Accidentally Pressing the Emergency Phone Button in a Schindler 3300 Elevator | Elevator Video

- I Accidentally pressed the phone button in the elevator. These are the Schindler 3300 MRL traction elevators at the Hampton Inn in Troy Michigan. People make mistakes sometimes, I happened to do it in this video and if you ever press the phone by accident, wait until someone answers the call, then tell them that you accidentally pressed the button, in this situation, nobody answered it and the phone call ended. By doing this, you are telling the person on the phone that it was a mistake so they don't have to go out and inspect the elevator. Remember to never press these buttons in elevator if it's not an emergency, elevator phones are not a joke and you should never mess around with them. (Some of them call 911)
I was making a movie a few days ago that had a Schindler 3300, and as I ran into the elevator, I pushed the button to go up to the 5th floor, my finger slipped on the “Door Close” button and hit the “Phone” button. We sent that elevator up in attempt to get the other one, but the same one where I hit the phone button came back. Luckily, no one answered the phone.
Lol so I'm not the only one who's done that on a 3300. xD
I'm gonna pin this comment.
It’s one of the funniest bloopers my dad and I have ever done.
@@ElevatorDude Lol, it happens like what you saw in my video. If someone did answer I would have told them I accidentally pressed it
So would I.
Glad you got to ride a 3300. I never knew the phone button lit up green on the older ones.
Yeah, I'm glad I finally found one here in Michigan.
Interesting how the phone button lights up green when activated, that's the last color I would have expected for it to light up. I would have probably ended up doing the same thing by mistake; the button layout on the elevator is weird...probably happens a lot if nobody picked up.
Perhaps, I know that nobody was at the front desk when I walked in so maybe they weren't there since it wasn't check in hours? I don't know for sure. But green is an interesting light for the phone.
Schindler is weird
Norwegian elevators don’t have phones in them, afaik. Only the usual “oopsie-button” 😂
Lol
For people who said he didn't on accident, he accidently pressed the phone
I have a feeling that why no one answered was because the phone line wasn’t working properly. After DTMF dialing, there was still a constant dial tone.
There was nobody at the front desk either.
@@Jamestube8439 I didn't want to spam
3:06 I’m surprised I’ve never hit the elevator phone by mistake before
Used to work security at a chicken plant. The emergency button in the elevator was connected to our phone in the guardshack. Can't count how many times that thing got pressed in the 2 years I worked there. "I pressed it by mistake". I honestly think most of the time they pressed it just to see who would respond to it, if anybody.
True sometimes managers will test the phone to make sure it works. I hate the placement of these buttons in newer elevators like these.
@@Jamestube8439 try not to block me
Where I live in the world there isn't a "phone" button
but the alarm button activates the emergency telephone (in most cases you have to hold it for a preset length of time, usually something between 3 and 15 seconds, although 5 and 10 seconds seem to be the most common, and with some, the emergency phone will activate with a brief press, even when it says to hold it for X amount of time)
One time I was heading down from the 4th floor to the ground floor, and someone was leaning against the panel, and they managed to activate the alarm
"please remain calm, the alarm has been activated, please remain calm, the alarm has been activated" (and then it says something about dialling a telephone number or something like that, i cannot remember what it says) so it dialled whatever number it dials, and someone DID pick up (there are lights just below the floor display that light up when the alarm is activated, and when the person picks up)
As someone was talking about whoever it was having set it off when they picked up, it seems they never actually said anything and instead realised it was an accidental activation
Are you in the UK? I've seen a few elevators over there in videos where people have demonstrated that.
@@Jamestube8439 yes
and ive just remembered the lift where it happened had a button which i still dont know its purpose to this day
the button had a symbol on it, there was a button and a >|< button, which are door open and close, but next to the button was a button, and the alarm button was to the left of the >|< button, and underneath the button
@@pineappleroad Gotcha, thanks for sharing. Always nice to communicate with viewers from other nations.
@@Jamestube8439 yeah they never have phone buttons in the uk I found a schindler and it said to hold the alarm button to ring for help
@@isitworthit2912 I’ve seen how those UK alarm buttons work, it’s kind of smart that you have to hold it for about 5 seconds to activate it
This is most definitely a Blooper!
Indeed
I mean you're lucky no one picked up...but what if someone was really stuck and there was no duty?
True, that's not good that nobody was on duty. I would have had to ring the alarm bell which is the same sound as press a floor button, which doesn't help at all. Who knows they may be understaffed
@@Jamestube8439 you action, Hindi, Siri
The most annoying phone sound ever in an elevator
Eh I didn't find it that annoying.
truth be told they shouldn't have those buttons so close to each other
I agree, I feel like someone who might be visually impaired might accidentally press it like I did.

