- Even in the bustling Ghanaian capital Accra, the LGBTQ+ community lives in fear because of their sexual orientation. Despite this, activist Alex Donkor won’t stop fighting for equal rights.

Drug dealers needs to be respected and given equal rights. Drugs are not harmful we need to open a platform to dialogue because drug dealers are the everyday persons we see. Kwasiasem
Realize that you already respect drug dealers. When they wear white coats and write a letter on a small piece of paper that says you should get you lab-manufactured chemical drugs in a little bottle and spend lots of money to get them. Yes my friend you already respect your drug dealers.

Black Africans want to be respected but can't respect each other. You may not agree with his sexuality but he and others in the LGBTQ+ community deserve utmost respect as fellow Africans and human beings.
In African culture you as a man can has 2+ wives and that is a no no in the west. Why are we gonna accept LGBTQ in Africa?

We don’t need respect from anyone. We just want people to leave us alone
@@stephye.4868 What do you mean by the West, because all muslims living in the West have their more than 1 wives and no one is opposed to it. How is the West responsible for African born LGBTQ's like Casta Semenya, she didn't chose to be born like that. Would you be happy if your child was cast out because their are different, like some tribes are also attacking Albinos. The are tax paying honest citizens too.
homosexuality doesn't have a equivalent word in any of all the African tribes. Therefore, that is not our ways. Tomorrow y'all will also say we need to accept those going with animals. Africa is already damaged with western culture but this behaviour couldn't be accepted.
Alex is very handsome
1 Christian religion 2. Islamic religion 3. Traditional religion (Shamanism) Those are the certified and accepted religions in Ghana. LGBT is seen as forbidden
I hope that in time Africa can come to ditch colonialist imposed beliefs such as homophobia and accept our people as they are and always have been - there have been LGBTQ+ individuals since the dawn of the time and forever will be, this is not a problem. But for now, Africa needs to focus on bettering theirselves in ways they are lacking such as poverty, famine, drought, extremism, illiteracy etc., Too many problems to deal with before we go ahead and bring up trivial things that members of parliament in Africa SHOULDN’T even be interfering in like somebody’s sexuality/their sexual life. And before anybody says anything, I am African myself 100% and we NEED to focus on more important things like how poor we are, AS A CONTINENT.
Homophobia is not an imposed believe. LGBTQ is not a trivial issue, unless you are conveniently pretending not to see the canker it is spewing in especially the US. May be pay attention in the month of June. Who ever thought sexuality ought to be publicly celebrated.
If you are scared of your life why are you showing your face? Nonsense

What do expect from Ghanaians? Parliament is receiving memoranda for consideration and debate on the issue is ongoing, then the people's representatives will vote on the issue. Or you expect the rights of those who do not want advocacy of LGBTQI to misinform their kids to be sidelined? Sometimes when you keep hearing the wrong thing for a longtime, the wrong thing becomes your reality. There were gays in Ghana who did their business in their rooms with no infringement. The people began demanding this bill when they began advocating and requesting it to be taught in schools. USA and UK only began accepting the LGBTQI community just recently meanwhile their democracy and society has been existing over 400 years. Ghana as a country is less than 70 years with close to about 30 years of democracy. The people are not ready for LGBTQI. If it is forced they will fight it like it is happening now. Why does the West continue to jail person's who engage in polygamy? Is it not a right? Ghana's culture meanwhile accepts polygamy, so is it not double standards. When Ghana is ready, they will accept LGBTQI. It's a matter of time but not now.

This is rubbish. Every society in the world has its laws and beliefs which is considered sacrosanct until otherwise. Ghana has its laws too which must be fully respected. Westerners always think we are just some bunch of foolish people they my can push their agendas on. They better think twice.
Laws change all the time. They are also there to be challenged, which they often are.

I am not denying no one life I’m saying if you want to be gay be gay if you want to be straight be straight this not a new phenomenon it’s been going on since the beginning of time. It should not be glorified or demonised. The Romans were openly bisexual you did not have debates on the matter you had your boyfriend you had you wife they converted to Roman Catholicism and it became a big deal People felt the need to go on undercover and to satisfy urges and take advantage of the Vunerable. I don’t want to know what my child does with their partner but I want to see grandchildren they should just miraculously appear. Every human being urinates and passes stool it’s a fact of life and I will have a friend they will go to the toilet frequently daily and they will go their whole life without bringing up the topic of what they are dropping in the lavatory and I don’t need to visualise. This big brother invasive mentality is what’s destroying society telling me what I need to think or feel superman now has a boyfriend was that necessary I don’t think so. My next door neighbour is a lesbian my son asked me where was the father he has another single parent family same question I use the same delicacy and tact to answer both questions giving neither one more importance my son now does not care he just accepts it for what it is and none of our business and plays with the children happily respecting the parents and that’s the only thing that’s important.

