  • Soil health is a critical topic that necessitates in-depth discussion due to its integral role in both agricultural success and environmental sustainability.
On 1 September, Farmer's Weekly hosted a webinar to gather expert opinions on the importance of soil health.
Guest speakers included Mmakgabo Matlou, a soil scientist at the Agricultural Research Council, Dr Hendrik Smith, a conservation agriculture facilitator at ASSET Research, and Dr. Gerhard du Preez, a senior lecturer in agricultural sciences at North West University.
They discussed crucial topics, such as conservation agriculture, the significance of beneficial nematodes, and effective soil management practices.
Watch the recorded webinar and share your feedback in the comments below.

Thank you Farmers Weekly and the speakers for an informative and interesting webinar about such an important topic. Soil health is life, I have seen so much damage done to soils through bad agricultural practices in my region, and the destruction of healthy ecosystems which look like they will never recover. And very interesting talk about Nematodes, have heard so much about them and how bad they are for crops but now have a much better understanding of their function and importance in soils. Inspired now more than ever to farm with nature.
