I love watching and learning from your experience and knowledge. Thank you…
I really appreciate your _why we do this_ aspect. Being very thorough is not a typical quality in a lot of videos for gardening or food prep. Especially appreciated the 'don't eat green potatoes' information; I never knew this before I began growing my own and would frequently get green potatoes in the bag from the store. [Another reason that solidified growing my own.]
Your comment was so encouraging to me. I don’t know why, but sometimes I feel self-conscious after filming about being too detailed or like I went overboard with a subject.
I just sincerely want to help people learn these skills and give all the tips & tricks I can think of! I don’t want to assume that everyone watching knows “it all.”
So thank you, sincerely, for taking the time to comment today. ❤️
Can you make a follow-up video about how you use dehydrated potatoes (and maybe some other veggies)? Love your channel!
That sounds like a great idea to add to our content calendar! In the meantime, this recipe is one of our favorite ways to use dehydrated potatoes. :) ua-cam.com/video/V1lYhLaxD2k/v-deo.html
Can I ask (perhaps I missed it in the video) but why not rinse the starch off after you shredded them?
I very much appreciate this video. I have watched several on this topic and this is the best. We are more potato than rice folks. Thanks for all you share. ❤🥔
i have a neighbor who asked if i wanted to 'go halfers' on the end of year sales of veggies - i'm probably the only vegetarian for 100 miles but 75 pounds of potatoes just for ME?? yikes! so i will dehydrating cubes, shreds, slices and instant for the next week.
Sounds like a great plan! If you have a pressure canner, you should try these herbed potatoes, too! ua-cam.com/video/X2H4Ri0CPlg/v-deo.html
Will this work for sweet potatoes as well? I am ready to harvest atleast 100 sweet potatoes next weekend 😊
Yes, it will. That said, we didn’t love the texture of the sweet potato rehydrated. You might though! I recommend testing a small batch, rehydrating, and tasting before processing all 100 lbs this way. 🙂
If i made homemade fries and froze in bags do i need to blanch them?
What manual shredder do you use?
I use the Townecraft vegetable cutter. Unfortunately, they don't make them anymore. You might be able to find one on ebay or somewhere like that. We did find a similar one on Amazon, and it is linked in the description box of this video. :)
My family used to make fun of me saying I was a poster child for “The Salad Shooter”. They aren’t laughin now. Bam, shredding done !
thanks for the great info! I didn't know that about blanching
Glad it was helpful! 😊
