I loved the analogy of the boat in the water:no ores what do you do? you go ahead and do it! you can't control what's around you, but you can control what you need to. In anything you do, you may not have all the resources or materials needed to do your job or to help make your job easier. So what do you do? Think outside of the box and be your own resource, pull together things that you have learned/seen, be creative and as confident as you can be and things will work out :) :) Great video that not only can be applied to riding but to life as well :) :)
I struggle with fear of failure which can keep me from setting goals. If I set a goal and don't meet it then I have failed and that really gets to me. - Also, sometimes I just don't have the money to get the regular training I would need to compete comfortably. The shows also cost so much money to do regularly throughout the season. It's like picking between training or showing. Even then, good trainers can be too expensive to see regularly.
I use to struggle with fear of failure a lot but when I looked into inspiring people’s stories they had all failed loads. I retrained my way of thinking to be look at failure as a good thing and it’s helped loads. xx
I wish hard work alone could make it. But no, you need money. If you don't have the money you can work hard til you're blue in the face but you are blocked from progression until you can afford it.
Money is definitely needed but there are some incredible stories of riders who have build up their career with no backing and earned money from hard work. Xx
Failure, not having the most supportive family being I am the only rider in my family and made to feel guilty for wanting to be something more. This is all things I struggle with in the place I am in, I want to ride at Grand Prix level like you Olivia and I know I have a lot of ground to cover. Thank you for what you said about the small victories and taking time to enjoy them, my trainer is all I have to back me and a couple friends. I’m scared and nervous and have limited income, but I hope with lessons and showing maybe 2 times a month I can get where I want to be in the industry.
