If you get to read this comment I only wanted to say I was fascinated with your library and collection of books. Books is something I have always loved and still have my own collection today. But you have just shown me we can never have enough and I won't feel too guilty in purchasing more. I am also a mature progressing photographer, who constantly takes inspiration from others and looking at photographs. Thank you for this video. Very much enjoyed.
It's somewhat weird to see Mr. Soth have a photo album/scrapbook in his collection with old newspaper articles about car accidents...*from the very city I live in*...😮
Loved this - thank you. Noted you mentioned Duane Michaels - one of my all-time faves. Some of the old French color photograph books are wonderful too. I would like to mail you a few books - should I mail them in care of Walker Art Center?
OMG! I remember that story about the most beautiful woman of Georgia from the Georgian Spring: A Magnum Journal photobook. I went to the exhibition for it in Berlin and bought the book. Unfortunately, it's in my parent's house in Berlin and I'm currently living in New Zealand. I really want to look at it now!
Part of it was published in Georgian Spring: A Magnum Journal a few years ago I think. It was a book and exhibition by multiple Magnum photographers but I remember some of those photos and the story.
"...that very much look like Eggleston pictures..." (?!) That was amazing - I'm willing to bet you can fool the photo world, maybe even the man himself, by passing those off as Egglestons :D Democratic indeed. Thank you again for sharing, great stuff.
Soth now bit like a "star" photographer, having online tuition, talking episode and I have seen him online quite often. Kinda trying promote himself and share knowledge through different media? Admire his work and the way of thinking the photography though, influenced me a lot.
Those two notebooks of your travels that were never published are your most valuable books. When you die they will be auctioned off for many thousands, mabe millions. So don't let the cat pee on them.
I am a student the Robert Adams book would be so useful to my studies at the moment but it's like hundreds of pounds. Scan it for me he would not mind because I would not mind if I had a book somebody did that to me he is 80 odd just chilling
the album with the cut out pictures of women is incredible
Creepy as hell but very interesting.

Texas Eagle is super interesting.
That green family photo album was spooky as hell
It does have the vibe of having been compiled by a serial killer.

I think it would be pretty nice to see that "The Most Beautiful Woman in Georgia" project being published one day!
