I'd love to see a "Brooklyn 2" and see what has happened in their lives 15-20 years later. This was one of my all-time movies and I can't get enough of these characters. Great directing, costumes spot on for the 50's, and the acting was brilliant. I'd love to know why it was filmed in Montreal and not Brooklyn... maybe the cost of the production?
Totally forgot she was already married to Tony when going back to Ireland, then dated Jim, keeping her marriage a secret. The writer wrote this so intricately well that it’s a true piece of art.
I know I am so late fan of this movie. But as someone also said here, I'd like to see more of their life in Brooklyn. A heartwarming movie, simple and warm❤
I was the only extra in the Enniscorthy scenes that made it to the screen with saoirse and Domhill...I am the Irishman in the church in a 30 second shot and outside the church.saoirse was friendly with me. I'm Donal Cullen.. from Enniscorthy and the scenes are great.
Would love to see a Brooklyn 2. How they've flourish from her returning from Ireland. If her mother comes to America and if Jim Farrell ever criss paths with her. Her house on long island. The outcomes of those at the boarding house.
Loved them movie and, of course, like you, would love to see more, but "simplistic"? I don't think so. [SPOILER ALERT] Eilis' conflict is resolved; she makes a clear choice, returns to America and to Tony. No offense intended, but "simplistic" would be to overextend the ending by delineating every little thing that follows disembarking from the ship, which would be anticlimactic and something akin to an After School Special movie. The fact that we want to know more means the writer/director/film editor... did their jobs. In any case, a beautiful film.
i have to agree…all the greatest movies i’ve watched ended up with hanging plots..but that what makes it great because it creates a sense of curiosity and it makes people think and wander what happen next…sigh...
The funny thing is that in the novel, it's ended by Eilis going to the harbor by train, instead of being in Brooklyn in the movie. However, Colm Toibin, the author of the novel, likes the movie ending very much.
I hope there Brooklyn 2, telling how was their live would be, their children, their economic unsertency and everything!! Especially Emory Cohan and Saoirse Conan's chemistry is just mind-blowing! I watch it twice and not bored at all!! It would loved too, if there are a series of Eillis and Tony!!
This movie resonated with me and I could really relate to it, I went to live at the states for a while and than had to ruturn to that small town I Grew up in half way across the world. Its hard to explain it to someone who hasn't gone through anything like it. ill just say that this movie caputres it pretty accurately. As you start to see things diffrently after youre back, people in these small places can really get up in your face, diss you ext... sometimes I dont think of it, when i mannage to ignore, and unlike the Eilish in the movie, I never forget what this town is like, and one day i will leave here again.
I have an English exam on the cultural context of Brooklyn tomorrow morning at 9 am and instead of studying I’m just watching videos on it imma fail :)
it's amazing how much guts are European forefathers had they come to America not looking for a handout but a better life.. look at what they have achieved it's the greatest nation in the world
I loved this film and everything about it but just the fact that she left him, went back to ireland , started flirting with another guy, got his hopes high and then left him for the initial guy. I mean... is that okay? Was she sure about her love for either of them?
I guess she felt confused because Jim was a ver y good guy and also she was living her sister's dream so she was just confused and the marriage happened so fast that she wasn't able to tell her own mother I thought that she was going to stay in Ireland but Tony is her true love he fell in love with her inmediatly despite the fact that Eillis was kinda cold hearted with him but she realizes that she loves him because he was with her since the start
It's the main theme, actually: the duality of two world. One is where she comes from where everything is familiar and the new one where chances are limitless.
Emory is very handsome and his voice is so soothing and his eyes are to die for. Hope there will be a part 2.
i agree wholeheartedly! Sorry, though, he is mine (LOL)
Unfortunately, that's unlikely as it's a novel adaptation.
Saoirse's the best. I think she has the potential to rise to the level of Meryl Streep. She's that good.
YES, SHE IS.
Im so inlove with Emory in this movie
you are not alone my friend - he is everything good, isn't he?

montreal is so much cleaner than brooklyn
Me too!
Apparently the look of Montreal is closer to the way Brooklyn looked in the 50's, then current Brooklyn does now.
Eilis and Tony died in 2020 at age 73 and 75 respectively. They went outside and did not wash their hands.
@@da96103 lol dude wtf 😂😂
This is one of the most beautil films I have ever seen. And the most emotional one too.
Would love to see more movies like this. Period setting, with simple heartfelt stories

Movie productions will never cease to amaze me.
Something I really love abt this movie is we get to see Saoirse use her native accent, which is a rare treat😌

I think you should read the novel. It still has a lot to offer even after watching the movie.
A truly magical film, from beginning to end.

Unless the novel author writes another novel, I don't think a sequel would be necessary, or even would be good.
Emory should have won some sort of an award
the ending was too simplistic..i wish it could've been more....i wanna see them with children...the movie was superb

One of the best movies I’ve ever seen.
Wonderful film. Enjoyed it thoroughly. So reminded me of when my wife and I met each other. Nothing like falling in love.
Fantastic movie.
In any other year, this movie may very well have walked away with the Best Picture award.
One of my favorite movies ever. Superb.

I love saoirse but did not get the hype about this movie. It was like a bad Nicholas sparks novel.