Edit: this comment inspired me to make a curb your meme on this video
Lol.
The most obnoxious phone sound ever
Yeah it was a little annoying.
That's bad how no 1 answered it, because what if it WAS an emergency. Also weird how no 1 was @ the front desk.
Yeah it was weird, I was very surprised nobody was at the desk. It was about 2 in the afternoon when I filmed this so I would think that there would be some people working there.

It’s ok, mistakes happen, I had a similar incedent but on a tk elevator I had accidentally hit the alarm bell. Those fire alarms are Wheelock zns or a Siemens version of that fire alarm
Thanks for telling me the model. And you're right, accidents do happen. I've learned from my mistake to ensure I don't do that again.

Also weird how number one was at the front desk of the hotel
@@JosephineSharp-c5g Yeah it was strange. Glad it wasn’t an actually emergency
Schindler Elevator Emergency Services did not answer the phone!!!
Yeah not good if someone was actually stuck. However some phones call the front desk or other locations first before contacting the fire department.
Stop it with the elevator phone button
1:53 This Fire Alarm is not a Truealert, It might actually be a Wheelock E70 or CH70 Horn Strobe though.
Gotcha, thanks.
I had a mishap at Missoula Airport MSO in 2018 where I had hit the alarm and I thought it was door close, forgot about it 2 years later
Yeah, mistakes happen.
Newly built elevators have the phone button that isn't on the side where the floor buttons, and door buttons are located
True in most cases
ah, we're humans it happens. and the button was right next to the close door one i mean what did u expect
Lol it's still a fail since I should've been paying attention.
You’re lucky no one was at duty
Actually it's pretty bad nobody picked up. What if it was an actual emergency. And if anyone did pick up, I would have told them it was an accident.

Very nice Schindler 3300
That’s the same elevator at flora singer elementary school
Couple years ago when I was at the Franklin Hotel in Deadwood, South Dakota. I accidently pressed the Emergency Phone button in that elevator, that button was in a horrible place, gotta say!
Yeah it can blend in with the other buttons. I think they should make a separate row for it on the panel with a bigger notice saying something like Warning! Emergency Telephone or somethintg
It's happened to me. Many times. Mostly on the Otis Series 7's with the stacked door open/close layout when I try and hold door open when people get on, but I instead end up holding the alarm, which then pisses me off.
Yeah it would be so much better if they put it in a different spot away from the commonly pressed buttons.
It was the phone button.
At least this was a complete accident, unlike a certain UA-camr *Cough cough* Coolman46.
lol
Also this seems to be a new thing with 3300a
Well it's not a 3300, lol
The elevator company should have put a cover for the alarm or indicate it very closely
I agree, I hate that it's so close to the door controls.
I had a case a few minutes ago on a Otis elevator I knew this day would come for me, I kinda made a mistake
It's all good, you told them it was a mistake right?
@@Jamestube8439 yeah you would not believe this i was like were going to talk to them, on floor 2 i rung the alarm because it stopped responding and it unhooked the line on me. so heres the video of what happened

3:06 you intentionally pressed the phone button
I actually didn't, I was looking at my camera and I thought my hand was on the door close button. I hate the placement of the phone button since it's so close to the door close button.
THAT’S WHY YOU MOVE THE CALL BUTTON IN THE ELEVATOR WHERE YOU DONT ACCIDENTALLY PRESS THE PHONE BUTTON FROM NOW ON (GOING FORWARD) SO THIS DOSENT HAPPEN AGAIN GEEZ!!
Exactly.
Yes, do it like ThyssenKrupp does it today.
3:07 hey what? 3:15 oh oh
You got really lucky
Not really, even if they did pick up I would have told them it was an accident. It’s actually that nobody picked up, what if it was an emergency and I was stuck.
Why does Schindler always put the phone there? It's the worst spot.
That’s what I’m saying! I think lower on the panel would be a better position
did u see my video? i accidentally pressed the phone too
Just watched.
The fire alarm is a Wheelock ZNS
Nice, thanks for telling me, didn't know what model it was.
It said Siemens on it they slap there logo on it
@@SG118P Because they're the only company that still makes them.
My father’s old cousin and I used to go nowhere with him and then we used to always press the fourth fire fighter button and I did nothing and we were laughing so hard and then it was so hilarious and then I press pet pressing the bell button it’s so fine
He went oops wrong one
Yep pretty much lol
wth i saw that elevator before.
Assuming it actually was an accident, I bet it was a happy accident for you since you happened to be recording. :)
That's the way I look at it. lol
I don't know why the lift designers put the phone button right above, next to or below the close button. It's just plain stupid. Imagine how many times the lift agency get called because someone wasn't paying attention and hit the phone. At least add a cover or make it so you have to hold the button before the call goes through.
I agree, they need to put it in a better spot honestly. You can't accident press the phone button if there's a box so elevator companies should think along those lines.
Wait! don't pass the emergency phone 3:07
The door close button was at the very button in the first elevator second button.
