My theory on the shadow milk custome; look at his souljam upside down, it's not to represent his old self but to represent how him and pure vanilla switched places, him in the good side and pure vanilla obviously in the bad side. Representing a wolf in sheep's clothing. To explain what is already obvious, Pure vanilla is the sheep, and shadow milk is the wolf. My assumption is I think it would play out more in the next episode with the black Sapphire guy speeding rumors how pure vanilla is consumed by darkness, or how he's the one causing all this.
