I just had this done 24 hours ago. This really helps me understand my discomfort and more importantly it makes comfortable that it was successful. Thanks!
I just had this done a few hours ago. I came here to understand why there are some punctures along the side of my abdomen near the umbilical hernia and not just one cut in the trouble spot. This was very helpful to see. Thank you!
This was a good video. I just had this done for two hernias one over top of the other, one being an umbilical one 4 days ago. I loved how you explained in so much detail. The worst part for me was immediately waking up....omg the pain was horrible and first two days. So far I'm good and moving around does really help with healing. I just can't wait to sleep on my stomach and sides....something I haven't been able to do for over 10 years.
Great video! Currently dealing with a large defect in abdominal wall for the past 10 years. Had SBO a few days ago and a surgical consult coming up in 3 weeks. It’s great to see how the surgery is done. Thank you!
Thanks for the explanation. I had a ventral hernia repair laparoscopically with mesh, hope they repaired the dystasis too due to consequtive pregnancy. The pain is bad for three days but subside onwards.
Thank Dr, Your video very informative & highly appreciate. I had mine done on 5th of June in private hospital my meshing was 20×20 cm.. I can't thank you guys enough you doing great job..💕🌹🌹 once again thank...
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO! I just had this surgery 3 weeks ago. I have 3 more weeks before I'm healed to 98%. Soooo informational. I have to have this done and it’s literally amazing to watch this done… side note, I’m going to need you to take that fat OUT of me, not leave it in. 😅 k thanks.
I had ventral hernia repair (laparoscopic) without mesh in December 2022, within 2 months the hernia had recurred and i hadn’t even resumed working out at that point. Getting a second repair with mesh this time. It looks like the holes you make for the camera compromise the strength of the abdominal wall, im wondering if that’s why my hernia has recurred? Also wondering how i got the hernia in the first place given that im lean and in shape and always had strongs abs. Looked down one day and saw a hernia, and nobody has been able to tell me why or how…
No-mesh hernia repairs are appropriate for some patients but the trade off is an increased recurrence rate. Most patients don't know what causes their hernia since they often appear spontaneously.
The prolene stitches which u have taken to approximate the rectus- do u take it from each sides of the rectus- and what after knitting it .... When do u remove the prolene stitches or can u explain the concept behind this
I saw you use a device, a small clip to hold the wire and pull it out of the body. I also designed this device, which is surprisingly similar to yours. Can you communicate with me?
eTEP is a very common approach to fixing ventral hernias. The use of TAR at the same time is more contingent on whether the muscles can be closed at the time of surgery.
I have had 3 hernia repairs. Started with a very small navel hernia and turned into a big incisional abdominal hernia. It's still not fixed. walking with pain every day.

I’m about to have this surgery as well, what’s the recovery time and how long did you stay in the hospital?

Hernia is very common in Nigeria. I hope to popularised laparoscopic hernia repair after my board exams. Ur videos are very useful.

Very informative. Thank you for sharing. Do you use interrupted sutures to approximate the defect or is it continuous suturing?
Thank you for sharing your comments. We place interrupted sutures for our fascial closure during both open or laparoscopic hernia repairs.
Having this surgery in January, also incisional hernia as well
Thank you for sharing your situation. We wish you well in your upcoming surgery, CAHS
Thanks for sharing.
It's really helpful for me.
Would you please tell me the brand of the mesh? It looks great 👍
Many surgeons use Bard Ventralight mesh for ventral hernia repairs.
Hello Dr. Nice surgery.
While closing the defect, are the sutures knotted over the skin?
The transfascial sutures are tied under the skin through a small skin incision. Thank you for your comments.
nicely done, kindly show external view🙏

hey! why do you not cut open peritoneum to place the mesh under it? you directly have the mesh in contact with the bowels?
The mesh used in these hernia repairs is coated so that it will not stick to any abdominal contents.
This Doctor did my hernia repair June 2021, it went very well, all good. Check out their website, plenty of info.
Awesome, Thank you for your comment, CAHS
Thank you for sharing this video iam very interesting as iam my senior house officer in general surgery
HI. what size ports did you use? Is the top port inserted at the veress needle site??
Most of the time our surgeons use a 12mm trocar and two 5mm trocars, one of which is placed at the veress needle location.

The sutures we use to close the fascia are made of PDS, which absorb over the course of months.
Are these sutures closed over the skin?
same doubt ??@@salvadorcovarrubias9597
I have this form of hernia. Ive just started watching videos on how its repaired, and now im terrified.
Thank you for your comments.
I saw you use a device, a small clip to hold the wire and pull it out of the body. I also designed this device, which is surprisingly similar to yours. Can you communicate with me?
The device we use is called a suture passer, and part of the Carter-Thomason trocar site closure system.

Is this the absorbable mesh?
The mesh that most surgeons use for non-complicated cases is a permanent synthetic mesh and not reabsorbable.
This mesh has big failure rate and a bold clot and neutrophils demand urgent re surgery severe side effect watch out.
