After using my Endfed antenna with a 49:1 transformer for almost 2 years , i was looking for another more efficient antenna . But since the bands i am using the most are 80,40,30 and 20m, My intention is to build a more efficient antenna . Using a ENDFED with a 49:1 using ferrites is ok , the SWR is great but the main culprits are the losses. After a great discussion on an amateur radio forum about ENFED/EFHW antenna , i have decided to jump for a new one : The Fuchs Antenna with a resonant circuit as a coupler.
To provide a better efficiency , i have decided to experiment a Fuchs ATU and i am inspire with MOUKD website ( End Fed Half Wave Antenna Coupler (EFHW) - M0UKD - Amateur Radio Blog) .
The description provided by M0UKD is brillant , very clear and i will follow this direction for my ATU .

The FUCHS Antenna and associated tuner was design and invented by an Austrian Amateur Radio name Josef Fuchs OE1JF . The Fuch Antenna Tuner is providing a high-efficiency compare to a 49:1 transformer using ferrite . The Fuchs tuner is a resonating L/C circuit to step-up the impedance from 50 Ohm to the required 3k. The advantage of this method is by tuning the L/C circuit, a good match can be obtained under various conditions (Multiband) . This tuner system not only transforms the impedance, but adjust the impedance in some extent (Bear in mind the Fuchs tuner is not a pure tuner , it can assist a bit but your antenna must be at least resonant). Using a Capacitor in parallel with an Inductor is providing a tune circuit resonnant (a “resonator”) for a desirable frequency. The primary and secondary inductor are providing an inductive ratio network transformer.

I have built the same, but I have included an extra tuning cap in series with the coax coil 500pf make matching a lot better