@@DWThe77Percent Like the way you respect rights of minorities in Germany through racism right?
@@theaggressiveinvestortips5791 this it a fail point, since racial discrimination is illegal in Germany. I’m sure there are plenty of racists there regardless, but the point is that… ethnic minorities are legally allowed to access health care, they have legal rights to self identify and seek justice when they are victims of racial violence and discrimination, harassment . The government and fundamentalists in Ghana are actively suppressing people from enjoying these same civil liberties. It’s a shame you are unable to recognise that
@@pearls1404 Nobody is denying the fact that there is and has always been gays in Ghana and for that matter Africa. My issue is, you don't go about making changes by bringing in foreigners like the Australian and EU diplomats to meddle in local affairs. Polygamy is accepted and legal in most part of Africa. How would Europeans feel if Africans go into European cities and demand the legalization of polygamy? Afterall that is also a fundamental human right. Stop meddling in Africans internal affairs because those countries are not colonies and have absolutely every right to determine amd manage their own affairs.
By the way, racial discrimination is only illegal on paper in Germany. Discrimination is widely accepted and tolerated in Germany. Go ask the Turks and other minorities and you will know the reality on the ground.
@@theaggressiveinvestortips5791 this is incredibly disingenuous, given that white fundamentalist Christian groups from America are being welcomed with open arms, consulting on and promoting the anti LGBT agenda. It is also disingenuous given that the entire religion at the root of this anti LGBT rhetoric and anti lgbt law IS colonial. “Unnatural carnal knowledge” comes from an English law. It seems as though you are picking and choosing to suit your personal beliefs.
If Ghana were a just and fair place of LGBT people, they wouldn’t need to seek support internationally. The fact is this - if your life is under literal threat and you cannot seek justice or reprieve within your own system - what choice do you have other than to call on the international community and fellow signatories of international agreements to apply pressure on your government to assert your rights?
I live in Europe and I am black. Again - if somebody in Germany is a victim of racial discrimination, there are mechanisms through which they can seek justice. In Ghana, you cannot go to the police and say “hello, I’ve been raped, petrol has been poured onto me because I am gay and I’ve been burnt. Please can you catch the culprits.” It is not hard to understand and I feel you clearly have some level of intelligence yet show complete cognitive dissonance towards something very simple. I have been racially discriminated against in Europe and I have seen justice when it’s happened. I feel safe. Ghana’s lgbtq are not safe.
The point about polygamy is also mute because nobody is born polygamous? Being lgbt is who you are, it isn’t a cultural decision? Lgbt people aren’t asking to be able to MARRY. They are asking for access to healthcare and to not be abused. Honestly, you may have to come to terms with the fact that you are just an incredibly hateful and evil person if you think that is asking for too much.
Wouldnt be surprise if he get foreign support to push the agenda

My understanding of culture is that it encompasses particular aspects of belief systems, language, norms, mores, socioeconomic status, religious tenents, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, gender, disability limitations, etc. As someone pointed out, culture may change within and amongst groups, individuals, nations, and societies. There is much sociological and anthropolgical data to evidence this assertion. One the issue of homosexuality specifically, this behavior and lifestyle choice (albeit openly or privately) is one that's existed everywhere and within all nations irrespective of predominate sociocultural tenents and religious or political factions. Thus, resulting in minority and oft marginalized groups that were are either tolerated, accepted, or persecuted. The issue here is whether or not LGBTQIA+ identified persons should be allowed to express themselves (openly or privately) without being persecuted and NOT NECESSARILY advance to or advocate for the right to same-sex marriage or adopt. And yes, "buggary laws" are colonial imposed and non-traditional implementations to the Gold Coast what is now Ghana.
This abominable acts were all taboos in pre-colonial before the laws were passed.
The lgbtq+%$ propaganda and activism is also colonial imposed now and not traditional. What is really traditional on Africa is that this abominable sexual deviation is not accepted and not tolerated in Africa. People have the right to do they want in their bedrooms but not in public and it is not accepted to propagate homosexuality among society.
