When i was in college my friend & i go window shopping in Escolta. Syvels one of best shoes & bags before also Ding Velayo & others, that was late 60's! Hope to visit Manila as well as Escolta our favorite place for window shopping.

Then suspension ng mga permits nila ang kasunod. Kaya kung mag take ka ng picture on aerial views.... maganda at looking new lagi mga buildings nila
I hope they restore the beautiful European Style Buildings in the area; also part of Avenida Rizal and Recto needs gentrification as the area looks rundown.

Wow I can't believe Escolta ito ? Kaya pala tinawag tayong Paris of Asia! Some of the buildings facade and sidewalks tulad ng Paris at Portugal ! Meron talagang potential ang Escolta kung malinis, lagyan mo ng cafe restaurants at bistro eh para kanang nasa Paris. I hope the government will help rebuild Escolta, this will be a big tourist destination in Manila in the future!

Beautiful! Big tourist potential ang Escolta! I remember being in Escolta in the 70’s, big movie companies held offices there. Can’t wait to see it again with improvements. Swerte ng Maynila dahil ang galing ng Mayor Isko Moreno nila. And of course, with President Duterte’s leadership, the Philippines keeps moving forward

Thanks for this post. Watching this from the U.S., the present Escolta Manila, the buildings and streets still has its looks like so many areas in Madrid Spain but it's cleaner and tidier. Glad to see that our political leaders make this happen.

Restore the old glory of Escolta in Manila. Bring back the old paved stones on the street and calesas for a tour of old Binondo. Plant trees along the riverbank and brighten the streets with Spanish street lamps. Finally, whitewash the buildngs to remove the accumulated grime, posters and graffttis from the walls and let coffee shops abound.

What the building owners could do is lower the rental on their retail spaces to make it affordable to the little retailers. The building owners may also negotiate with the city government a tax break on their property taxes. Escolta can be revived back to its old shoppers' paradise days. They may cater to lower-income families, those that could not afford high-end shopping.
Yorme Isko already decrease the taxes in Manila

Mayor Isko Moreno is phenomenal ( due to how he transformed Manila in 3 months, an almost impossible task to do so ) its not 100 percent done yet but it is a continuing process. He took his mandate seriously and that is why people all over the world noticed. If all or a majority of government officials have the same vision/mission as his, our country will redeem its former title as the Tiger of Asia ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kung sidewalk pa lang eh ang laki na nang naiganda ng Escolta, paano pa kung linisin ang mga kable, kunpunihin at pinturahan yung mga building. Aba parang Europe ang dating ng Escolta. Yung unang building sa video ay maganda, akala ko nasa ibang bansa na maayos. Nag trabaho ako dyan sa Escolta ng 2 years kaya kabisado ko yung lugar na yan at ang potential nito bilang heritage, historical, at commercial area ng Pilipinas.

I am a resident of Cotabato City, seeing Escolta now brings me back down memory lane. I was once an employee at Burke Bldg. some 47 yrs ago. Thank you Mayor Domagoso for trying to bring back Escolta and Manila as a whole to its glory. God bless and watch over you. Mabuhay po kayo.

Yorme should engaged a Landscape Architect to standardised all the features elements trees planters including the road sign street names side walks covered walks bus stop CCTV to all street in all Manila same here in SG lahat ng lugar naka landscape

Nsa plano n ni Mayor Isko na pagandahin ang Escolta at mga old cultural structures like metropolitan theater. He is merely 100 days old in governance but already did a lot of developments in Manila. One at a time maaaring naghahanap at naghihintay po sya ng sponsors. As i heard amabassadors of diff countries visited him offered help. Even private companies & org are implying help to Manila. Kaya wait lang po.

Hopefully mayor isko will restore manila particularly escolta. Escolta was once called paris or madrid of asia. The beautiful old buildings and the nostalgic tranvia and calesas were the icons that kept escolta more western and truly hispanic.

You can see clearly the difference between the Manila City Government before and the current government lead by the one and only Mayor Isko Moreno. Hope he doesn't change and will continue to do his job well done. The previous government of Manila is really hellish. Yorme wants to make Manila the capital of the Philippines vibrant and great again.

Gumaganda na. Pero sana yung mga signage na masyadong malalaki eh medyo bawasan nang konti nakaka sira nang ganda nang building kc. Gayahin nila yung cbd furniture na signage magandang tingnan. Bagay sa itsura nang building and hnde loud yung color.
