I got it as the matches went along, maybe I'm just a skeptic but when people take too much time for certain moves in mental games its a give away. Some of the later moves (not the bad ending moves) he does in the other games tho I don't think were that un-obvious that a decent player couldnt do them (I mean I'm pretty much a newbie in chess and I was mentally doing a fair amount of the same moves he did)
***** not just apparently, chilled said he was copying hutchs moves against a computer player, and then copying the computers moves as his own.

The "Grob system" 1.g4 is not so bad - it has been used a lot by British International Master Michael Basman who has defeated GMs with it including GM John Nunn. I was lucky to draw once vs Basman a few years back. He built up quite a fierce looking Kingside attack. The idea of the Grob is positionally motivated to play later often c4 and put pressure across the diagonal. Often also g4-g5 is useful for d5 control. Your opponent Chilly did actually start the game off quite well with this opening. I think moves which seem bad really often depend on how they are followed up. The "follow up" concept for seemingly terrible moves is a very important one in Chess. It means that even seemingly terrible looking pawn structures etc might have dynamic compensation which could be revealed later. 1.g4 has some pros and cons - if it is followed up well, then White can use g4 to its advantages. Those "books" were actually a cheat game from chilled. While your own game was going on chilled was imputing your moves in another expert level computer game and repeating the moves that the computer did because you embarrassed him on a live stream six months ago from his video date.

Love that Hutch is now doing chess videos. Always good to see some promotion for the game, especially when the targeted groups are probably the ones least likely to ever have played it.
Hope it gives them incentive to try it and grow to love it.

I'm still a novice at chess, but I saw an opportunity for what seemed to be a checkmate and kind of yelled it at the screen.
At 10:15 if Chilled had moved his queen to B6 and Hutch didn't catch it in time, his next move (Bishop to F2) would have been mate.

It would be cool to just sit and play a game of chess with Hutch. Even though I would probably get destroyed I would at least learn something and can still chill with Hutch.

I think if chilled didn't always play so dumb he would be much more of a likable youtuber. I like everyone in the group but chilled, he is like the wings of redemption from pain killer already.
he mostly plays dumb in the stuff he does with hutch, nanners and co. if you watch some of his vids he does without them.... of course, he also seems to just kind of panic in gmod and not really know how to play chess lol

Ever heard of "comedy" guy? Even if he is playing dumb on purpose (which may or may not be true) it's still funny, and in the end, if you're having fun, does it matter if it's staged or not? Sitcoms are staged and you don't see people saying "ERMAGERD FRIENDS SUCK CAUSE THE ACTORS DIDN'T MAKE UP ALL OF THEIR LINES ON THE SPOT".

This was very entertaining.
On the 7th and 8th turn Chilled could of won it right there. All he needed to do was move his queen all the way up to B6 then move his Bishop diagonally taking Hutch's pawn on on F2 and boom checkmate.

Omg chilled, If I was in your position around the 20 second mark I would have just attacked as quick as possible. Maybe with that hutch would of panicked and gave you a checkmate. Anyway, Great Game!

Chilled may have "cheated" but it would of been worse if he didn't tell him, and because he did hutch got a decent game where he could practice a bit so it's a win win, chilled had some fun and hutch got some practice while having fun :) and chilled also probably learnt some things by both listening to hutch and using the computer AI. All good fun in the end :)
