Some people say the Mtl Canadiens don't have a #1 goaltender. I don't get it. We just need to make them play and pick the one that's gonna be the best. Btw you named them all except Volohkin. Actually there are others so at one point it's gonna be hard to choose.
The preseason can mean different things for different teams. For Edmonton, they have a very mature team and all you're going to see is how bad the wheels will fall off the wagon in the future. For Toronto, they have a little competition for LW, 3rd/4th line positions, the rest don't care. For Montreal, their roster is kind of set as well. They have 12 guys 25 and under that have made their roster. It's not unusual to see that their prospect cupboard a little bare after guys have graduated. To see a young goalie do well could really be the piece they need to get over the hump. This entire pre-season and development process will be a complete success if Dobes can graduate. Montreal is going to want to see him in better action as you could even see the Leafs at some points just playing doing things like trying to set-up Easton Cowen for a goal rather than make the play with the best guarantee to score. He'd get tested harder against a team with less NHLers on it. Ottawa is at the point they'll have a lot of young guys with something to prove.
What makes this even more surprising is the fact his stats from last season was not that good. He doesn’t really have a spot yet performed as best he could. I want to see more of him

Not surprising for Dobes to me. Look at his numbers in Laval and how old he is
I always knew Dobes was a good goalie.
he's starting this year like he finished last !

Saw him a few times last year and said then he was the best goaltender they had.
Dobes and Fowler will lead this team to numerous Cups.
Montembault take a hike , Dobes you're up.
Dobes was great giving up two goals on 34 shots. Habs only got 17 shots.
There wre gonna lose regardless since they played their normal roster while the Habs didnt have even half our roster.
It was a nice play by Robertson, but you have to admit that this goal was the result of Engstrom doing a newb mistake which should have never happened
That's Dobish! Give him a bigger size jersey and watch out.
You seems to forget that in third, Toronto had just 5 shots!
Big Dog Dobes indeed has that DAWG in him
Not surprised HE SHOULD BE NUMBER ONE IN MONTREAL
He looked like 2021 price in this game
I mean worst game, but effective on the ice were so outmatched. But yeah Dobes looked like a G.
Any real habs fan knew about this guy couple of years ago. He had prob 2-3 bad months in his career
Dobes got the 2nd star on RDS
Dobes!! .941
These oreo cookies gonna get eaten this year.
Brother sens first game we had no one at al besides chabot and we beat the leafs with lots of goals scored lol :)
Yeah, they definitely didn't have Batherson or Pinto.
