek shops on the gold coast poor aussies cant cook or make nice ethnic food,
good job spanios lovely show again and its great to see the local milko's are leaving out there crates for spanios to sit comfortably during his shows, spanios you need to bring in cameras so we can see the inside of the shops it makes it 100 percent better for us to see even if youse can mount a camera in a hat cheers nick.

My Dad owned Victoria Yeeros in Marrickvile from 1989 - 1993. It was actually the first place I went when I was born after the hospital. We still have t-shirts that say: "Victoria Yeeros: Can't Beat Greek Meat!"

I had to watch this. Yiros is one of my favourite foods. Agree with Spanian about the chips. Maybe not the choice of olive. Yeah kalamata is for salads but I still prefer black olives always. There was a guy in the comments that posted about shawarma next. 100% agree.

Aldi used to sell Gyro seasoning, used to make diced pork fillet ones and the pita bread from Aldi was hella cheap and good, made 5 gyros for 10 bucks worth of ingredients.. homemade is the best.
The Yerros Shop in Marrickville will always be my go to. Their chips are the best as well. They also put paprika on the bread and cook it on the grill last I was in there. Idk if they still do it.

Gyradiko do the best desserts!!! Cherry cheesecake is unbelievable and so is the ekmek cream and custard dessert.... I ordered these almost every day when I found them. Ekmek better if you want a plainer milder dessert that's soooo delicious

That Gyradiko is about a 5 minute drive from me and when it opened, there used to be a massive line to the back, now its still popular and their stuff is mad good.
My dad when he was much younger used to go to the one at Marrickville when the old man was there and that was the best when he took me there 10 years ago.
Totally Agree about the chips, you already have so much bread... its a filler. Adding chips started in greece in the 80s and then came here much later after 2000.
This had me stumped! I left Sydney many years ago, live up on the coast now and no Greek food around here (unfortunately). However, when I was in Sydney, I used to eat Lamb Yeeros frequently, but I could not recall ever having chips in them. Thanks for the info, makes sense now.

you should do hungarian food, its very niche and you cant find alot of it but its some of the best in my opinion, theres only a few hungarian resturaunts in sydney but you could do central or eastern european foods
