I feel genuine compassion and pity towards people (apparently mostly panda experts and guidance counselors) who have a hard time understanding her humour.
People don't realize how many letters Dr. Suess got from Lorax experts saying they don't actually talk to trees, and the cat experts telling him they don't wear hats.
This is the first time I came across this woman (non-American here!). This is by far the most funniest interview I have ever watched. Gonna look for her Netflix show now.
This was a great interview, I like her and now I want to write children books. I really agree about the home thing, I have to be able to relax and I don't relax when there's other people around. I go out as little as possible, and even then I just spend time with my dog.
@@aabracadavra That's because she's not a comedian... she's a humorist. There's not many of them around anymore. Actually, that's what Andy griffith started out being.

I like her. This interview is from 1995 (pre-fast connection internet in house holds) - I wonder how she's doing today (googling her, seeing she's still around).
There’s a new Netflix short documentary series about her made by Martin Scorsese. If you like her here, I think you’d like that, and it shows what she’s up to now.
She is around. She doesn’t have wi fi so she can’t google herself and doesn’t read anything about her online. She still doesn’t have a computer or phone. I sort of admire her. I feel I’d also want only a landline and maybe a computer with internet. Must be calmer
This aired when I was 9. She stole the show and, tbh... Should have hired her as a writer, lol! Still got your back man. This prestige video is nice and, it was a good move to go UA-cam with all your content. My 2 year old didn't learn "I love Conan!" from her mother.
I would say that I FIRST saw Fran in the film Resident Alien, about Quentin Crisp. That movie MAY BE the biggest crush-developing movie that I've ever seen. I had NO IDEA Crisp, Leibowitz, McDermitt & McGough, and Penny Arcade existed before seeing it! I swooned for ALL of them.
Same reason Johnny Depp (until he as forced to stop) keeps playing in bazillions of consecutive Pirate movie sequels and Jeff Goldblum plays in sneaker and cooking product placement short movies. Nobody invents anything deserving their talent anymore and the bills keep flowing in.
As Fran was talking about her unfinished novel, which has been forever in the making, I am thinking about the movie "Wonder Boys." The Michael Douglas character, Professor Grady Tripp, has been working on his novel for years and there are no signs of it ever coming to a conclusion. In the movie the book is an unwieldy 2,611-page manuscript.
That is some high toting anti social behavior when you literally tear out bedroom space to keep people out? But I have it on good authority it was because she now owns 12,000 books and that this apartment back in 95 was too small when she only had 10,000 books.
When my wife and I moved into a 2 bedroom apartment I immediately claimed one bedroom as my 'office' (I am retired, why do I need an office?). I had to make sure that no one mistakenly thought we had a guest bedroom. 😎
@@tinytanks They bare a striking resemblance. Why is that a terrible thing for people to point out? Do you not think they look similar? And maybe show some reference for the city you feel so butthurt for by capitalizing her name.

EXACTLY!!!!
Safe to say the dislikes on this vid are either Guidance Counselors or Panda Experts.

She would be great on the podcast.
We need that
She's great wherever she shows up. 😁
I agree but she would hate the premise, becoming friends with Conan, inevitably having people in her home
Yea her voice and speaking and pace is very good
Fran is more famous now than she was when Conan did this interview with her. She's brilliant.
one of the funniest people ever lived
LivING.
i hope you mean Conan
Period.
she's drawn to pandas because they dress and walk like her. I love her wit and timing. ;)
Well done!
Fran is an American treasure. Absolutely original and hysterical
She's an introvert. I can relate kind of.
She also loves going to parties so maybe ambivert? She’s great though either way!
She's simply glorious. I've never laughed so much watching a talk show. Quite frankly, I rarely laugh so much watching stand up comedians.

If Fran ever made it on the podcast I could die happy. My two biggest inspirations
This is basically a stand up set with Conan to bounce off jokes. more please?
thats literally what conans show has always been, set work outs, bill burr is the best example
I love “Franland” !!!!!! That is priceless. I feel the same. My home is a private sanctuary only for me.
Fran is secretly Andy Samberg’s mom
Was looking for this
Yep I thought she was him

Didn’t realize that Andy Samberg had been on Conan 10 years before his SNL career

I thought he's aged significantly since last I saw him.
So thankful it's not just me.

Conan The Legend
Funny how she hates technology and Conan asks her where she sees herself going. 20 something years later, she has a documentary series on Netflix.
I mean she's an actress, she needs to put her acting skills somewhere right?
Same reason Johnny Depp (until he as forced to stop) keeps playing in bazillions of consecutive Pirate movie sequels and Jeff Goldblum plays in sneaker and cooking product placement short movies. Nobody invents anything deserving their talent anymore and the bills keep flowing in.
Netflix is just a platform. A documentary like she did would have aired on regular t.v. it doesnt make it more "technological". IMO.
@@salaciousbum1161 Netflix is also an app. It’s an example of advanced technology that didn’t exist years ago.
