If he were a "trans girl" ( a boy dressing like a girl) , he'd be allowed to wear his hair long without any reprimand, the school district is breaking the law and the boys mother should charge the district a thousand dollars for every day that her son is not in school, as long as she's paying taxes, her son has a right to attend school.

I don't understand. I was on the school districts website and saw lots of students and staff with long hair. Why is this particular student being punished?
If schools have rules on hair tidiness they should also require a school uniform. Class differences shouldn't exist between students. They are all equal in a structured learning environment.
Not really, because one kid could go home to an environment with little to no worries. While the other student may have to worry about what to eat and safety. One could impact performance in a school.
@critter2 BS in 1971 there was still a rule against long hair for boys Blks fought to attend school because they said they wanted to learn Instead they shoot sell drugs and file useless lawsuits

Why can’t people cut the crap with the hair? Let everyone wear their hair as they wish. Hair can be a personal expression or cultural practice or ethnic tradition. I just want to know how girls can grow their hair but boys aren’t afforded the same rights. My Native American background may not be prominent or recognized “legally”.. but lemme tell ya, if a guy wishes to grow his hair, fkn let him! If a young guy is expressing himself through his hair, treat that the same as you’d recognize a Native American man wearing a long braid to honor his ancestors and channel ancient wisdom even if YOU don’t understand it.. to make black skinned folks adhere to whatever “beliefs” authorities with the position to decide what is acceptable or not is highly disrespectful. Don’t do people like that. As a mom, “bad hair days” happen… I’m a mom.. apparently since I’m also simply judged by my pale azz vampire-like skin tone instead of my blood lines, suddenly it’s “different”… NO. It’s not okay & isn’t justifiable to criminalize different hairstyles. Don’t care about gender, social stats or “recognized norms” that others find “acceptable”.. it infringes on personal rights of American citizens & whoever else has reached our homeland wishing tp call her their home. All of us have ancestors who were migrants whether by choice or by force. If I’m “wrong” by standards of a small minded person who can only find it in their hearts to judge another human being, I’m sorry but not sorry. To the young man facing discrimination, Son, wear your hair how it makes you feel comfortable. Those who matter won’t mind and those who mind, don’t matter. Keep your chin up. I’m not too too far from Houston, If it takes a rally of folks to peacefully stand with you & your family, count me and my family, & our amazing friends of all backgrounds, in.

Give me a break. Like I said style length religion cultural whatever the reason is leave him alone. Punishment is unjust and keep fighting. He should be allowed to attend school and get his education without being harassed. I have 2 sons I bet there's girls there with their shorts up to their belly buttons. My son got dress coded because he forgot to pay for jeans day and wore to the knee Jean shorts. You can not see the girls shorts under their sweat shirt. Finger tipped length my behind. So what. Half a hundred years ago, when I was in high school, black students wanted to sport a afro, also known as a 'fro, complete with pick poked in for good measure. It didn't hurt anyone.
Some of these parents are the reason for many problems with our children being combative and non compliant with the school district's rules, he and his mother are more concerned about his hair, than his education. Wasn't he supposed to be graduating soon. We can't let one student disrupt the entire district, after all there are other students that come to school to be educated, this includes learning how to follow rules, he and his mother have been nothing but a huge distraction for the district. Learning proper attire is also educational as they graduate and enter society and the workforce. Upon the beginning of each school year students/parents are given a compliance booklet that list the school districts rules, which they are to read and sign.
Education doesn’t require hair to be cut. You and the school are a distraction for mandating these shit rules to begin with. The only rules that need obeying are designed for safety and respect for others’ choice in hair and clothes

He's not wearing his hair long. His hair is long, but he is wearing it short.
Obviously hair style is more important than getting an education to all involved.
If it's about education why are they punishing/focusing on these kids hair.
