I'll say it again. You need a proper, adjustable four link setup. Fight the torque out at the wheels and don't transfer it to the center section. With an adjustable four link setup you can tune how it transfers power to the frame. And lose the spacers.
MnPaul I agree.
Yes a four link would be the way to go.
I thought the only reason to use a 3 link on a s10 was to keep the original gas tank. Since that's not the case here...
I could not agree more with you on the spacers! But I am assuming he is waiting to do that later on, as in for content on the channel.
@Mike Anderson I've said this at least a half dozen times! They dont respond... They didn't even box the frame and replace bent cross members with stock ones. Its never going to function well... Just look a ta art Morrison pro touring chassis... Thats how bad this truck was engineered
"what do you think will break next laz?"
"more studs"
Studs break
Put an electric steering module
From a cobalt or G5 it’s a self contained just need to mount it to the steering column
That's exactly what I was thinking.
Taylor Ray did that to his miata it works awesome
I got a bad one I could send them for mock up purposes
If y'all only knew how many columns I've replaced and how many recalls I've done on those you wouldn't suggest it.
People also use the Saturn electric power steering units. Rather easy to wire up, and they install right in-line with the steering shaft. Another option I've seen used is a FOMOCO electric power steering pump plumbed in to a traditional power steering gear box. The FOMOCO pumps are installed from the factory in Volvos, but they're well hidden.. All cheap options at Pick-a-Part yards.
Nothing to see here...
Jeremy: Wears helmet on public roads
old hot rodder trick concealed identity lol
Its because cars with cages are very dangerous on the streets. Helmet saves his head hitting a metal bar in a crash
...or sponsored by Racequip... 😂
His wife said he had to, LOL 😂
@@offchops6722 I had a buddy crack his skull. He was rear ended at 15mph in a residential neighborhood at a stop sign.

E Clifton - I was just asking myself “I thought this was awd...”
better to blow one diff instead of two during testing.
@@rogerstrikewell front diffs are generally weaker than rears, so you're just gonna blow it when you hook it back up.
It's all baby steps while testing
Mike Anderson they used one from a trailblazer ss , theyre awd so no switch

Lol
Ok. That was actually amazing. Needs to be at the tippy top!
LSX Underground more like spacer has left the chat
Thought I was watching Whistling Diesel for a hot second there 😂
I saw the same thing happen, but in the middle of my small town I grew up in. A BB Chevy square body pulled out onto the main drag and just gives her the beans. The right rear sheared off, bounced about 50 yards, and went through the front glass of a grocery store, barely missing shoppers and taking out about half of isle 3. Luckily no one was hurt.
Wow I lost right front thankfully at 25mph luckily it wasn't a mile back when needle was at 45mph for 2nd time still haven't been that fast in one again to figure out what speed was
LMAO I would have loved to see that!
I lost a right front going around a corner. It went rolling down the sidewalk, barely missed a little old lady, continued into a parking lot and parked itself perfectly in a parking space.
"Clean up in aisle 3"
That wheel has more miles on it than the intire build🤣🤣🤣
Omg lmao
🤣🤣🤣🤣Dead
Lmao
Ahh yes, intire
Lol
Dont run that type of wheel spacer, it shears studs as you now know (LOL). I've seen it too many times @ the Nurburgring.
Use bolt on wheel spacers only . Or just get the correct offset wheels :)
As the legendary singer Kenny Rogers sang, “You picked a fine time to leave me loose-wheel!”😉
Headerflame On IG - what video was that from?
by kenny rogers do you mean darrell waltrip?
PapaWheelie Kenny Rogers had a song called Lucile. Those are the lyrics, with me being punny with “loose wheel”.😉

