I came back to this video to night and enjoyed it so much. I had a gnomish wizard out in a bog at night and used random tables in The Tome of Adventure design and AD&D rules - as best as I could remember - to tell the story of the wizard surviving the night until dawn when she could make it to a a high road and resume her journey to the sea. Thanks for all the inspiration.

What if, the wererat is a tradesman during the day and during a full moon a wererat. One thing that i got lucky with was horoscopes. They are usually written very general without proper names. Have you ever tried using the daily paper for solo ideas? Also the phases of the moon are an interesting way to track time. Just a few comments. I love your ability to create stories.

Rob Harris These are wonderful ideas and an area where I lack knowledge and wouldn’t necessarily think about that. I will try to remember to include something like this in a future vid. Great idea.

There are always three words that I constantly use in tabletop gaming. And they are: Theme, Scope, and Tone. They essentially are what a game's core components are when you strip away the words, actions, and variables. Theme, scope, and tone is what you game actually *is* and it's important to use them as a compass for steering your games.

Some potential transition/liminal places... Hospital, Morgue, Orphanage, School, Library, Alchemical Workshop, Blacksmith, Factory.

Oh... And given the significance of the silver medallion... a Silversmith.

A few places of change that you could include is a sheriff's office, a court house, a hospital, a bank or money lenders shop, a tavern, a blacksmith's shop.

there are six watches in a day, which allows a (1d6) roll to determine what part of a 24 hr day it is. most watches began at dusk

You used the advanced dungeons and dragons dungeons master guide book from 1979. I have that book also but it would be easier to follow you if you told me a page # that your on when you changed to different charts. It was 6 months ago. ( Title my best rpg book). I like how you created a solo rpg.

Glad you enjoyed the vid. I can only direct the viewer so much and continually referring to page numbers would be annoying to people who don't have the book. I figure if someone has the book they can find what I'm looking at easily enough.

Do you remember where the laminated table is from? - The one that says Annex A at the top?

It is from the Solo Adventurer's Toolbox, which is shown and discussed in this video on creating story (which is the precursor to the one you're watching and referenced throughout this vid): ua-cam.com/video/7Sut96WcbHg/v-deo.html

Great video. Are you strictly a solo RPer? Out of choice? Necessity?

The Dungeon Dive Glad you enjoyed the vid. Right now, strictly solo out of necessity. No time to really commit to a regular group tho I would love to be able to! Someday.... just too much else going on in my “real” world.

Geek Gamers it’s great to see people bring in and use items not specifically meant for rpgs or borrowing items from board games. I can’t afford to get into miniatures, so was using a bag full of little wooden Meeple of assorted colours I found on Amazon, now I have some card cutout figures from Pathfinder. Love watching your videos.
