Thanks for sharing your perspective! Just a correction about Living Energy Farm, where I live: The walk from parking to Living Energy Farm is a half mile, not a mile. Also, in my opinion, understanding how to operate things on a basic level in order to live there is fairly simple. Learning to duplicate and fully understand the systems is somewhat complicated.

I try to support Acorn by buying a lot of my seeds for gardening from them.

I did not! Most of them closed when I was looking. Found soul family where I live and probably working on starting a community myself. We will see. Haven't landed yet🥰

Hey April, this is a super useful rundown! What kind of skillsets were they looking for at Acorn?

I’d like to live in a community so that’s what brought me to your videos. I have only heard of Acorn in a video from Twin Oaks but not of the other ones. Wish we could start one here in SoCal. Weather is nice and perfect place to grow fruits and veggies. Will you return to any of these communities when the quarantine is over? Also did Twin Oaks say why they weren’t letting you join their community?
Ps. I also hate clutter (I know we want to be eco friendly and use and reuse and repurpose things but there comes a time where they just gotta go 🗑 )

I am looking for a location to start a community. Maybe SoCal should be on the list🙂 I have been dreaming of Costa Rica because of no winter and food grows in abundance but I want it more accessible to people in need. I so believe this lifestyle is the way of the future! I want to continue my community experience and learn as much as I can but everywhere is still shut down. I did not call twin oaks back to find out their reason for not accepting me. I knew the story they conducted to make my friend look like a sexual predator so they could kick him out. It wasn't true so I really wasn't interested in their reasoning. So glad you are on this journey🥰

I have been interacting with several Intentional Communities and have been on a journey to find a place that resonates with me, I'm curious what were the living arrangements like at Cambia and their access to the outside world as far as internet and transportation? Also I have a growing business so I'm not sure I'm ready to give up on my dream so I'm not sure how that would work if I joined a community. I have children who would be coming with me of course, but I'm not seeing alot hospitality when it comes to children.... Which is understandable being these Communities have restricted limitations. I've looked into several and I too am interested in Cambia mostly for their connection to the earth and energies of life! I'd love to know more about them!

Cambia had a small house and then several small structures on their property that they rented out on airbnb. So not a lot of space. Not sure on internet or transportation. Kids are hard when it comes to the communities but if you are meant to be there it will work out. I would try to keep your business going. I think communities should be open to it. Really taking tours is the only way you will be able to decide what you want and see if it will work or not. Hope this helped! And good luck✌