Dude, all your videos for this truck should be called "The never ending saga of breaking stuff"
Build it, rip it, wreak it, improve it, repeat...the saga of custom builds and racing.
Never built a car and didn’t break a lot of crap before I got it sorted. Then get bored and do it again. Lol
Or "How many times can we break this truck
Its frame is as good as 2 giant pieces of beef jerky... It should be boxed w/ all cross members built much stronger to x braces. Just look at a art Morrison pro touring chassis. This truck will never corner well or be able to dial in the suspension cuz the twisting and flexing frame... This should've been back halfed w 4 link... Would've been cheaper than that shit
@bobwatters your clueless if you think im suggesting boxing the frame for added safety.... Even more clueless if you don't understand that all the suspension and drivetrain are on the bottom of a open c channel frame that's twisting and flexing immensely from 10 times the torque it was designed to handle compounded with 6 times more grip! A simple 2wd dyno pull bent the trans cross member! The additional weight boxing the frame would add is equal to a gallon of milk maybe 2. The goal of this build is to compete in autocross/drift and handle like a racecar... Art Morrison style chassis are what's necessary for a body over frame vehicle to handle like a modern sports car and win. U know nothing if u think that frame is good enough
I became a LE driving instructor. Then I switched to a different department and had my shoulder ripped out the socket. They retired me 2 years later and I never got to teach driving at the academy. I would so love to drive an 800hp vehicle. Love y'all videos. Keep them coming.
Wheel spacers = lug stud killers.
You will almost certainly get seriously injured in the future if this happens again at speed. Get rid of the wheel spacers, OR, include me in your will please.
Spacers can work, but you need them to be right. Hub centric spacers with studs extended to the right length should be perfectly fine. The hub centric part should help keep forced off the studs. Of course proper offset on the wheels would be better.
Agreed, not to mention donut action and missing wheel studs, and spacers =no fun for anyone....lol
Oh yeah and the early curb smooching action during the donut shop trip....
If you run spacers that have separate lugs they aren’t too bad. But I agree it looks like it is time to put it on some better wheels or even better put it on a real axle/upper link (tied to cage etc).
@@shotgun_chef3265 was I crazy when I thought it looks the diff brace is in between the cover and the housing? I sure hope not....lol
Try grade 8 bolts instead of those grade 5 on the diff cover, also you may be able to make a bracket that loops infront of diff and goes down and back to the bottom part of the diff cover along with keeping how it is currently set up. This will spread the forces much better on the diff rather than just on the top with lots of leverage.
Love you guys, but you make some boneheaded choices. "Oh, we're missing studs. No big deal we'll just take them from the other side and head to the drag strip!"
I guess I just have too much fear of killing myself and/or destroying my vehicle to do something like this.
Don't forget that these guys run a shop/business and the S10/youtube shenanigans is a side gig with limited time and budget. I'm sure they know certain things are sketchy and the risks involved but were eager to get out there to test and have some fun. The truck has turned out a lot more potent than they ever imagined and I'm sure that still hasn't quite set in for them. At least they had their safety gear on.
I want to start a GoFundMe for a booster seat for Jeremy in the S10
I believe Jeremy is close to 6ft tall haha
They said in a previous video that he’s 6’. I know this. Lol that seat is just so low it looks hilarious.
Maybe drill the axle flange out to accommodate 5/8" ARP studs? .....And the wheels
The wheel spacer is breaking studs, had the same issue in my Camaro removed the wheel spacer and got the correct back spacing and it’s fixed
Wheel spacers are a no no on high hp car's
Yep, bolt on spacers would be better than those slip ons.
@@Stevesbe Wheel stud delete on each axle is an even bigger no no
>breaks two of five studs, possibly compromising the integrity of the other three<
‘I’m sure 4 will be fine-let’s rip it!’
Jeremy - "We got these ugly wheels on here"
Wheels - "Imma head out"
if the steering is to tough install a prius steering column, super compact power steering unit, controller is built into the unit as well, just supply power
A rack and pinion system should work fine cuz you can mount them almost anywhere
No no no. Just need a electric ps pump. Already have a steering box. No need to reinvent the wheel. Lol.
Love how Jeremy waves goodbye to the wheel lol. It may sound dumb but these videos are like therapy for me... I wrench at a crappy small town dealership and usually have a bad day there for reasons out of my control, but im always smiling when the video ends. Thanks guys
God bless this truck! Such a dream build! Been awesome to watch!
So glad yall are okay, holy cow. I couldn't help but laugh at the reaction you guys had, especially George's laugh. What a great moment. Plus it was a safe space, and no one was really "in danger". Cant wait to see the fix for this, yall got it covered. Best wishes man, keep up the great content, I love the Dime!
Non hub centric rims and spacers yeah I'm not surprised. The wheel studs are not ment to hold the entire weight of any vehicle. The hub goes into the hole on the rim to hold all the weight of the vehicle. That's a major fail.
Learned this on a Tacoma back in the day...
This is NOT true for all vehicles.
It depends on if you have acorns or washers for lug nuts
Acorns spread the load out on each lug nut and washers do not hold any load whatsoever
Bird76Mojo76 Honda.
And they already broke lugs and only had 4 to begin with.
thats why we dont use spacers while off roading here. The large hole allows movement....and movement allows impact force on the lugs
the indoor lighting made the wheel falling off look almost green-screen 9:50
So thankful there was a forwards facing camera!!!
Theres a reason why spacers were illegal for track use for so long. Even the newer ones are just a bad idea for heavy cars with this much power.
02cents if the spacer was solid instead of being full of speed holes it would have enough surface area for a proper clamping load and be fine. Still not optimal though.
I went to the track one time and the only way the wheels would fit on my car was with the set a spacers but I ran them down the quarter mile anyway I trapped a 134 and all I could think is please don't fall apart My butthole was puckering
efb the problem isnt really the spacer as much as it is how the studs are subjected to much greater forces. Instead of just clamping forces on two faces, with a very small load surface on the stud, the pressures are applied to the stud over a much wider area.
like when you use a cheater bar to break a nut loose. A breaker bar (the shorter force, or wheel with no spacer) can only exert a certain amount of force. But, when you add a cheater bar (the longer force, or when a spacer is added) the force on the bolt is increased exponentially. Its more of a shear force, but you get the idea.
Just get rims with the right offset, so much better :) did that on my s10 !
@@junkyota A missing fastener was probably more to blame than the spacer. I get what you are saying, but I don't really see the holes in it causing any more problems than a solid one. Plenty of meat to clamp to in my opinion, when all the knackers are tight that is.
You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel.
Wow that’s pretty good.
Fine job and quick response...damn I am getting old...I should have been on top of that one🤣🤣🤣🤣
Four missing lugnuts and a tire in the field
@@Fasterproms1 Darrell Waltrip would say that whenever somebody lost a wheel in a NASCAR race he was announcing

