He deserves so much more than he has gotten. I'm appalled at Disney for not putting a tribute for him on the Peter Pan Blu Ray. He should have at the very least a plaque in Disneyland. He is the face of one of the most popular characters, and it's said his little button nosed face inspired other characters too not just Peter Pan. His story has touched me so much.

Yes, its no joke when we speak of Bobby Driscoll. Boy, was he an awesome actor. His life was one big tragic story indeed. He was at one time the best child actors of all time. Disney dismissed him due to his severe development of acne and later went on to his ordinary life as it was before. He experimented drugs in high school, where his life began depleting. He died ill, alone, penniless, homeless in a abandoned tenement in New York in 1968 and nobody knew about his death until 1972. :(

It started when his parent's sent him to regular high school, they bullied him, his parent's sent him back to Paramount's schools but at CV 17 he was already hooked ontop of all the other disappoints that he suffered emotionally and mentally from Disney's contract he was stereotyped as Walt's favorite no studios wanted that especially RKO

Poor Bobby really should have gotten more support from Disney and others to get his life back on track inside or outside acting. He didn't help his own cause though with the drug taking but who knows how messed up his maturation might have been by the child acting.
I don't know why anyone would want their child to be an actor seeing how many young lives have been ruined by the burst of fame in the youth followed by their sudden end to their careers once they hit puberty - just think of Jonathan Brandis, Corey Haim, Brad Renfro, Ashleigh Aston Moore and too many others.

In the first scene, Bobby was at church in the movie "The Fighting Sullivans". He and his 4 brothers always stuck together. In the scene, he heard the "calling for help" whistle and quickly left church to help his brothers deal with the neighborhood bullies. All of the 5 brothers were fighting in front of the church and their mother was so ashamed of them. They always stayed together, they went into the Navy together. All 5 brothers were killed on the same day. Based on the true story.

That was really excellent! Most people don't know that his mother was a total witch. She was very abusive and controlling. It's no wonder that he was rebellious as a teenager. Disney dropped him and so did most of Hollywood. If he could have made the right connections, he would have survived like Dennis Hopper. Please don't forget him. I think he would have been 70 this year!

Some people here need to do a bi more research about Bobby, and also just HOW, Walt Disney dumped him before they jump to conclusions.
Bobby was a very bright, and very sensitive kid. He cared about others around him,and was always wanting to help.
He was one of a handful that has been called “ one of the best child actors, ever”, by others in the profession.
Disney touted him, gave him the world, loved on him ( and I’m NOT talking sexually) . Bobby adored Disney, loved the man like a father figure.
    IMAGINE the shock‼️
Everyone at Disney believed that his contract would automatically be renewed. No one thought different.
    The kid got ACKNE .
When contract time came round, Walt Disney PUBLICLY announced that Bobby’s contract would not be renewed because in Disney’ s mind “ Bobby Driscoll is not good for anything but to play villains and riffraff”.
[[ words here may not be absolutely exact, but, it’s close enough]].
Imagine how this would hit ANY sensitive kid ‼️
    If Disney REALLY cared,
He would have said something like “ we have made a tough decision, and are letting Bobby go. He is a great actor, and will be greatly missed. He would be a great asset to any studio wishing to pick him up. He has done a great job here at our studio, but the time has come to part, and allow him to mature beyond the scope of our studio
    ........”
Something like that IF,Disney REALLY cared.....
    ‼️‼️
    (Just sain’)

@8891randy I agree his life was tragic, but who’s to blame? Disney tossed him out like garbage as he remarked? So what? For several years he had opportunities few kids ever had. They owed him a lifetime career because of it? With his money he chose to buy drugs instead of going to college or starting a business. Who’s fault was that? When Eddie Hodges’s career ended, he painted houses and put himself through college. We *all* need to stop blaming our own failings on others.

litwriter100 It’s not only Disney that wants to stop casting child actors. Adult actors are no longer in demand after a while too when they get really old. Walt Disney was NOT a pedophile! You're sick to think such things. He was a family man to his family and a business man to his workers.
Bobby Driscoll faced a dilemma of his own problems after he left Disney in his late teens. He got hooked on drugs and it caused his health to deteriorate, which is why he died so young.

Disney made him and destroyed him. Just watched The Window, he was excellent. Disney could've given him a position in the art department, he was also a brilliant artist that was part of the Warhol Factory. You don't announce his leaving Disney only good for so called bad guy parts where he was THE FACE OF PETER PAN.
Disney also screwed him in Treasure Island, British Government forbid the filming I believe due to his age, they photographed places, got back to Hollywood and put his face in, he got in trouble not Disney. Walt was always about himself using kids to get there just like Zelnick another freak.
He died just like Stewart in the movie The Window in a rundown tenement, it's creepy. If not for his mother he'd still be a just another body in Potter's Field.
