Getting real sick of the “but can he take a hit,” regarding LRZ. What most gridiron Americans forget is professional international level Rugby takes all the same hits from guys that are NFL size and speed, without the benefit/detriments of pads. Additionally, the 15 guys on the field play both sides of the ball offense and defense for the whole 80 playable mins. Each team is only allowed 3 substitutions and once you’re off you’re done. There’s a level of fitness and toughness that just is different to the start and stop and only playing half the game of American Football.
The laws of Rugby and the style of play Wales plays mean LRZ is also good at delivering blows and tackling. As a wing in the back line he’s used to getting wild passes that are away from his body and going into contact with ball in hand.
Now send speed trips right and LRZ w/ Trav on a hook and ladder on the left. Watch DC’s lose their minds.

Thanks the Rugby breakdown... I know a lot of us haven't seen much of that sport. I have watched his highlights, and the dude can flat out fly! His top end speed is what's most impressive, and that's after playing both sides like you said for 60-80 min. Turn him loose I say...

I'm sick of it too. I've watched enough rugby to know he has high-level concentration & dexterity under pressure. What he does is a lot harder than a dump off in the flat.

My thoughts exactly. When I hear them say can he take a hit or get his first hit it makes me laugh. I’m like have they never watched rugby. Everyone gets hit. Without pads. They need to watch rugbys biggest hits admittedly it features a lot of illegal tackles (by todays standards) but it’s gonna give them an iota of LRZs inherent toughness and fitness

I’m of the opinion he’s tough enough. It’s a gamble with the 3peat on the line. He has a chance, rugby is a rough sport. Pop was a 7th rd pick and has only won 2 SBs. I trust the process.

LRZ is the youngest player to play for the British and Irish Lions at only 20 years of age. The Lions are the cream of the rugby players from four countries. He's used to the pressure of playing at the highest level of sport.

My grandson played Rugby in England for 2 years when his father was stationed in the military there. When they got back to the states he decided to play high school football his Jr. & Sr. years. He only played sand lot football before that. Well he ended up being the toughest best in shape player on the team and broke every record in the schools history in yards, catches and touchdowns in 2 years not 4 years. I watched some of LRZ’s full games and he was awesome. I feel he’s going to be a beast in the NFL. Rugby players are definitely tougher than NFL players.

We NEED a 3rd or 4th and 1 back. Its one of the biggest holes in the offense over the past 2 years. Carson Steele has shown he can be that back in college. I hope he gets a chance with the chiefs.

I'm all about Carson Steele. He's a big, punishing runner ala Mike Alstott. Having Steele and Pacheco lined up in the backfield is a glimpse of Alstott and Dunn. The team, last year, had to comeback often and they were not very good at killing the clock when they did have the lead. The weapons on this years team stretches the D and prevents them from 11 in the box. This opens up the running game and to change up game plans versus the opposing teams strengths. Having multiple ways to beat the opposition is ideal. CEH is injury prone and a scatback, at best. LRZ is a complete unknown factor...if a factor at all. Carson Steele showed what he could do, in college, at a time where passing seems to be THE ONLY thing that teams ever do anymore. I'm not sure why he's being dismissed for a rugby player. I think too many folks are enchanted with the "thought" of a good story versus the reality of where he is as an NFL player.

Carson Steele is the man the Chiefs need. He is a solid running back with a lot of physical power. He is a proven running back and receiver. He can become a real offensive asset and the Chiefs need him on the team to add power to their running game. You don’t need an inexperienced running back like LRZ who hasn’t proven himself in taking a hit in professional football.

There it is AGAIN - what exactly does "Take a hit" even mean???
Physically? NOBODY can train for collision, read any sports science journal on the subject from the last 30 years for confirmation. All players are at the same risk of injury.
So it must be mentally. He's going to throw in the towel & quit after a few NFL games because it's "too hard" is he????! 😂
What this ilk are all saying is basically that Americans are superhuman & everyone else isn't. How mind numbingly predictable.

For everyone who doesnt think he can make the roster and thinks he will be put on a practice squad, do you really think with his huge upside potential and versatility they will risk losing him to waivers from other admiring teams??? There is a reason they went hard after him from the IPP and he became the first player signed. And from everything he's done so far in the time he's had with the chiefs it doesnt sound like he is disappointing people.

Can someone, ANYONE break down & explain to me what "can he take a hit in the NFL?" actually means in plain English?
I keep seeing it.....what does "take" mean???
Are you insinuating he's at a higher risk of injury than other players? I'd love to see the science behind that claim!
Or that he's simply going to say (as a former rugby INTERNATIONAL btw) - "This game is too hard, I'm giving up"?! 😂
    Unbelievable!!!

While most passes will go to the body, rugby kicks go high and can catches be contested.
If LRZ makes the team, along with the plays you mentioned I think he may be used as a distraction. Defenses will have to guess what he's there to do.

The Chiefs 2023 offense had two glaring weaknesses to address; spread defenses to give the entire offense more room to operate and vastly improve red zone and short yardage conversions. That's not a cry for more backfield explosiveness, more breakaway yards, but something almost opposite.
With red zone and short yardage conversions as an off season priority, Carson Steele may explain the Chiefs’ apparent lack of concern for the backfield.
    - I don’t have access to all the statistics necessary to fully evaluate but from what is available I infer Steele to be the single most reliable chain mover from the 2024 draft class. He seldom has breakaway runs but 4yards, 4yards, 4yards, move the chains, rinse and repeat.
    - Steele is an excellent receiver, something the Chiefs treasure.
    - Steele can function as a traditional, lead-blocking fullback. Historically, Andy Reid has utilized fullbacks and hybrid backs effectively within his offensive schemes.
Steele’s power running, run blocking and receiving skills both contrast and compliment Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire, providing a balanced, multi-threat backfield.
One training camp report I would love to hear is of Steele progressing with pass blocking skills. That’s his missing piece, one the Chiefs could use.

As a winger he is well used to catching the ball running backwards, over his head, jumping, as well as chest passes. A large part of rugby is the cross field kick, from the outside half to the edge of the pitch. Generally, this is over the head of the winger, and they are catching it at awkward angles.
