Hey Willem, thank you for your kind comments. Less so the aluminium and more so the dedicated fixings I find...they soon bump the cost up! I do justify the cost of using the extruded alloy by the fact that all the alloy so far (inside and out) has cost about the same as what one dedicated expedition style roof rack would have cost me that is only available in the States for the Promaster. It was important that I had a roof rack akin to what I had been used to when overlanding...for not only their strength but ease of use and adaptability... the alloy extruded rack has surpassed all expectations. This van will undertake quite some journeys so this was important to me. Also, all my vans systems, right back to the outer skin, are easily accessible. The bolted alloy makes that task simple as the skeletal framework is open behind all the facia thanks to its strength. Also by dividing the whole build into zones, each zone can be fully stripped back to bare van without upsetting other zones. I thought this might be easy for any maintenance or upgrades. Paul
Thank you very much for your kind comments Michelle. I'm sure you're doing fine... Do find us on Facebook @ MyWay Adventure and show us what you are doing. In my next installment I'm completing the carcass' of the overhead lockers which I can't be more pleased with so do keep an "eye out". If I can help in anyway please don't hesitate to get in touch. Thank you for getting in touch and you couldn't have timed that better. Here's a short on the forming of the surround with vlog to follow soon as we now do our rear windows. Hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions. Paul m.ua-cam.com/users/shortsLfyYWTaHDUU
Hi, did you need to put any angled spacers behind the overhead locker cross beam fitted to the side wall? Mine, if fixed flush will be angled down a bit if I don’t use spacers. Just wondering if that was an issue for you and if so, how did you get around it?
Hi Michelle how are you? There is a slight angle but the steelwork is easily thin enough to flex. That slight "springiness" can then work in our favour adding tension to our fixings which may possibly stop them from vibrating loose.... Pretty much like a spring washer. I covered it a little here in the measuring of the locker frame. Good to hear from you. Oh and don't forget it was pretty much my panal that fitted direct to the van clamped on by my 30x30. m.ua-cam.com/video/J8hqm0p6gXw/v-deo.html
@@vanlifemyway7806 hi! Thanks for super speedy reply!!! I’ll go for bolting straight in as well then :) Looking forward to see how you add doors to yours. Think I’m leaving mine open fronted and using Ikea clothes boxes to keep everything clean and tidy :)
@@michellebouchard8454 you know that sounds like a great idea as I'm beginning to stress out a little as I gave no thoughts at all as to how I'm going to hinge the doors. I'm seriously considering doing another build for a different challenge and would totally use slide in baskets throughout. Besides looking nice and "homely" it would be so so much easier to build.
@@vanlifemyway7806 have u considered sliding doors? KJN supply the slides that click into the aluminium profile. It’s not available for the 20x20 I’m using but pretty sure it’s available for 8 and 10mm slots on the 30x30 and 40x40
@@michellebouchard8454 I did see I and consider it but planning on using more bamboo to break things up a bit. However, easy enough to perhaps change if it doesn't work too well.
Great guys, love the way you ended it…on tender hooks here now!! 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏻👍🏻
You're on tender hooks.....I'm well pissed off 😆
I like the way you transform the van into a ‘tiny house’. That extruded aluminium is fantastic to work with, but boy o boy, it’s so expensive

Really enjoying your build! I have used the Ali in my build but you have done a much better job! Looking forward to the next installments!

From Canada: too bad, you didn't show the making of those rounded plywood window surrounds or at least, explaining how they were made.
Thank you for getting in touch and you couldn't have timed that better.