Ha! The wheel won the race......LOL. Man, the scene in the cab with the 2 of you right after that happened was priceless, lol.

When Fasterproms becomes more "seat of the pants" than Cleetus, you're onto something.
Not a failure at all! Glad you kept it out of the wall. Loved the video and love this channel. Shout out to George and Laz for kicking ass and being hilarious.
Just here to see if Cleeter's stuff is actually moved out of the shop.
Edit: Stayed for a great video :)

Absolutely the same, love this channel too doe
Looks like a few cars are missing outside.
6 minutes in, haven't seen one cleetus car...
It’s overflowing after you drive it for a bit because the water is getting warm. You need a large expansion kinda tank (1-2gal) to let the excess water flow in and out and it warms and cools up. Such an awesome build!!
I think that wheel just ran a 10 second quarter mile! 😮
LOL! The one and only time ive ever had a wheel come off any of my vehicles, was my 92 chevy S10 extended cab 4x4 when i was in high school! coming home from school on a friday, get just north of town and my left front decides to part ways at 60mph! what a day that was lol!
12:30 wouldn't do that with a 4 link...
Been there, done that! '04 Impala, left half of the transaxle locked solid at 35 mph. Sheared 3 studs and pulled the other two lugnuts. 60 seconds earlier I was doing 70 on the interstate.
That rear suspension and axle is a shitshow, time for some real parts! A fabbed 9” with a nodular center and a triangulated 4link with pan hard
NICE! Pelican Case. I use the same one for my work.
Any run you can walk away from. Way back along, I lost a rear wheel off a1976 Olds Cutlass with a 455 on a public road, so I know what it feels like to be passed by your own tire LOL.
I dusted off the rear tires of my old 396 Chevelle one night and I felt the snap of the studs, I barked the tires hard going into second and then I watched my wheel just cruise on by me. Took the chrome off the wheel well but that was it, nearly lost my favorite pants though.
@Russian kek Bot Whoa!
Maybe you need a rubber or polyurethane "bump stop" mounted to the frame to stop the front of the differential from twisting upward?
Time for a 9" Ford diff?
Love the content, but the end of the video has me curious where all of Cleetus's stuff went...
@Brandon Carpenter I know but I'm thinking that was a temporary move... Jeremy hasn't been in their videos as much and vice versa... They've been using someone else to tune for them too.
Hope they all stay together... But I have a feeling cleetus bought a racetrack... Smart move that will outlive a UA-cam career.
Always loved their content together though
He took the Dale truck home, that is the only thing that is missing.
@@auntjanet2346 no. Look at the shop from maybe 5 or 6 episodes ago... Tools and parts are all missing too

