CIWS effectiveness largely depends upon quality of 🔥 control Radar.
CIWS effectiveness depends on many factors. The weapon itself is one of them. AK-630 is really old and it doesn't have APFSDS or AHEAD to increase interception efficiency. CIWS like RAM or HQ-10 is also a critical tool to intercept supersonic missile.

Nothing detailed ..just Wikipedia data scaling.. detailed comparsion wud be, actually comparing the radars systems and electronic reflexes with fire control system.. type of data link both vessel use. Tactical advantage wen both are pitted against each other..., Type of Armor both vessels use, how long does it takes for the FCS to respond ..the problem is that these information are not available on Wikipedia...u need to know real people, or will need to study war tactics thoroughly .. This is just basic comparsion...works for u guys I guess

There are 25 of them in service as of now. 2 more are launched, 4 more under construction. And there are rumours about more under construction inside some dry docks under roof cover so they are not visible to satellites and nearby people. Around 40 of these will be constructed and last one of them will be commissioned arround 2025.
You haven't talked about helicopter these destroyers are using, neither you talked about torpedoes nor sonar, therefore it is incomplete comparison! Keep improving!
I think the reason is, both ships are stacked against each other and in that scenario the sonar and torpedo comparison becomes unnecessary, as sonar is for submarines warfare and torpedo don't posses that much range compared to anti-ship missiles.

@@avijitbasak8837 both type 52D and INS kolkata heavily armed by surface to air missiles so it does not matter which aircraft they are stacked up against, yes here INS kolkata has a advantage of having barak8 defence system, compared to chinese surface to air missiles defence system. As barak8 can literally intercept anything where as Chinese SAM can't, I am talking about the helecopter launched anti-ship missiles which rarely exist. One can have such configuration but it's not a practical concept to be told.

Already losed guys china lauched type 055 class destroyers which are more powerful than united states navy's arleigh burke class destroyers and ticonderoga class cruisers
One key diffrence is INS Kolkata is our front line and most potent warship where as Chinese have Type 55D, even INS Vishakhapatnam destroyers would be no match for that. Even INS Vishakapatnam will have only 48 VLS and same AK630 guns. Only ship matching type 55 in Indian arsenal would be Project 18, which is long way to go.
Reason why the indian ships have lesser VLS is may be they want space for future weapons like Nirbhay LACM, navel version and directed energy weapons....
T52D is more advanced as compared to kolkata

We need to have: (all are my opinions)
Better CIWS (like Phalanx or Goalkeeper, or else make our own[ making our own is better]). AK-630 is old (in active service since 1976).
Layered defence system (CIWS+ rolling airframe missile+ Long range [Barak 8])
More Brahmos in our destroyers (atleast 40)
More number of destroyers (I say 25). 10 destroyers are too less. Rajput class destroyers are old and will retire soon. so we need to acquire Project18 destroyers fast, and increase pace of ship building also.
More submarines (atleast 40)
Our frigates should have minimum 24 Brahmos missiles
China operates 25+ Type 52D destroyers. We should have 3 more INS Kolkata class destroyers, 8 Vishakhapatnam class, and 10 Project 18 destroyers. So total would be 6 Kolkata class+ 8 Vishakhapatnam class+ 10 Project 18 class+ 3 delhi class= 27 Destroyers.
China also plans to get 10 Type 55 destroyers which will have 112 VLS systems. so we need to think about this too. This destroyer will have more SAMs and Land attack/Anti ship missiles than our destroyers.
India ship building and design are based upon Russian technology and they ideology and another thing is trust till 1964 IN was suffering from brtish syndrome when brtish refused to they destroyer to India. Then India focused Soviet patya class anti-submarine shop and LST.. So it would be difficult to come out from Russian influences..

Western countries are manufacturing ships which have both qualities of frigate and destroyer to save money. Now Russia is focusing on submarine and small surface vessels.. They are having old 90s destroyers..

Barak series is very effective against YJ 18 kind sub sonic missiles .. and it helps INS Kolkatta to have a radar with -20 elevation capability.
YJ-18 has two cruising stage. Subsonic cruising in low altitude, and drop turbo fans to enter supersonic in the last few miles.

They want to hide their failure
Speaking totally on the basis of numbers and being impartial it seems the odds are still largely in favor of the Chinese. Before you, keyboard warriors start ranting hear me out.
- While India plans to extend the Brahmos range to 800kms the Chinese have already developed a new version of YJ-18 with a 1000km range. A Type 52 destroyer could easily stay away from an Indian ship to engage them by a margin of 200Kms Brahmos range. That's a significant difference.
- Giving all credits to the effectiveness of the Barak missile system Indian navy is still at a disadvantage given the higher number of VLS in the Chinese ship and the overall fleet of the two navies destroyers' fleet. India has a total of 3 Kolkata class and the Chinese have 27 Type 52.
- Not bringing in the Type 055 to the mix, the Chinese could simply bring 2 or even 3 T52's for a single Kolkotta class and still have 21 or 18 Type 52's to defend other areas whereas India would have to go all-in with their Kolkotta class. That makes 2 or 3 Type 52's vs 1 Kolkotta. The Chinese ship could simply use these numbers to overwhelm the Barak air defense system.
- 1 Type 052 houses 24 YJ-18s. If it's a pack of 3 52s' hunting 1 Kolkata that makes 72 missiles for 1 Barak system to defend against. Even if 1 out of 72 YJ18 gets through the air defense system that's enough to break the Indian destroyer in two halves due to its sheer kinetic speed and the explosives packing.
1- India should get at least 3 more Kolkata class destroyers. To put a spin on the Chinese plans.
2- Kolkata class needs to have a second layer of defense. Make Barak and the other system completely independent of each other.
3- India should work to extend the Brahmos range to 1200 or 1500km range.
As far as Pakistan is concerned, as a Pakistani, I am confident in saying India does not need to worry about Pakistan. Our navy is complete shit and a waste of space. It won't even last 2 days in the battle.

Pakistan is an official 'nuclear nation' with open tests of nuclear weapons and significant stockpiles and appears to be militarily aligned with China (against India).

In Chinese vids they always compare Kolkata class to 052c…
One thing you forgot to mention is that the INS KOLKATA is integrated with foreign assistance like surface to air missile (Israel), ciws and anti ship missile (Russia) and etc while the TYPE 52 D is a domestic ship which will give a advantage in war scenarios as they will be independent for their ammunition and such things while India has to rely on foreign countries if the war took place for a longer period of time. One more thing China has recently inducted a beast destroyed named TYPE 54 destroyer which is one of the most modern and deadly destroyer and even countries like USA show their concerns over this destroyer so it will be a bad situation for India cause I think they don't have any destroyer to match the Chinese 54 destroyer

@ Defence Matrix, it is absolutely necessary that we start manufacturing destroyers similar in firepower like Arleigh Burke class, with 96 VLS. We cannot match the Chinese in terms of number of vessels. But, we can definitely have ships with huge firepower to stop them. Just like Kaiserliche Marine did during the First World War.
Actually we need 10 more ships of this class.Even China was looking on it for its class and power.Last year China invited this ship for drill.Chinese media praised this Indian warship.Means,China is more confident in this ship for copying technology from it.

As such there is no such weapon to take on Brahmos . The speed and the kinetic energy is devastating further it does not follow a determined trejectory and therefore very difficult to intercept