Dang that’s crazy!!! To fix that door it just needs new door pins it’s really common in 1st gen s10. I have 4 linked multiple s10s. I bet that diff bracket hit the bottom of the bed during the wheel hop and hammered it down. Most of the time we bodydrop the bed floor to more under bed clearance.
12:15 "Oh, we only need 4 lugs on these wheels.. It's fine."
Glad no one was hurt and the truck can be fixed.. need ARP studs and rims with the correct offset.
I sheared an axle on my 1978 bronco with 35" rubber and watched my tire head across someones yard. guess the BB460 was to much for a stock 9" .. put a 3/4ton Dana 60 in after that. I pulled the truck back home with my forklift made the neighbors shake their heads..
Jeremy, you have to add power steering back. You made ME tired watching you struggle turning the wheel. That thing is a ripper!.....did you lose something??? Lmao
well its a pleasure to support you guys .......the content is AWESOME....... George: We Blew the wheel off it!!!!! 😂😂😂😂
Jeremy you could convert the S10s T56 to a sequential style shifter from an Australian company called S1 sequential converisons if I'm not mistaken. It converts any T56 type trans from h pattern to sequential. You should definitely look into gettin one. Whenever I do a build with a T56 trans thats the way I'm going to go with it

14:40 ish AGREED that IS the problem... Spacers ALWAYS spell bad news....
Robert B drifting on spacers for years, just hubcentric ones
Spacers aren't always bad news, it's a matter of doing the proper stud upgrade along with it.
It is hard to believe that you do not have at least half of Garrett's subs. That is were I came in from. I figured anyone who hangs out with the guy who put whistles on his exhaust has to be a winner.
Of course George is what keeps coming back.
The drift community has come out with "force adjustable" electric steering rack and columns. Look into it.
That thing was spinning on a dime, compared to a regular rwd v8 s10 it looks like that weight balance is really working for it. I think a better lsd rear end and obviously the rest of the issues ironed out this thing is going to rip everything. Can't wait to see it in awd beast mode!
That suspension doesn't work very well time for something else
Ron Reinski weld a proper truss to the top that axle. It’s what us off-road guys do.

Awesome truck! Top notch production and content. Nice to see the trial and error approach. Also, all of you have a great deal of experience and knowledge, and you do a great job of relaying that. Okay, I do have a suggestion. On a 800+ HP truck, wouldn't power steering make it a little more user-friendly? Also, a pinion snubber? Go watch the 70s Mopars launch. Good luck to you and your crew in 2020.
That 3 link...junk...
I have been in the situation of your danger, i have my Mazda 626, 2000 release, GF generation sedan, so a 1.8 litre 74kw, and i drove around for two months with 3 wheel lugs one side and 4 on the other side back tires, Well i know there might be a power difference and for sure and engine diffrence plus weight, but i didnt manage to brake a wheel off, well done boys, what a amazing beast this machine is!
He may put the helmet on but it ain’t really going to do shit if it ain’t done up. Seen him leave it loose on so many of his videos even at the track. Do you even know how to do up a helmet Jeremy?
He can't even put a wheel on properly either. Lol. 🇬🇧
This is what builders call the "shakedown" stage. That truck is going to be insane when it's finished!

I lost a tire once...it was a FRONT tire, and I STILL HAD all five studs and lugs on the car...the rim just 'donutted' on me.
My cousin was so amazed by that, he kept the donut hole [the part that stayed with the car] as a conversation piece.
Funny thing, is I had JUST shut her down form 170 mph and was rounding the end turn at 5 mph when the tire came off, or I might not be here to tell the tale!
